I find it so amusing how serious some of you take every bit of information or video.

We still are yet to see the game in its full capacity of development and the damage still has not yet been fully shown to us which will be spectacular giving how the premium cars have been modeled as individual components. Lets base judgement on the game when its released and I think its silly to make a big fuss over stuff that yes may or indeed, may not change or improve. Can anyone here having an issue about the standard model cars low res textures be 100% certain that this build and video shown will be the final quality. The answer is no so why should it take over the thread?

On the bright side weve got to see and learn more about GT5 in the last few days than we got in the last 2 years...
Looking to be an awesome game......

It was a bit of a disapointment to see that the standard models won't have detailed interior but if the physics are better then that makes this game worth it. The Nissan GT-R concept from GT5P looks fine on the outside.

I'm looking forward to this massive game.

lol.

This place is going to blow up once they tell us we only get 20 tracks (eg. Indy, Daytona, Nurb. all have 3 or 4 variations). And yes, it's true.

20 locales. Sure, there's a bunch of different layouts, but Daytona is a location, Indy is a location, Nurb is one, Madrid... etc, etc.

Old cars and only 20 tracks. yikes.

I'm guessing you joined just to troll?

Looks like I was right. All the Skylines will be standard except the R35 and the racing versions!

I would imagine the R34 GTR Nurb Spec II from GT5P will be premium

What a terrible way to end it though, with some GT4 cars :/

I was honestly looking forward to driving the unpopular cars in glorious HD, and was soooo ready to pick up an HD TV just for GT5. Now it might not be the case anymore

How were you right? There's an R34 in Prologue and we also saw an R33 shown in Prologue screens (so those would be premium cars). There was also an R32 in GTHD which was a premium model as well (no interior view selectable in GTHD but it was modelled). So hopefully they adapt these interiors to all the appropriate Skylines in GT5. So any R34 will have the GT5P cockpit and so on (even if it's supposed to be different it's much better than no cockpit)

Not at all. I'm eagerly anticipating GT5 as much as anyone. I just can't believe the negativity around here, and the pie-in-the-sky expectations, demands, assumptions.

I dont think people realize the amount of work that goes into modeling a single "premium" car.

PD would have had to fully model an entire car (inside AND out) every other day for the past 5 years to reach 1000. How anyone thought that was doable or reasonable is beyond me.

Don't get me wrong but how cares about street cars,I love GT for Racing-cars and super-cars!!just my though !!

Who cares? I would say most of the people who play GT games. It sold so well because you could drive normal cars unlike other games at the time.

First off, i fail to see anywhere it's been stated _clearly_! that there is no cockpit view in standard cars. It is all a matter of interpitation, and I look at it as there will be cockpitview in all cars, but not as detailed as in premium.

Second, if you want more than 200 premium cars, then you can drop the 2010 release date, and put a 2020 releasedate+ on it, if you want all 1000 cars to be premium. I don't want that. I much rather want to have some nice cars, a good game driving wise, GTmode as we know it + some new maybe, better online, and overall astonishing graphics. Then i can live with 200 cars being much smoother and more detailed than the rest 800. Easily...

PS: Good thing about ps3 = you can get DLC! See what i did there?

Anyone who still has GTHD on their PS3 will know that the GT4 upscales still look amazing.

Yes, that's true, but I just wish PD had brought all the cars up to date inculding with cockpit views instead of putting so much effort into 200 or so.

Guys, I am getting pretty sick of you all saying you wont buy the game because the standard cars have no cockpit view! We have no definitive confirmation either way just Kaz and other PD/Sony execs skirting the question leading to speculation. Whether there are cockpits or not anyone on this site would not be here unless they were a fan of the game hence GTPlanet! You do know that GT stands for Gran Turismo here yeah... Stop whining and just be greatful we finally have a release date! I was in Tokyo for last years TGS and we were all pretty annoyed we didn't get a release date then (massive understatement) We now have a release date and loads more awesome information and videos and still you all find something to whine about! It's just childish and pathetic. Don't get me wrong I love this community, we have some great debates but the childishness in this thread has got a bit extreme and you are doing yourselves no favours. Think what PD would be thinking of you all if they are reading this (it is a possibility) If I was them and I saw half the posts in this thread I would delay the game again just to piss you off a bit more!!

Sorry to rant but it is getting ridiculous! Just grow up a bit and enjoy the FACTS that we have been given...

I feel like I justed watched a video of GT4. I would have thought they had at least updated the exteriors.

Do you know what this means? Not only is damage and cockpit view limited to the premium cars. But the in-depth customisation they keep mentioning is probably going to be limited to the premium cars too.

The question remains, what becomes of the other 800 cars in the future? Do PD attempt to bring them all up to the premium level? What about the thousands of cars that they don't have yet? What direction are they going to go with? If they can only finish 200 in 4-5 years, how are they going to go about GT6? We're either going to see a 5+ year development cycle again, just to bring the other cars up to the 'premium' level, but then they'll need to add more cars ontop of that. The chances are, standard cars will make a return in GT6 aswell.

If they release updates of some of the older models, will they charge for the DLC, for what we should have got in the first place? I certainly hope not, because that is very much like the micro-payment system that they proposed for GT:HD 4 years ago, which naturally caused uproar among GT fans.

The only upside I can see is that the 200 or so premium cars are completely future-proof in terms of development, they never need to be touched again. That is good in the long term and I feel they have made the right decision by doing this. But for the short term... I feel they have alienated a large proportion of their fanbase. They will lose a lot of sales over this, guaranteed.

p.s. I'm still pre-ordering the collector's edition ASAP. This has not put me off.

We're still getting a hell of a lot of content.

1,000+cars.

Day/night cycles

Customization

Weather (maybe)

But 5 years never hurt so good.

Guys did anyone notice the sound in the official standard car video

The muscle cars specifically

From recent videos it looks like sound has improved but have PD just ported the sound samples as well for the 80% of standard cars?

Well then I suggest you dont buy the game or a HDTV if its such a BIG issue for you.
