This coming from somebody who plays games, and hence has probably punched, kicked, stabbed, shot, run over, blown up, and generally killed and injired thousands of people, innocent or otherwise, in games over the years, as well as watched the same in movies and on TV...
Watch someone die in front of you from a serious injury. It's a lot different than what you'll ever see in a game or on TV & the emotions come in a strong wave.

So, please don't try to use violence in the media to justify your argument.

Seriously?
I said slightly disturbing. Same as it doesn't matter how many people you have killed online, I'm pretty sure you would find a photo of real killed person disturbing.

I've also seen films where people have been killed my sabotaged brakes or glued down accelerators. May have been entertaining in a film but, if you knew someone who had been hurt in real life, then it could be a little upsetting/disturbing.
I do have a friend who lost somebody due to pedal failure in a car.

Hmmm, I think you both need to learn the distinction between a joke being made in good humour, and an actual real life event.

Okay, okay, everyone take a deep breath and chill out.

It was only a dumb joke. The fact that it wasn't funny had nothing to do with the fact that it was dark.

I don't see how the joke is any different to the one you got offended about, in regards to your friends unfortunate circumstance.

Second please don't insult our intelligence, if I find something slightly disturbing, that's my opinion. You chose to follow it up, and criticise. You read far too much into my comment, that's your issue.

Maybe there was something about the "rhythm" of the way the posts read together that made that joke seem uncomfortable; or perhaps it was the phrasing, who knows.

I think the main problem with the joke is that it was a little bit close to the bone, in that there probably are people (somewhere) who would properly lynch Kaz & Co. just because they can't play their game as soon as they'd like. At least that's what makes me uncomfortable about it; mob mentality sucks, anyway.

The way Irnbrutwinturbo and analog responded was not an attack on mafia-boy at all.

Meh, just me practising my political neutrality and diplomatic correctness... ;)

I quick surf of the net and I've found nothing confirmed about GT5 being there. Alot of other games but not GT5. YET!! There's well over a month to go yet so I'm sure we'll hear something soon.

In other words, we've been here before. Now, ask yourself, with a rational sense of mind: Will GT5, the next title in Sony's best selling franchise, not appear at the largest gaming convention? Common sense is now seeping through, mate (or friend, whatever you say).👍:)

Now it's only a matter of what we will see. Hopefully more than another trailer. It's the middle of 2010. It's about time.

What if GT5 released in a 3D only version first, to encourage sales of the format thats doomed already it seems.

Said it perfectly.

I think mass riots would break out all over the globe.

A corrupt banking system and the ensuing financial and economic meltdown all over the world we could just about handle, but releasing GT5 first only as 3D version might indeed be the tipping point for mass hysteria on an apocalyptic scale.........

I thought GT5 came under Sony Computer Entertainment, but maybe I'm wrong :)

I don't even like to think about that. It's disturbing. Really, it is.

I am hoping for a world-wide release (both 3D and 2D GT5).

Yeah I dont think it would go down too well lads.....
Bit of a "giant crab"

I do hope that Sony get "Kevin Butler" to do one of those funny vids and using GT5, showcasing 3D, headtracking all that and poking fun at FM or Mario Kart etc.

Think hes brill...

Me too buddy, a worldwide release is mandatory, after many years, time cannot be an excuse for a earlier japanese release. :scared:

Frankly, a 3D and 2D simultaneous release is something that I find hard to believe. Also, I don't know if the game needs a 3D only and 2D versions, maybe 3D can be an option and both modes are supported by the very same game disc. I can't elaborate at this because I lack background and knowledge regarding 3D, but it's something I found fuzzy and unexplained. ;)

This time, a worldwide release should be doable. They have had plenty of time to work on the localization issues such as translation, race music selection and others, the things that usually result in staggered release. I'd think that the car selection should be universal.

You see, the key to all this is the fact that in a game, the people you kill, run over, etc, etc, are infact not real people, I know, it's a hard concept for some of you guy's to grasp, the difference between reality and the virtual world.

I didn't care too much for what the guy who made the comment said, didn't find it remotely funny, childish yes, thats something maybe my 7 year old would have a chuckle at.

If someone had actually carried out what the guy spoke of, now that would have been totally sick and perverted.

But then agan, thats just my opinion, but as I now know, TokyoDrift is always right and everyone else's opinon is wrong.

A cartoon is not a real person either. If Kaz was your personal friend, and you also knew somebody who hung themselves, fine, your personal circumstances would be grounds to be all PC about it.

I have spent many hours laughing at the same kinds of things my 9 year old daughter finds funny. I didn't think it was wrong to laugh at the same kind of humour younger kids find funny too

Right, but they didn't. It was a joke made in good humour - something that some of you seem to lack (or are just pretending to act this way like lemmings out to impress each other).

But then agan, thats just my opinion, but as I now know, TokyoDrift is always right and everyone else's opinon is wrong.
If you say so.

Wow my seven year old wouldn't understand that joke. Is their something wrong with my family?

Why keep this going.

Ive not said anything regards the pic or the replies.
However I dont think it was particulary funny. Those that find it funny are easily amused.
Irresponsible really and yet again one of TDs multiquote specials, really mate did you have to keep the flame going on this?
Your replies to DOCs comments are quite inappropriate as a parent and you dont seem to know what "good humour" is.

Considering the massive rise in suicides over recent years and hanging being one that has been the cause of many. I cant speak for everyone but even school children in our local area with pressure from exams etc in the past couple of years have taken such action and quite frankly the internet has been partly to blame.

Why dont the mods just NOW remove the pic rather than it cause further issues? If its offensive or in bad taste to some that should be enough reason to take action to remove it. Afterall this is a site visited by various age groups and no harm to anyone using their children as examples to warrent it okay I would prefer my own 10 year old daughter not to even become amused at such poor taste or indeed pretty lame jokes.

1. Those of us who found it funny are capable of quite easilty separating the facts of fiction from reality, putting things into context within the current state of events.

2. There will always be a group of people who just "go with the flow" and agree with whatever everybody else is saying in fear of being ridiculed for having a differing opinion that some see as sick, twisted, irresponsible or whatever.

3. As a responsible parent, I do everything I can to protect my daughter from the harsh realities of life, but at the same time, I also fully understand that she will be exposed to many things beyond my control during her school hours and time out with friends. It is up to me to discuss such things with her as a responsible growing child when needed, and build up that mutual trust and respect that every good parent should have with their child. Besides, I'm not the one who said my 7 year old may find the prospect of somebody hanging themselves amusing.

I agree, if people are taking such unjust offence at a cartoon, by all means have it, and any references to it, removed.

Cartoon image isnt the issue is it, its making fun of sucicide.
I dont think thats something GTP should want to be linked with.
How adults interrupt it may be different to kids...

As a parent myself Ive reported the image as "possibly offensive" and certainly "bad taste"
Others that feel the same can also report it.

That's fine, you have that right and I fully respect that. However, I don't read into any of this as making fun of suicide. That's just reading into things way more than is necesary. At worst I'd agree to it being in "bad taste" as you said.

I dont care what you think, you had no real reason to bring it up again other than to continue to argue with folk.

Lets talk about E3 again, if your ready?

Tokyo, let it go dude. There is no point to continuing the discussion further, you're not going to change their minds, they're not going to change yours. If they want to insult you for finding the joke funny, so be it. It doesn't matter anyways.

Mr Latte, thank you for trying to re-direct the conversation in the correct direction.

Jesu christi... This is supposed to be about a game. People have different humor everywhere, varying from country to country, region to region, and person to person. Just leave it at that, and get over it. If you should have such discussion each time someone said "i prefer a red EVO over a black one" because you like black better, it would be a nightmare to be in here :(

Just... move along, E3 is comming up soon (no fun intended), and with this days interview on the front page, it looks interesting :S
