Didn't the FC retail when it first came out at around 25k or so? Plus, I can only imagine what a mint FC with 0 miles on it would cost someone.

I guess that is my fault. I forgot it counts as a new car in the dealership lol.

I have a little feeling in my ass that it will be some kind of pack with few free tracks and few cars....

Ops didnt read the whole thing

So How Big is Gran Turismo 5?
Since the beginning of time, mankind has waited for the release of Gran Turismo 5. Ok, well maybe not since the beginning of time, but it's been a while. Gran Turismo 5 is finally releasing on Wednesday 24th November, and inevitably it has been leaked on to the internet beforehand.

So how big is this game? God of War 3 was approximately 40GB in size, and a game like Gran Turismo 5, which has over 1000 cars and tons of levels and gameplay modes must be just as big right?

Wrong, the game is approximately 19.5GB in size, still too big for a DVD, but I'm guessing everyone expected it to be bigger than that. The small size can however be explained easily if the game is using more shaders rather than textures, because the cars don't necessarily need to be textured, and a shader

Even if that will appear ingame i dont think that millisecond of tearing or whatever it is will will make me ,, "

I really really dont get why some people are nitpicking on every smallest unpretty thing they see! Are you watching every video you find frame by frame just to point something bad out? I really cant understand all this negativnes that eats this forum the last month!

If there is still interest I can post pics of standard cars in about 1-2 hours, if you think there are enough I can just go play hahha, but yeah ill post pics if there is still a demand for it, if not I wont bother :)

Please do. I like standards as much as I like premiums.

The screen tearing actually happened pretty often, was easy to capture it, and that wasn't what I was pointing out toward, it's the pixelated wipers. Quite hideous.

Honda CR-X
Honda Del-Sol
Honda Ballade Sports CR-X 1.5

If you don't mind. I would just like to see if they have improved the graphics. Because some of the standard cars look better than others.

holy COW, that screentearing in the subaru snow video had better be from recording it off a tv with a camera, that is just ridiculous.
There is awful screentearing for literally 90 percent of the time in that video...

It's probably either a bad tv (unlikely), bad camera, or bad youtube upload. The youtube compression is the most likely cause, skipping out frames to reduce the file size (compression).
It's pretty hard to notice if you're looking at the track, rather than the wipers, though.

Question, I'd just like to know when I get Gran Turismo 5... How do you get your photos from Photo Mode onto your computer so you can share them with everyone on this thread?

Not really but that is crappy quality video. SLS video is better and there are many others too but what is black horizontal line

Nevermind the bar,. but the pixelation is THERE and if you dont see it you are in DENIAL, thers several examples of this pixelation goto GAMEKULT.com and you will see 17 pages of new screens(ok not he highest quality but that pixelation is NOT cuz of the artifacts of poor image file quality).

Accept it and go...This is not an issue unless there is A)smoke from behind seen form the front, or B)any rain and possibly C)dirt\dust. Then the car gets pixelated...

The cars on SSR7 dry already looked way better than wet, thers something strange about he cars reflections when it rains, its suposed to be overcast and cloudy and dark., yet the cars shine like its the middle of summer. Think they forgot to dull the reflection effects in rain, woulda probably freed up some RAM and probably not have these pixelation issues...

Just because you can see pixellation in a screenshot doesn't mean you can see it in motion. This is one of the reasons GT5 will have such amazing graphics, because they save lots of power from things such as the window wipers, and put that into the important graphics.

Edit: and even if you can see it, there are much bigger problems... You won't even notice it, if you look at what your supposed to be looking at - the track.

Not HD but better quality than Mclaren video. Water effect can get better nex time but it is fine.

The "pixelation" that people are complaining about is on account of aliasing when on screen effects such as water spray are present anywhere in the Z order other than at the front. The semi-translucent water / snow (and dirt) spray are a lower-res buffer effect (compared with the main frame buffer) and it doesn't always play nice when applied to the cars, trees, signs, etc - resulting in what looks like a dark shimmering outline against the white spray.

You can see it clearly here, if you take note of the trees, cars (anywhere you see water spray in the mid-Z order) etc... I'd actually consider it a bug for PD to fix.

It does look quite bad on the exterior replays. I wouldn't say it was a bug though - PD clearly must know about it. I mean - I can't believe that they didn't sit down and watch at least one replay in the wet? I guess its something they have to let go, in order to keep the graphics/framerate at the standards needed?

Thank you lordvonps3, you CAN see it in motion or else who would care, first time i noticed it was the RX7 drifting video, PD is well aware, because if you try to take a Replay Photo it is smoothed out with post processing, but if you screenshot the actual Replay or gameplay it appears.

NOTHING that will ruin the game, considering most of the game will not be played in the rain\Snow\dirt.

But this wont go down well with drifters\rally drivers who always leave clouds of whatever in their wake.

I wouldnt get my hopes up wth patches and wat not because, PD knows about this, and they did what they could to conceal it, meaning they couldnt find a workaround, so they implemented a partial remedy.

Honestly thought what i find strange is that from behind, its not even there, but as soon as you see the car from the front or side, boom its there.:S Maybe the mist seen from behind is blurring the pixels i dont know but its strange.

The screen is not tearing, the wiper blade appears to be though. This and other tearing, low res detail 'in front of smoke' effect, occasional slowdowns and other anomalies all exist in the game - at times.

The point is though that the effects and the performance are a careful balancing act. You could, for example, tone the whole lot down all the time in case of 'worst case senarios' and have sparse graphics, low detail cars and never a torn frame or attempt as many smoke and mirror tricks as possible including low resolution effects and put up with the odd tear, glitch and slowdown with a noticable improvement in atmoshphere.

If tearing really would ruin this game for you then I recommend learning to blink strategically :)

The pixellation is a result blur being rendered as a postprocessing effect. When the partical effects being blured either by motion or depth of field are behind the object in focus it can sometimes cause the edges of the in focus object to blur or pixellate depending on the resolution and amount of anti-aliasing in the postprocceing effects.
That my theory anyway. I've had this happen when rendering scenes with 3D studio Max.
