I beg to differ about it looking ugly in GT4 I still have a photomode pic and it looks fine on GT4
As you can see here

I'm thinking those pics are sub-hd resolution. They just look to grainy and gt4 ish. If any of you have played GT5P on sub-hd you will know how much worse it looks, and the detail in the environments is also missing.

I suggest waiting to see it with your own eyes, we are seeing WAY too much inconsistency at the moment

infact on the contrary, have you seen GT4 in 1080i? It looks exactly the same as that car, not just the cars, the tracks looks jugged and squared like a PS1 game. I suppose if you just use 480i, or standard TV for GT5 those GT4 cars would look much better.

Let's say i create a a product, and the ONLY information i release about it, is the name: "Product X" and the pricetag: $80. What it is, what it does etc. are unknown....

Will you go to the shop and spontaneously buy it?? You wouldn't, would you? Because you know nothing about it.

You've never made an impulse buy? What kind of life is that?

I would buy that.

The thing that's hard to watch about the video is how little knowledge that the commentators have with the GT series. It would appear that they spend little time with driving games. One of the commentators stated the game was coming out Friday.:ouch:

yeah i kept telling them earlier that it was coming out tmrw :grumpy:

I think graphically GT5 is very ambitious and to me it gets points for that. Other titles try to have style or are rather conservative. I am sure you can imagine which is which without naming names. GT5 seems to try very hard to push the envelope but fails in certain areas as a result of its pursuit. Still besides Dirt 3 and NFS Shift you cannot honestly another game looks better.

Another near-page's worth of comments have been deleted. Do people need a daily reminder?

Do not turn threads into Forza/GT debates. Follow the title of the thread.

AAA not sleep all night! finally completed, the expectation is no limit, and with the slogan "WE LOVE CARS, WE LOVE SCREENSHOTS" :)
Made this fan trailer for launch! Why then the installation of any video! Just because of my animated screenshots (feel the power 3D) that exactly 24! enjoy :sly:

WATCH TO THE END !

I think SHIFT looks decent to pretty good if you've got the PC version and installed mods to remove some of the small/short DOF effects and the blurring (and the amusement park installation on all tracks). But for most part, it still has the same gfx style you'll find in almost all games. The same goes for Dirt 2 (I don't think we're at 3 yet). Still a bit cartoonish and overstylized. But if you look at what most people tend to prefer in photography (especially when it comes to cars) then you'll see why developers have adopted the style.

The prototypical style of car photography:

The somewhat banal but realistic photo from Stephen Shore:

Because I prefer life's sweet banality (when it comes to photography) and love Stephen Shore's work, without the slightest doubt prefer PD's approach to GT5's graphics. Even with the blemishes, it manages to fill the gap between the excess simplicity of iRacing and nKar's graphics and the snazziness of console racers.

Made a couple of videos last night if anyone wants to watch them, click my setup and then my youtube channel, can't embed them on my phone.

I was in two minds about GT5 laat night, until I bought that car and took it to that track, amazing!
