I do think that GT5 will make an appearance, I am sure I read somewhere that Kaz has already said he is going to E3.

If its out this year surely there has to be a release at either E3 or TGS, if its TGS for release date then I think E3 will be used to build up some more hype.

We have a winner! But to be honest, there is virtually no hype. You say we need more hype; I say we need hype in general!

All that is required to create huge hype is either a very revealing trailer spanning across the many features of GT5. Or simply put; a features list.

Because TGS 2009'S features list was weak. Far too vague. Honestly, it's time we know about the game. It won't spoil anything.

FM4 won't be out til' another 2-3 years.

We never know...it's Microsoft we are talking about, they can start milking that title like a cash cow sorta like how EA does with NFS or Activision is going to do with CoD (Which will have 2-3 titles being released in the next 2 years!!).

With all respect to Forza, wouldn't it have to sell a lot more in order to be milk-able like Activision tends to do with yearly COD and Guitar Heros? And Activision "going to" start milking COD happened about 3 + years ago. We've had one annually running on same engine with relatively small updates. Almost as bad as Madden.

GT is still one of Sony's top first party published franchises! If it's actually coming out this year (otherwise I'll probably give up) then they've pretty much got to show it off at E3! Now that could mean we'll see about 10 seconds of footage in a press roll montage about upcoming games. And that'd be lame. But it could also mean we'll get new vids, new hands on impressions, new details, ACTUAL information! I'm betting on the latter, assuming that Sony can find the time in their address to stop metaphorically fellating the idea of 3d home entertainment.

Last year's E3 trailer got me pretty excited, then the excitement died. So I'm expecting a more up-to-date Trailer for this year showing new cars and new tracks. Something to build the hype on this forum again. Its weird to think that it's been almost an entire year since the last E3. It doesn't even feel like it, and I was thinking away back last year that GT5 would have been released in 2009 and right now as you read my post we'd be playing it. How far could you go in GT Mode in ten or eleven months? Maybe I'd be 60% or so by this point. But, none-the-less lets get on with E3 2010. Never know, they might even release it during or just before E3 as a surprise. ;)

Yeah I always swore we would have it before christmas 2009, since then it all went so fast...

They're not. FM4 is barely semi-confirmed at this point.

Kaz already stated that GT5 release is fully up to SONY, wich undoubtfull also means, SONY controls the info, pr etc.

There is several valid reasons why we haven't got release date yet, and why its realistic to get one at E3. Some might be true, others not.

- Shortage of PS3 consoles (fact), would be incredible stupid of SONY to launch a title they believe will boost sales of consoles with 300% +, with a shortage of consoles in stock.

- 3D (speculation), will come at E3 in June, and with GT5 as a major 3D title (the only big title at all, gaming wise) and the PS3 being the, by far, cheapest way to play 3DBR, it would boost sales of not only GT5, but also PS3s even more, and 3dTV. Would be stupid to let that chance pass.

- E3 compared to TGS, wich all agree is the 2 evets theres a chance we get the date, is a few months apart. If we get the release date at TGS, it will be a couple of months later soonest. That means most likely no holiday sales (marketing suicide) - E3 on the other hand could give a date within the last 3 months, still falling under "2010"

- SONY need GT5 to come out this year (financial) its been stated several times that top SONY directors wasnt satisfied with GT not being out 2009. SONY's economy right now is at a low turn. They simply need a big seller this year, a game can't do that alone ofc, but the synergy effect with consoles and 3D could do (E3 again)

- I personally (pure speculation) think SONY cares, thinks, and worries about other racing games. So a F1-2010 sept release (same time as TGS) would be too late for them. They wan't to sell as many copy's as possible (it's SONY afterall). While it is far from the majority, still quite a few would consider choosing F1 over GT5 purely because of the waiting time. E3 release date could minimize that.

All in all i think the odds for an E3 release date is quite good.

New revealing trailer that shows off new features of GT5.

An E3 2010 demo with all facets of the game updated.

A features list. Simple.

Release date.

And that's about it.

If they give you all that, what are they going to show for the rest of the year?

It was more of a statement with a ? at the end.
If they give you everything at E3, there will be nothing to show in the 3-5 months before release. This forum will be filled, again, with moaners saying PD isn't giving us anything.

E3 Prediction: Based on..... Nothing:P

We will get the release date in the form of an updated trailer. The trailer will focus on tracks that are making a comeback from older GT's (trying to amp the base).

And... an updated demo.

Release date will be in Sep/Oct

I'll take it.👍

This is all we can hope for and it will be enough to get us all excited again and relieved there is finally a release date to look forward to and leave enough room for speculation about which cars and tracks will be included, etc.
If we are all reassured about the whole interior view mistranslation debacle and have some new features added we all hoped for I do not even need a demo or more info unless PD wishes to give small teasers up until finally releasing the d#mn game.:)
