I'm sure we'll see standard models in gameplay action soon.

Also, I'm sure we'll see customization too.

Do you guys think standard cars could be customized as in depth as the premium models?

I'm gonna disagree. Remember Kaz telling us that the detail they had designed into the GT4 cars was beyond that of what they could do on the PS2? Now in gt5, you're finally getting those over-designed gt4 cars. Simple as that.
I don't mind it, I'm not sure why we're having a fit over this? For those that are mad at apparent lack of cock pit view, move on.

Which is not a bad thing. Considering how long it took them to model the 200(+) premium models, I would rather they do this than try to do the other 800 cars the same way.

Just took a few screen caps from the demo and these look pretty good. That one pic of the R8 just looked really bad from the shadow. The glare needs to be reduced but otherwise the cars look pretty good.

Can we go back to discussing positive news, new features that just been unveiled? This premium vs standard has been debated to death the last 20 pages (I think if PD read the forums, they'd know this by now)

When you think about it, we are still getting all (or most of) GT4 cars PLUS GT5 cars. That's mindblowing in itself.

Take into account all the features, and soon people will forget this tiny rage fad. I'm already getting over it.

Yeah was saying about the over designed models back here

:)

On a positive note I found all the info about the online modes and the track days and the like to be fantastic! Really can't wait. Am also glad rollover is allowed on both standard and premium :)

I'm definitely over it. I know for a fact that when this game comes out, I will absolutely enjoy it the way it is. I was playing GT4 tonight and having a blast. People can fuss all they want, but it won't change the way I feel about it.

This seriously is a bit odd. Another poster said that the Corvette might be 'premium' but downgraded to 'standard' when entering a race with other 'standards'. This would kind of make sense, what do other people think?

'Premium' - Same Corvette, has an Interior and looks better.

'Standard' - Same Corvette, no interior and looks a bit worse.

EDIT: Has anyone noticed how the GT5 version has an radio aerial but the GT4 car doesn't?

The standard corvette does have an interior. You can see it in other parts of the vid. Cars in GT4 had outlines of drivers and seats when looking through the tinted windows.

They do actually look rather good, not quite as good as 'premium' but still good. I now understand PD's reasoning for reusing the models. They are pretty accurate and still look reasonably good, despite their age. I suspect we will get a higher percentage of 'premiums' in GT6.

Seriously. Online in this is going to be LUDICROUS with Track Days and 16-32 players online, assuming the netcode's able to keep up.

We're getting most of ALL GT cars. As for the features, we still don't know a lot of them so we're in for more surprises, probably good and bad.

Anybody who actually understands what a 3D model is will understand what I'm saying. All they did to the GT4 models was port them into a better graphics engine that runs a higher resolution, slapped on some higher resolution textures and MAYBE an extra detail or two (which, currently comparing the GT5 Standard video to my GT4 running in 1080i, not really seeing anything different). They're the same models, just running at a higher resolution. The biggest difference will probably be in more rounded curves, especially fenders. But seriously...a whole generation leap and that's it?

Standard cars obviously look standard compared to premium lol but I want cockpit view :indiff:

GT5 gfx engine is so much better than other racing games so not sure why so many are complaining

You people really don't get it, do you? Photomode does NOTHING TO THE ACTUAL CAR MODEL. IT DOES NOT ADD ANY POLYGONS OR DETAIL. I took that picture from a live B Spec race.

WOOOOOOOOOW.

Get what? just kiddin man!

Anyways, I am really excited for GT5 after all this info and videos.
I prefer driving over bickering: GT5P for another 4 1/2 months! :dunce:

The new particle effects are beautiful, they really are. When I was watching the video with the WRC cars at night, I got even more excited. Good job PD!

The terminology you are using, makes it sound like you THINK you know what you're talking about.

Those pics look just the same as GT4.

Also, judging by the tinted windows I guess thats what they mean by "no interior view" but does this mean no dash?
what's the point of having 200 cars with dash view and 800 without? If that's the case then this game will become the laughing stock of this whole entire industry.
But I'm hoping for PD's sake that isn't the case, these pics do however clear up a bit of confusion with the cockpit/interior view. That said, the dark windows look horrid, and makes it look just the same as GT4. Just my opinion anyway.

I will be on GT5p until September when I switch to F1 2010 for two months then happiness will reign :).

Races and Track Days
First and foremost is the Race. In addition to the free match races as seen in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue where you don’t know who you’ll race against next, it will now be possible to gather your closest friends and acquaintances, set a variety of rules, and enjoy races the way you want to.
And of course racing isn’t the only thing you can do. You can host "Track Days", where everyone can drive freely on the track. You can try to reduce your laptimes, teach someone how to drive, or just enjoy drifting. There’s an infinite amount of ways to have fun here.

This just sounds so good!

Also at least it looks better than this

lol, don't judge me too harshly!

The terminology you are using, makes it sound like you THINK you know what you're talking about.

I've created my own 3D models before, and have seen what resolution alone can do for car models. Like I said in an earlier post, I used to mod older games like Need for Speed High Stakes on PC. Car models look DRASTICALLY different when theyre shown on a PC running 800x600 with no antialiasing, then on another PC running 1280x1024 with 4xAA. You'd be amazed how much difference that makes.

👍 Not to sound desperate but the web site did not say no cockpit. If you look at the light chart it clearly says standard wont have high beams.

I'm saying you sound like you don't know what you're talking about, not that you don't. Use some technical mumbo jumbo so people believe you.

Track days sound fantastic. Imagine how fun it will be to hang around with proper players, less rammers, etc. GT5 is going to be incredible! I don't mind the 'standard' cars anymore, I cannot wait for November.

P.S. It's now 6am here in the UK, I should really get some sleep but I can't tear myself away from here.
