I'm pretty sure most of them are from GT4, the others are from GTPSP. (R8 LMS, etc.)

As I said, the models would look tons better with 3-D wheels and sharper textures.

The cars themselves are the same as in gt4 and gtpsp yes, but the models are not the same.
As it says they have been recreated.

none complained when they saw this

Ahh I see now, those are in game shots but using photomode. You do realise you can do that right?

The SCEI must be a watermark it puts on, you don't get that in the EU version as far as I remember.

But yeah, still photomode. An easy mistake to make though.

This is a bit confusing. Some of them (the Lemans car posted earlier) look the same as GT4 but others such as the Corvette look better. Maybe PD are retexturing GT4 models with better textures? Or maybe they are both porting from GT4 and recreating certain cars?

Remember, 'recreated' sounds better than 'ported from GT4'. So be careful of marketing speech.

You're acting like photomode makes this HUGE night and day difference. All it does is clean up the resolution a bit (at most), and some post processing filters. The models themselves remain unchanged dude. Regardless, GT5 models shouldn't even have to be compared to GT4 photo models. Thats ridiculous.

"there's over 800 of them, they cover the majority of the vehicles included in all the previous Gran Turismo games, including the PSP version, and they've been optimised and upscaled for the PS3."

I think that quote sums it up.

You're the one comparing them. To my eyes, which work great BTW, the GT5 versions look tons better.

This Corvette (the same car as posted on the previous page) is in premium quality. WTF?

I think PD might be tricking us.

I don't think so, they have shown the standard cars in that video with lights, its just the way they look.

There's a C3 Corvette listed as Premium and then there's this standard model which we're busy bickering over.

Guys I just woke up and read all the big news on the front page, I was hoping to see some good news after last night disappointing twitter interview with Kaz.

I have seen the standard cars video, my question is, why are some cars windows blacked out and others you can see inside and can see the driver? This is really confusing me now

They look like the same model of corvette to me?
If you highlight the top picture, you can see an interior.
'Premium'

'Standard'

because the 800 standard cars will have no cockpit view

The GT4 cars do have interiors and see through windows, but those interiors are low detail and the windows are highly tinted so you basically get a silouette(sp)of the drivers head and maybe some of the headrest.

Man I don't want to argue with you but photomode DOES make a huge difference plain and simple.

I'm looking at the car ingame RIGHT NOW and it looks IDENTICAL to the screens I posted.

Taken seconds ago from my digi cam, and I didn't even turn on 1080i mode! GT5 now has EVERY ADVANTAGE and the differences still aren't very noticable.

If it is the same car that would possibly mean that if you put a premium car into a race with "Standard" cars it will be rendered standard.

Identical? Really? Are your eyes ok?

@stega I know that they won't have cockpit view, but what I was asking is why can you still see inside the car (ie windows are NOT tinted) and some other cars in the video are completely tinted and can't see any of the interior or the driver. If all standard cars have no interior, shouldn't ALL the standard cars have black window tints? This is why I'm confused, how can some standard cars have interior and some not? This is all judging from the standard cars video.
