I agree that the standard cars aren't that bad. Hell, I'm happy to know that my pixilated garage will look excellent in HD.

Qronicle
This was already the case in GT3 & 4.

However, did we see there arms move? plus all we saw were driver shadows. On this, I see clear helmets and even brief sight of their hands.

I don't even think the standard cars look that bad, but my problem is that there are 2 standards to begin with. It's gonna be weird having standard cars mixed in with premium cars on track (if that is even possible). Not to mention I'll have to be constantly switching between cockpit and bumper cam views. I wish they could have just cut out the fat and not wasted time on things like 3d that 5% of consumers will actually use.

I think standard look quite good.

Well after watching all the features on the 7 page list and all visual effects video I'm again pretty excited about GT5.

GT1 had 178 cars. GT5 has 200 'premium' cars of amazing quality. The other 800 cars are just updated ports as a bonus from previous games. Plus the new tracks, the night racing, horns, flashing lights, reverse light, better smoke, nascar, more F1 cars, ... .

Guess I needed to vent my emotions a bit.

Come on, guys.. Do standard cars really look that bad?

No I don't think so!

They don't look horrible, but it's clear how inferior they are to the premium cars. If you look back a few pages, you can see the minolta car, I think, and see it's all just a flat surface. Lights look like stickers. Just gt4 cars with a few extra pixels.

Well folks, I think this is unfortunately the end result of what your cars will look like when they are transfered from GTPSP, which is guess what?.

I'm not following.

But from the 200 cars almost all are supercars and race cars (plus some modern 4 doors like the Evo X), so the building up a career with some old '90's cars etc. won't be possible in real GT5 standard.

what I think started all this is the missleading.. If they came out straight and marketed the game as saying there will be 200 fully modeled cars and with that you get the Extra bonus 800 cars from GT4 and cleared everyhing up for everyone in the beginning then I dont think people would over react like that cuz we would all know what to expect.

Even tho im dissapointed I will still buy this Day 1... I guess thats all that really matters in the end.

lol.

This place is going to blow up once they tell us we only get 20 tracks (eg. Indy, Daytona, Nurb. all have 3 or 4 variations). And yes, it's true.

20 locales. Sure, there's a bunch of different layouts, but Daytona is a location, Indy is a location, Nurb is one, Madrid... etc, etc.

Old cars and only 20 tracks. yikes.

I'm sure there will be some older premium cars at a beginner level. I can't imagine if the first car you buy in GT5 would be a standard car.

Don't get me wrong but how cares about street cars,I love GT for Racing-cars and super-cars!!just my though !!

I do! And I know tons of people here that do too!

That's exactly what I mean. Will be a good game though, just not even slighty the GT5 we all waited for.

I feel like I've been living a lie

So for GT6 are they still going to ride this GT4 train or are these cars actually going to get an overhaul? For real this time.

Yeah, most likely cars like the Cervo from GT5:P (now it makes sense), but most of the cars I was looking forward to won't be for sure.

GT5, official disappointment simulator

lol.

Now, would you be upset if they used upscaled GT4 tracks?

Not dissapointing at all. We will still get over 200 SUPER HD cars, Compare those to Forza, as well ALL CARS WILL HAVE TOP NOTCH PHYSICS, Someting FORZA lacks off.

Let's hope they will gradually release free (!) updates for standard cars. I don't need them to be as detailed as the premiums, but highres textures and some extra subdevisions for the model should at least be possible.

So happy the Viper GTS was in GT5:P, that's mostly my second car in GT mode.

The Ruins of an Abbey Built 800 Years Ago

This stage is set 30km south from the city of Sienna in middle Italia, at the abbey of San Galgano in the Hills of Tuscany. It is a ruin of a structure built back in the 13th century.
That background looks real, I cannot wait to get stuck into the Photomode in this game 👍
It seems to be a real photo mixed with computer generation.

Look like GT5 standard cars are just pulled out straight from GT4, with some facelift botox type of smoothness.

Looks ok, but not as well as what we have come to expect... i guess we have been spoiled by the 8 Mpix photos from the past few months.

Huge difference between Premium cars and Standard cars...

Now looking back at the recent e3 event, it seems that PD and Kaz understood how much we expected from them.

Unfortunately they knew they could not deliver our wildest dreams, therefore they try to downplay, dodge and be elusive as much as possible about every single specific questions coming from us.

No wonder we get so many "maybe"s from Kaz during the Honda interview.

I will still buy the game. i just hope we are not going downhill from here (meaning getting bad news as the date nears)

You've eased my worries a bit with this post 👍
If this is the best that PD can offer us atm, so be it.
