From what i've read its available only in the replays but on all cars. What doesn't make sense is if its there for the replays why would you not have it during gameplay? Just to be annoying?! ;)

In the vid you can see it is definitely not in the replay view.. first half hood view, then replay. This might be a good sign.

So it is a hood view then. Is that confirmed anywhere else or ...?? what do you mean just a few? just a few cars have a hood view? That makes no sense, but it seems that might be the case.

I know, it makes no sense xD. Yeah I mean hood cam during gameplay, not replay. To my knowledge, the other cars that have hood cam are in the Prologue: Subaru STi Sedan and the Jaguar.
 
Jaggy shadows don't seem much different to GT5P from the small amount of GT5 I've seen.

Shadows are the most taxing thing to render properly. Fiddle with the settings of shadows in your PC games to see what I mean, it can halve your framerate. Do you want 30fps and nicer shadows, or 60fps and jagged ones?

Me I prefer 60 fps
 
Yeah jaggy shadows is a PS3 limitation with all that's going on with GT5 I bet. If they were smooth it would probably eat the framerate, or make the wholr game studder because not enough ram. I bet GT6 on the PS4 will be amazing. Like the renders look now. Crazt antialiasing and model complexity with insane effects. Oh well, if we do not all die on Dec. 21, 2012 that is. We may all be dead and no GT6.

If you read the past few pages, hopefully you'd comprehend why I'm posting GT5P pictures.

Even without reading the pages, I would've thought it should be obvious I'm posting GT5P pics for comparison to the latest game, GT5. Obviously not.

I know, I thought you were comparing the first picture (Which I thought was GT5) to the second one (Prologue). Since I thought the first one was from GT5 until I looked a little harder 💡, just wondering if you thought it was as well.
 
shadows will always be a problem for the PS3 sadly. Apparently they are just really hard to get right. Hence 360 games look better usually in cross platform games.

Yeah I am wondering if somehow the shadows are messed up by being youtube encoded because the super low resolution of them flying all over the cockpit is... notable...

Also unfortunately noteable is that the side rail shadows did pop in and out a few times even in front of the car confirming what was brought up in the other thread... I think much less noteable when you are actually driving but I do tend to notice stuff in my periphery a lot even when concentrating center screen (result of a lot of years playing FPS and learning to see the whole screen at once).

BTW am I the only one OCD enough to want the driver to reach over and rotate the vent covers so they were neatly lined up? ;)

If someone could please post a pick of the '98 Mini, the '74 Spitfire and the MG TF I'd be really grateful. I know they're all standard cars and not the Ferrari or Lambo exotica so many love, but I'd really appreciate it.

what the hell? a point to point is a sector of a circuit, that looks like an highway, and last like 50 sec.. that sucks.👎👎👎
 
Hood view - To me it's the view of choice for perspective... I have a cockpit that relatively speaking has me in the proper driving position when I'm in hood view...

As much as I like interior for the details it makes me feel like I'm actually driving from the back seat... This is harder for me to lead into the turns vs having the camera on the cars front axles...

And can't help being totally distracted by the shadows... I mean they aren't just low res, they are massively saw toothed and the simple face is they are going to be all over the cockpit as you drive right in your face all the time...

And this isn't some trivial rough edge stuff... I mean look at these:

Those teeth are massive and that steering wheel... it's not only rough, it's an octogon...

I mean every time he makes a turn I find my view being drawn from the cars and the track to this weird, jumpy, twichy shadow all over the cockpit...

What happened? They were much better in GT5P

I have to agree, first time I saw that I couldn't quite believe what I was seeing !

But, this is the only video I've seen this on, perhaps it's just this car, maybe they forgot to do something with the actually car model, like finish it off properly, but like I said, haven't seen it on any other footage, so not that worried about it.

The shadows turn jaggy when the sun is low in the sky, shadows won't look like that when your racing midday. Also, that's why Prologue and Forza 3 didn't have jaggy shadows as much because those games have fixed times of the day when you race.

I'm afraid GT5 really does look like an unfinished product in many places.

* 200+ premium cars.
* 800+ standards (with many low-resolution textures). I'd prefer to see a plain coloured car with decals removed.
* Many expected tracks are missing and shadows are so jagged in the interior view (as you've shown) that they may as well not have bothered with the interior view (while racing) at all.
* Parts problems with standard cars.
* Shadows and textures popping in quite horribly in places.
* Dirt / spray / snow / smoke creates jaggies.

Giving up 1080p for 720p would've helped VRAM usage and texture quality (including those jagged shadow textures). Perhaps GT6 will be 720p rather than 1080p.

So you wanted them to release maybe only 200+ premium cars and forget the 800 others???:crazy: Or did you want to delay for another 1-2 years so they can upgrade maybe a few hundred of the standard cars? and tweak so more till the PS4 came out? I for one can live very easily with what I've seen so far and let's be honest, it will look far better on your 1080p flatscreen than anything shown on the internet. Since you can tweak your TV colors, contrast, sharpness, etc... to suite your taste!

This game has taken video game racing to another level and I'm happy it is out as is right now (or for the majority of us, next Wednesday)! 👍

thanks for saying that i couldn't be bothered, i just wanted to see some pics of the game, instead i had to sift through pages of "i see a jagged line" Blah blah.
 
The bad thing is everyone is expecting patches. Like they owe it to us to fix the problems they knowingly shipped the game with. Everything is the way they wanted it to be out the door. If they really wanted to hold it in and revamp the game, we would have got another delay. They don't care how long they delay the game.

I however hope there is an update though. Above all things I honestly hope they allow wheels on standard cars.
