Got a copy of GT6, ask questions here

I didn't follow this thread closely, but I noticed some negativity concering this games current state. Can somebody post a short recap?
If I got it right, and if it will be confirmed after day 1 patch, offline career is quite short... some of the 'lucky' guys here reached the "end movie" just after 3 days..
A reason could be that PD concentrated their efforts in the online section. I would be really happy with that, of course is a personal opinion/taste.

Who makes the Rules?
Mr Good Sense? Just kidding...

There was a picture posted of a group of races between 10 - 20 mins long. The only title was S. Some have presumed this to be the Endurance races scaled down for GT6

These seem to be all the endurance races.

Although, there were other "endurance" events before that were 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and 15 minutes.

Anyway I think I'm done for a while. My hands feel tired since I played too much, lol. Also, I didn't unlock any other special events yet. Only Goodwood/Moon for now.

THIS! Is what caused all the speculation!

What an incredible sense of community here, instead of discussing things rationally some of you instantly resort to name-calling and chastising another members decision to not purchase the game for a reason that, quite frankly, makes far more sense than any of the drivel in response to said decision.

I can't wait to discuss things rationally in this section. Oh, wait...
I'm sorry :scared:

To get back on topic, one of the guys said that the carwash doesn't do anything real, and ''just makes the car shiny''. Does this mean the car actually becomes shiny or is it the same as in GT5?

As as I see it, GT6, unpatched, is basically GT5 Spec II with:

+ 15% more cars and 20% more tracks
+ Improved driving physics
+ Marginally better graphics, sounds
+ Simplified interface
- Shorter and easier career mode, less credit availability
- Less features (course maker, B-spec, telemetry, 3D, etc, but also small things like lack of fuel/tire consumption on free run, no more tire load indicator, etc)
- Same usual PD inconsistencies (framerate, weater/time only on selected circuits, standard cars, limited amount of customization and not on all cars, etc)

PD are clearly placing their bets on online, DLC and updates, because as a whole GT6 is currently in a worse state than what GT5 was at launch, in my opinion.

Do you know how hard it is to find an endurance race online? Not everyone has time for a league, and the are none that do 24 hour races. Some people like them you know, and I don't care if people want to "100%" the game, it's just a stupid trophy to me. This is a retarded move from PD, if true. 24 minutes of Le Mans? Is that a joke?

"Oh yeah man I did the hardest race yesterday."
"And what was that?"
" A whole 7 laps at Le Mans."
":odd:"
"Yeah and 2 of them were in the dark "
":banghead::banghead::banghead:"
The "end game" of GT has always been endurance races. Like end bosses. Sure real time might be extreme to some, but 1% of real time is just a wash.

The most technically simple implementation of flexible endurance races would be setting time of race in alignment with time of day change. It could use the same system. This way we can run it several times, short and/or long. Even the credits system (GT 5) auto scaled to track time.

Still very simple, the system could calculate average laps based on the time you set if you want a lap number race vs a timed one.

Seriously, this system would be TOO easy to have implemented...

Does GT6 seem to be running at the same resolution as the 2013 GT Academy demo? They were pushing native 1440x1080 on there, a step up from GT5's 1280x1080. I know it's hard to actually see this, I'm just really curious as that's an impressive native resolution for now "last gen" technology. Also explains some of the bad FPS people were getting in the demo as it wasn't completely ironed out yet.

Slightly improved physics.

It was just the academy demo. 2012 was just as bad. I've had confirmation its running smooth now..

Yo Dog can u shed any more light on the endurance races? That can't be IT!? There must be more to unlock?
Well, I have no idea really. Though, if it does work like GT5 then there should be, since the S events were visible from the begging and just had a lock so you couldn't enter it until you got the S license.

No one knows so far because they are still locked. You can't look at all the locked races like in GT5. There is still the international b/a licenses that can contain endurance races.

Hope some of the others get to read that lol.

THIS! Is what caused all the speculation!

I can understand why people are worried.

However, even if there is hidden endurance races, these 'super' events still seem pretty ridiculous. don't they? My motivation to earn the Super licence is that I can then enjoy events such as Like The Wind and Formula GT! Not races that would require one pitstop at most!

To have expected anything more than this was a bit of wishful thinking IMO. To have wanted more than that is human nature but the GT5 experience should have taught us not to expect too much. The day 1 patch will slightly improve a few of these things and possibly add back in a couple features but it won't be earth-shattering.

They've always had the most nonsensical career mode for a racing game and I wouldn't expect that to change any time soon. Having a larger amount of that nonsense wouldn't add much value......again, IMO. Until they add qualifying and standing starts GT will be a poor example of a racing game. Thank goodness for online lounges.

So its still to unlock cool. Will look forward to those pics ;)

Oh also forgot to mention one thing. I beat the first race, which is the 20-mile Willow Springs race (8 laps)

The tires went bad very fast. I was using sports soft and one of the tires was almost all black by the 4th lap. Same was with the fuel, I only had about half on the 4th lap. It felt like they were trying to give you the feel of long races but make it a lot shorter.

The leading car was a FXX, which I gott admit wasn't easy to catch and it sort of kept up with me after I overtook it. So it felt challenging. Then again, I was using the Ford GT, which is a real pain to drive with 650 PP (that was the limit).

One more thing: I drove the R8 LMS Ultra and it was very, very hard to drive. It spins way too easily, even with racing soft tires and when you break hard it just loses control, unlike in GT5. I had to drive it very smoothly to not spin out.

How many colour choices are there for the SLS GT3 and can it be painted?

Can you adjust the R8 suspension and brake balance for that race? Also damper settings to help soften the suspension helps as well.
