Deffo not...
Like I said earlier....
Sonys whole 3DTV release schedule begins in June , thats for both US and UK markets with Japan around the same time too. Considering most other major TV brands have already started shipping or will be before Sony release their 3DTVs.
Are we to believe E3 has nothing to do with Sony delaying their 3DTV launch to June or indeed that its just coincedence? Considering the lack of 3DTV content available to push this format forward, a real lack of 3D Blu Rays isnt enough. Additionally consumers have to not only purchase an expensive 3DTV but then an expensive 3D Blu Ray player. This all falls right into Sonys benifits....
Consoles were a big part of HDTV sales so maybe Sony is thinking PS3 and indeed PS 3DTV content can be a major factor to help drive 3DTV sales and of course more sales of their PS3 hardware.
The PS3 is the only option for consoles to offer proper 720p 3D gaming, Microsoft cant offer this with X360. It will hlep promote PS3 as superior to X360 now. Not to forget a free update will convert a PS3 for 3D Blu Ray making it an attractive purchase and saving 3DTV purchasers from having to buy a dedicated 3D Blu Ray player.
Add in some 3DTV games and well if a consumer is going to want 3DTV Sony seem to be making a statement that the PS3 is "the best platform" to use to enjoy such content. If GT5 isnt part of this promotion Id be shocked particulary if it doesnt help promote PS3 and 3DTV.
Seriously if PS3 3D Games are not on display at E3 I will stop drinking coffee.
Sony have the chance to own E3 this year, its 10x more important than TGS and hopefully they will be showcasing PS3 3DTV update / Move / Head-Tracking and of course GT5.
Dont forget this is Sonys biggest and likely most expensive ever title and therefore its release has to maximise sales of more hardware as well. Its only now at this years E3 that all this 3DTV stuff is in place to which GT5 is definately linked and imo is Sonys leading game to promote it. If this is the case then it doesnt make sense that GT5 perhaps isnt released to FALL. Even so E3 has to be the place we finally get to learn and hopefully see much more of it.
GT5 is it really just another game release for Sony or much more?
A 3D GT5 demo at E3 isn't vital to the 3D hype or the GT hype.
Sony has plenty of other 3D titles to show off and all the Move stuff to promote as well which will be their main promotion.
A release date, new demo with some new cars and tracks, and lots of new info about the game will have all of us here and the media gaga about GT5 again.
