So I began hotlapping again. While doing some laps and struggling I thought "This is way harder than I remembered", and only many laps later I realized "...wait, do I even have super-softs on?"

Fail of the day. Suddenly the car started cornering better and laptimes improved significantly... xD

Edit: Oh, and since there haven't been any posts after this one I shall add my newest lap here. Like predicted, I'd pull out a .4, lol! :D

However, it's only temporary because I see some room for improvement, especially the first sector seemed slow (gotten .4 in S1 a few times). So, expect me to beat it by at least another tenth, we'll see. For this lap I improved the gear ratios a little bit and as you can see the changes helped.

GODDAMN YOUUUUUUUUUU xD

You're telling me you did a 1.15.6xx with NORMAL TIRES!? I'm THAT close to just give up, because of my 1.15.5xx with Soft T.T

But NOEP. I'll try again right away. Ugh xD

EDIT: I really hope that there's no advantage due to the framerate differences between PAL 50hz (25fps) and NTSC 60hz (30fps)... That would suck xD

You got me all wrong. I meant I had normal tires at first as I started hotlapping TODAY. Then I realized.

Also, just did another .4 and getting fantastic sectors so I'm close to improving again.

Y'know what? I might as well put up a stream so you can watch my attempts! My setups feel good so those won't be revealed ;p

Oh okay. Don't put up a strea just for me though. My internet is limited in GB so I 'm avoiding streams ^^'

I'm trying again as we speak. It's gonna be a painnnnnn T.T

BTW I'm amazed at how you beat me in 3 laps. Is it because you're using a savestate to rewind to the finish line when you mess up?

Well, it's for you too! I just thought I'd do it for fun, no big deal.

It's a pain indeed. I was a mere hundrenth away from my record that one time and gotten good sectors now but always stacking up the lap at some point xD

Come say hi!

Let me know when you know how to use a save state on console xD

And nope, wrong nonetheless. I obviously visit the Settings menu now and then, so...the laps get reset. I have waaaaay more laps under my belt.

Also, stream up.

NTSC has slight a advantage. The timer count goes slower (actually PAL timer goes even faster than real life). Also 5fps is a big advantage to the car control. Maybe even the physics itself gets better counted on NTSC. But i do not know that for sure.
At least for GT1 it is like that.
What PS3 emulation does to it i dont know.

@karelpipa Hmm yeah. It does seem like the car handles a lot smoother on NTSC vs PAL. I'm playing on the [CENSORED ;) ] So it doesn't matter to me much, but yeah. Oh well.

Anyway, this will be my very last attmpt at this. I'm very sure I won't be able to beat that, EVER.

1.14.812 @ 335.5 kmh / 208.47 mph

There's a wall touch at 42 seconds, I'm aware of it. On a regular wall I'd say it was fine, but it's one of "those" walls, walls that kind of "crush" your car, and bounces you a little.

So i'll let you all decide if i is eliminatory or not. If you all decide it is, then we'll keep my previous time:
1.15.531 @ 342.6 kmh / 212.88 mph

I'm so done. xD

Did this pretty superb lap during a livestream I held for all those wanting to see. The livestream lasted just over 2 hours and 30 minutes. Thank god I finally did it, just a question of patience. :P

The penultimate round is up, with the crazy Escudo taking centre stage at it's home territory

And I'm aware that the image is from Gran Turismo 4, but there was no decent GT2 images of the Escudo on a dirt track in replay mode.

My first attempt, may have another go later in the week.

Could definitely improve on this as I spun a few times.

Let's agree on how we do this. Judging from your screen, @JASON_ROCKS1998 , you did it on the hill climb race.

It's important that we all agree on how to start the race, 'cause Arcade start is a running start, Test Drive start is a sudden start from zero without countdown, and Race Start has a countdown which allows for a controlled start.

Arcade start would be the most convenient for setup and quick restart. As race start would recquire massive amount of patience with the loading times.
Anyway you do it, you only have one go, so better use whichever way is the least annoying/timing dependent (since we all know timing here is very important).

EDIT: Here's a quick time I got from the Arcade disk start (rolling start).
Color is a little weird because the replay instantly stops after crossing the line.

I didn't know the arcade disk gave a rolling start for this track. For this round times should be done using the GT mode disc with the Pikes Peak Hill Climb race.

Just a quick question, the OP says 'Pikes Peak cars'; are we allowed to drive Suzuki Cultus? It is also a Pikes Peak car.

As per the rules, here's my first official entry, from the Simulation Disk race start:

The sound is very low, sorry x)

1.38.019 @ 278.22 kmh / 172.88 mph

I'm expecting this to be beaten, but I don't think it's too bad.

Welp, first rushed try here. :P Performed a few test runs to learn more and then fine-tuned the setups a tiny bit to the point they felt nice and oversteery. xP Oh, and I forgot to display the top speed with the record time so I edited it in the end. You can tell it's the same run obviously.

Also as a side note Jason, I think we should all agree to not accept even a single wall contact here, since nearly all walls here are one of those "crushers" that bounce you back and can help you greatly. So if someone bounces off, I'd say it's a DQ. Adds to the challenge, too. I think Submaniac got off easy with the GT-ONE one, but here...? xP

You're just salty :P (although I honestly doubted it would be approved xP)

Hmm okay room for improvement on both sides then.. will try later xD

I'm one of the suckier ones when it comes to driving in GT2, so I think I'll stick to improving my skills. (^ω^)

EDIT: I suck at tuning in GT2 too. The game is just too shakey and fast-paced for me to fully understand what's going on. ( ̄◇ ̄; )

Time uploaded, I used Suzuki Cultus. It tends to understeer more than the Escudo, but owns friendlier power distribution and actually active taillights - big plus for me. :P
