It does look quite bad on the exterior replays. I wouldn't say it was a bug though - PD clearly must know about it. I mean - I can't believe that they didn't sit down and watch at least one replay in the wet? I guess its something they have to let go, in order to keep the graphics/framerate at the standards needed?

Everyone knows the replays only run at 30fps and I'm afraid we've seen smoke and so on before (done better). The issue is clearly z-order related regarding those particular spray effects and should be a fairly straightforward fix really.

Examples...
picture.php
(car rear, 0m15s)

picture.php
(leading car top / side, 1m08s)

picture.php
(foreground tree, 2m02s)

The spray effect buffer will be lower-res than the main buff, but it's so not so much DoF blur to blame for pixelation, good example is GT5P - you won't see these shimmering outlines just due to DoF blur.

Also GT5P with smoke http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWimgGVXmUM shows correct effect. i.e. car merges better with white smoke - see pic below for GT5P - apologies for quality. Interestingly enough, there's not much difference between water, dirt or snow spray other than the colour. I'd prefer to see that toned down a touch and a little less "thick".

Well lets hope PD release a patch. For all we know they could have already done it, and it will be downloaded on release day. It personally doesn't bother me much, as I think the rain spray looks a bit rubbish anyway, so I'm not likely to watch many replays.

I wouldn't really count on a patch for this. Checked it earlier and this exact same issue is in GT5 Prologue as well when you drive through the grass. Can count the pixels as well then. It was never fixed there, so I doubt they can do much about it.

In response to RedPhoenix:

Interior views for all 800 standard cars: Priceless? $100? 👎

I would gladly pay $100 to have the remaining 800 cars premium-ized. Im sure everyone on this forum would do the same. The good thing though the packs would be broken down by region, so if you didn't want to purchase the European one for ex, you wouldn't have to. My fingers are crossed.

The pixellation is a result blur being rendered as a postprocessing effect. When the partical effects being blured either by motion or depth of field are behind the object in focus it can sometimes cause the edges of the in focus object to blur or pixellate depending on the resolution and amount of anti-aliasing in the postprocceing effects.
That my theory anyway. I've had this happen when rendering scenes with 3D studio Max.

So would playing the game in 720p with 4xAA solve\help this issue?

Id rather play in 720p with smoother framerate and less pixelation, if thats possible.

It's going to be a shame to see GT go down that road, but buying wheels I should have got in the game, and can't even put them on all the cars would be a complete waste of money. Otherwise, the only car pack I would buy is something containing 'hypercars'

Just because you can see pixellation in a screenshot doesn't mean you can see it in motion. This is one of the reasons GT5 will have such amazing graphics, because they save lots of power from things such as the window wipers, and put that into the important graphics.

Edit: and even if you can see it, there are much bigger problems... You won't even notice it, if you look at what your supposed to be looking at - the track.

You know it may be that the pixellation has something to do with how the smoke effect works? Idk I'm no expert just a thought.

hahahaha. This sort of post makes me laugh.

You forgot different driver eye colours $1.99 each. How you can get all that from the link is beyond me.

I wonder if well see non-jumpsuit avatars, like the FT86 promo...Then they would need several skin tones\body types\sexes.:sly:

@SHANTJ any DLC is ridiculously priced...

1000 cars 20 tracks 60 beans.

average FM3 dlc is like 12 cars 6 bucks, in theory you should get 100 cars for that much... ratio is totally askew.

That's a mighty bold guess considering following the link confirms it's just a report on the release party.

Not exactly...

Read the first part of the post:
Sony EU's twitter account just tweeted that they have some big announcements to make next week regarding Gran Turismo 5 and will get you really excited

An announcement is something that has not been disclosed yet. We already know the release date and everything else thus far, so it is "new" news that they will announce.

Kaz and Co. constantly visit this forum to see what we say about GT5 and when the game launches, they WILL announce new info, not only to silence storm regarding the negative aspects of the game i.e. 800 standard cars, No Wheel Changes for Standard Cars, etc.., but also to excite GT5 users and assure us that GT5 will constantly be updated with new and exciting content.

If there is no such announcement, I will personally film myself jumping off of a 30 foot dam into a canal while singing a Justin Bieber song.

Rubs hands together expectingly.... :dopey:
But seriously, I think he will announce something big on release day - I just don't have a clue want. Heres for hoping he releases all 800 standard car interiors and says "Surprise.."

I get the feeling you may be doing that. Look at it this way, you can totally ignore the wording used in that post, it's not an official website and it's just the way they chose to phrase the Twitter comment. Now looking at the Twitter post reveals nothing about an announcement at all, but claims we'll be getting some exciting posts, and then confirms that it's just relaying what has been written over at PlayStation.Blog.Europe, which also make no mention of any announcements, but tells us they'll be covering the launch event and it'll be awesome.

This is basically Chinese Whispers. Someone repeats a website post, changes the wording and everyone gets the wrong idea.

Just trying to pass the time until the 24th with a little humor lol. I listed new driver suits as "highly unlikely"...did you see that part?

Even though Kaz did say at one point no DLC....he also said many other things that didn't hold water....umm.."THE GAME WILL BE OUT NOV. 2ND." lol.

To think that there won't be DLC associated with the biggest PS3 game of all time is ludicrous. It's a no brainer.

I am just being optimistic from the link given...would you rather I be negative and start complaining about Premium Vs. Standard, No Hood View, No Reverse Lights on Standard cars, Screen Clipping, Pixelated Wipers, No Damage till lvl. 20, like most of the posts lately?

Just being optimistic dudes....just being optimistic. :sly::sly:

Hmm..only time will tell. BTW my jumping off the dam singing a Justin Bieber song has been delayed from 11-24-10 to 11-24-22, but don;'t worry it will be a premium jump...not standard.
