That is exactly what I said some time ago. If they do not put more than 16 standard cars on the track a lot of resources are going to waste.

Everything else is based on those premium models, those flat trees and spectators will all now seem so much worse now. 👎

Why use last gen fixtures like that if the main car models are pseudo last gen, if the system's resources are not going into to cars and some of the fixtures in environment are last gen where is it going.

Gamescom is in August, that's all I'm saying.

Now lets play, Guess whats real and whats GT5

Guys did anyone notice the sound in the official standard car video

The muscle cars specifically

From recent videos it looks like sound has improved but have PD just ported the sound samples as well for the 80% of standard cars?

I noticed that too, and to be honest, the sound sucked big time:banghead:

Welcome back to 2004, when the muscle cars sounded like vacuum cleaners(at least in Gran Turismo 4):ouch:

Hey, I've got an idea. Let's bring in all the cars directly from GT, GT2 and GT3 into GT5. Then we will have more cars then ever, and it doesn't matter if the cars differ in quality, cause after all, we will have thousands of them. Remember, It's the number that matters:mad::mad:

Explain yourself! (You mean interior customizing?)

I doubt standard cars will have body kits or any visual upgrades, exhausts, things like that. That only leaves premium cars and even those are doubtful now, don't you think?

The fact that standard models are simply upscaled makes me wonder if we can customize certain parts. Then again, why couldn't we?

KY said in his Twitter responses that GT5 will have better customizing than in GT4. Do you really expect the game to cater to only 200 cars in this way, as well?

Even though the 800 standard cars are upscaled, is it technically impossible to customize them? I'd say no (look at GT4). Customization was possible there (though very minimal).

Okay, 1000 cars.... awesome, astonishing in fact. But how is it okay to only completely modeling 1/5 interiors?? I thought PD was built with the mindset of "do it right or don't do it at all"?

If you can only completely finish 350 cars then make a game with 350 cars, don't brag about 1000 cars then later announce that they are really split up into different quality groups. This is going to make GT game play inconsistent and lacking in credibility. "Standard" cars are going to look sub-part next to their completed counterparts. It's the consistency that matters here not quantity.

It's going to look completely bizarre when these beautiful "premium" cars are racing along side "standard" ones as their is clearly a difference. Right off the bat the standard cars on the latest video have tinted windows and noticeably less detail.

GT is still in a league of its own but, it's just weird the decisions they make.

BTW I never use cockpit view..

I said VISUAL!
Absolutely. After the bomb that was dropped on us today, I'm expecting the worst for every aspect that is unknown.
If exterior parts like body kits were made using GT5 tech, then they would never look good on the 800 standard cars.

I'm confused.

From the "standard car" video I watched, you clearly could see inside the car.

And, the car models, outside of a couple of exceptions, actually looked really really good. (Premium car good? No, but still pretty good.)

But, going on the assumption that there will be no cockpit view for standard cars I have another question.

How will they be integrated into the game?

Will award cars only be premium?

Will you be able to customize standard cars?

Are "premium" cars only high end race cars? I was really looking forward of getting into the cockpit of one of the muscle cars.

Does this destroy the notion of a "Used Car" system. Or will Used cars only be standard cars?

Will the cars we unlock fro GTPSP and GT5P be standard or premium?

Are races "segregated" by which type of cars?

Gah! So many questions and so long to wait for answers.

"The developers have created fully modeled interiors for the Premium cars, as well as doing detailed modeling for the car’s undercarriage and even the exhaust pipes! The Standard cars apparently won’t have the exact interior modeling. For example, an Enzo’s interior will look like the real deal, but your typical Mustang’s will look like exactly like Mustang’s."

My take (optimism): This is a ambiguous comment, but perhaps it's stating that all premium cars like the Enzo, ZR1, 458 Italia, etc, will be perfectly rendered and true to life. But older cars, (most gathered from previous GT titles), will have interiors that are basic to the same model. Example, a C5 Vette will look like any other Vette from the inside (except the premium ZR1, of course.). A C2's Vette will look the same inside as a C3 Vette. In this case, no interior view means "no interior view true to real life/true to the exact year and model."

Yes, very optimistic.
But that's just how you are.👍

I edited my post some, but the idea remains the same.

I don't use cock-pit views often, but we were all hoping for 1,000 of them.

Still, the game is huge. Cannot deny that.
👍:)

Except for the annoying size and color of the font, this sounds like a pretty good explenation.

No you can't. It seems to be getting a bit smaller by the day, though.
Thankfully Medal of Honor beta is just a week away.

The E3 demo has playable muscle cars which must be premium then, but no one has freaking taken a video of them being played which is a shame.

I think GT mode will be a mixture of standard and premium but the damage will be limited in both to that of standard models. So Used car sales will have a mixture hopefully.

I've always wanted to drive some classics(most of them are in GT4) using the cockpit view :(

Ditto. I still don't see why my explanation doesn't work:

Any Vette, other than the C6 Z06 and the C6 ZR1, should have ONE cock-pit view.

Any Lamborghini, other than the new models (LP 640, 560-4), should have the same cock-pit view.

Any Ferrari, other than the new models (Enzo, 458 and the F40 from Prologue), should have the same interior view.

Those 200 cars are future proof, and providing they keep the licenses, those 200 cars will be in GT6, GT7 and so on and so forth. And they don't need to be touched, at all, regardless of the improvements in the hardware, because they are already so detailed.

Watch how people moan when they are carried over to GT6, and people start calling that GT5.5 etc. ;)

I'd rather at least a generic cockpit for those 800 cars. You know, just a bland looking cockpit that is the exact same for all of them but just modified slightly to correctly fit the width of each car. Or maybe a few different possible cockpits for different eras (older looking ones for old cars, newer ones for modern cars, very basic racing cockpits for racing cars).
