O OK so this is why, i though it meant that standard cars wont have their unique interior. I wish they would just say cockpit! What ever it still will be a great game.

I think all the confusion comes from the usage of the word "cockpit view". For non English speakers, "cockpit" only means one thing: where the pilot controlling the airplane. I was born in a non-English speaking country and we never use cockpit to describe the inside of a car, we use interior, inside, in car view...

Oh cmon kingcars stop it will you.

A generic "whirring" sound doesn't cut it when theres a pack of 8-10 muscle cars blasting by at 100mph. I apologize, but anyone who has played a decent PC racing sim within the past several years will know where I'm coming from. Games where all cars have damage, cockpit views, fully rendered interiors, better physics, realistic sounds, the list goes on. (Sure, there aren't as many cars, but that just means that they didn't bite off more than they can chew, then cover it up for 4 years.) Heck, go look up the Enduracers mod for rfactor. The work that just a small group of modders is doing shows that Polyphony has no excuse for this.

That is how car sounds should be. And that's created by amateurs.

Instead of wasting time on designing retarded paddle-shifting animation and pretty photo locations they could easily make cockpit view for every car, maybe even so lame as in FM3.

I think most of you are going through denial and anger, when you get over it you will see that the situation isn't as bad as you're making out. The game will still be incredible and even the 'standard' cars will be good and they aren't simply ports from GT4, they appear to be touched up.

I have never imagined, not even once, that it would be so hard to understand what we know about this game. Is it Kaz's words that we find hard to understand (do we have cockpits for standard cars or not)? If so, there has never been a riddler such as he. If not, then we are all just stupid. It annoys me that even when I think that we will have cockpits for standard cars, someone comes along and just re-arranges the sentence to make me doubt myself...
I still think that we will have cockpits, but common, this is getting rediculous...

I feel you bro! read this and stick to your own thought until we see a standard car being driven.

"More than 800 car models included standard

Go to movie page and click on the image
"Gran Turismo" with their huge number of cars included in the series, "PlayStation 3" and the current technology, what more beautiful reproduction of this car "standard" is.

The recording volume, how over 800 models. Age range, the richness of variety to choose from different categories, "Standard Car" will say the biggest attraction."

※ "Standard Car" does not correspond to the interior view."

This is straight from the Japanese web site translated. The same article

Translated from the Japaneses web site

"Premium car" would represent an attractive thing for you to reproduce at depth. Exterior (exterior) as well, especially in a high degree of repeatability in the interior if [Gran Turismo 5.

From race cars to commercial vehicles, instrument panel look different for each car, as well as seats and interior trim materials, colors ranging, thorough and reproduce.

If you read the bold it says the interior view that can be easy miss translated to their interior view, just as many other words are out of place during the translation.

After reading this from the Japanese website this makes me belive that standard cars interiors will not be represented 100% accurately and that premium will have down to the last stitch of detail however both with cockpits view

That more or less have ported a generic sound from another mod.

Hahahaha. Uh. No. From the features list:

Realistic sounds for all cars using real sound samples thanks to the help of several racing teams.

Check out the comparison I posted a few posts ago as well. Same mod. And once again, very close to the real thing. Scratch made sounds, models, and textures.

Just to elaborate on my previous post. Check out this comparison.

Here is the GT5 Standard car video:
http://eu.gran-turismo.com/gb/gallery/d13430.html
16 seconds into the video, you hear a Corvette race car go by. Note the sound.

Compare that to how the real Corvette sounds:

Now listen to the custom sound in a high quality rfactor mod:

I think this is pretty self explanatory.

I dunno where that guy came from but he just popped up and started spouting off a bunch of FUD like he knows what he's talking about... I wouldn't worry yourself with him too much.

Yeah haha...it was only like Mod of the Year for rFactor and every aspect of it is scratch made and incredibly high quality. I suppose I've been spoiled by the PC sim racing community, despite being a die hard GT fan since I got the first game back in '98. I really thought GT was gonna catch up with the rest of the world. :indiff:

So that's it? Standard cars do not have a dash or cockpit view? Sorry Polyphony Digital but you've just lost a customer. Wasted 5 years of my life following the progress of this garbage.

I don't really get this...if the game's fun, got damage and private lobbies, who cares if there's only 200 premium cars?

200 is WAY more than enough to have plenty of fun, most of those 800 remaining standard cars are just Skylines anyway lol.

Going into something more worth debating about (to me anyway), I'm very excited and interested in alot of the new online features. One particular thing I'm wondering about is with now the ability to record videos to send directly to youtube, if it would be possible to use this in "Spectator Mode". Perhaps we could record not just races but also online track days, test sessions, qualifying and more as I've seen with Forza 3. Just the thought of broadcasting a race from some of the series we have here on GTP has me very excited as this is something I've always thought of doing.

The biggest question of all time about PD for me is:
If cars and tracks take so much time WHY THEY NOT HIRE ANOTHER PEOPLES?
There no need to coordinate them, let them work and that's it!OMG JUST TRIPLE THE TEAM AND ALL PROBLEMS SOLVED PD...OMG OMG OMG.6 years.

Unless I just missed it, youtube uploading has been pretty much not mentioned... I hope that's just becuase it's in and done and that's it. There are definitely some good opportunities to put it to use...

I can only image how big Normal Events are when you click it.

It'll probably be divided into:

NASCAR

WRC Rally

Le Mans

Super GT

Regional Championships (production cars)

ETC ETC

And in race restrictions glowing the text: PREMIUM CARS ONLY!

They've mentioned it before on that features list at TGS. Its still there on the US portion, just have to look on page 3 in the news section.

I was talking more about now at E3... I haven't heard about it here which I would think either means it's in and there is nothing to talk about or it's out and they are being quiet about it.

I would think it's in...

Come to think of it, we really haven't seen any of the online features in action other then with the GT Academy finalists. I'd say its in though.

Wasn't it on the features on the US GT website?

Yep, and it still is.

-> I can't wait playing Vision GT, GTHD, GTPSP, GT5P and GT5 on GT5!!!

~> As a matter of fact, five games in one seem like of a good deal!!! :dopey:
