I don't think the Stig is out of the game remember there not going to show his face so they can say that the Stig is anyone even if Ben Collins can't say no because he is out of the job and since The Stig belongs to the BBC and Polyphony has the copyrights from the BBC so Stig is still in the game.

Not to mention that Clarkson has already hinted at a new Stig being in the upcoming series. Plus there's that footage of them going to find a new one at the Stig breeding ranch.

As for that sellout Ben, the very essence of The Stig is the anonymity, the instant you remove that helmet you're no longer a Stig by definition!

God, I can't wait for this game to come out. Not only so I can have the game, but also so that GT Planet gets back to normal. :indiff:

That way I can say "bye" to all of the "hired temps" this place seems to have.

Umm... Would all three of those be the same thing? I mean, who changes the retail version from the review copy? It's safe to say it's the most updated build. Maybe we'll see patches/updates in the future (I'm only guessing.) Either way, I think it's safe to say our product will pretty much be same one he has.

I am just curcious to know how did he get the game.

and also this:

About the damage in the leaked copies....

I do not know what the panic .. Apparently this is a version for review, which is now also received a buddy .. Apparently this is a version for review, Which Is Now ook received and buddy .. In the package got a letter about where Polphony Digital breaks down. In the package got a letter about WHERE Polphony Digital breaks down. This version of the game is almost like the original, but it is still fine-tuning for maximum graphic detail, it is not a full crash model, and overall it's more about what the game can předvdení than it looks. So maybe so. So maybe Sat Oh by the way, how much you put in it? Oh by the way, how much you put in it? Pay for 1500 Kind of crap .. Pay for 1500 Kind of crap .. Sorry guys Sorry guys

I highly doubt there'll be much difference between the review copy and the retail copy. Maybe a bit of damage. Maybe a patch update down the road. To be honest, I doubt there will be much difference. What we see is pretty much what we get (in terms of options, physics, etc.) Damage, maybe they are fine tuning it. It might just be a slight upgrade. Who really knows.

I still can't make any sense of that Czech post. Since the game was discovered after it was reported shipped it sounds like another case of wishful thinking. What's that about a letter? Sounds like someone watched that old fake video of GT5 unwrapping?

The only thing that confuses me is that EVO Magazine (car mag) got to try it, and they said it had realistic crash damage. I'm sure they know what realistic crash damage is, and are a non gaming magazine. And Top Gear mag article said when they crashed there were pieces of the car on the track.

So who knows....

Truth is no one really knows what the physics and damage level are set to in Arcade/quick race gameplay.

I'm hoping they both are set totally to the lowest values cause the videos shown provide very poor 'real driving simulator' realism.

They better be configurable some where some how cause GT5 would be very lame if you are only allowed arcade type racing when you want to do a quick sim style race.

in less than 2 weeks, we will find out if they were full of crap

haha

C.D
Driving != Bumpercars riding walls as if they were made of invincibilitium.

Has anybody here ever actually driven a real car? What kind of "driving" is it if going beyond the limits doesn't bear any consequence?

Being able to tell the limits of the car you're driving and getting as close as possible to them without ever going past the threshold is what tells good drivers apart.

tl;dr: No damage = no racing.

I completely agree with you... there is no question that GT5 looks absolutely beautiful... but i just have this really horrible feeling in the middle of my gut...

* Is this really the complete game (that tekken is showing)?
* Why do the cars seem like they are inflatable balls that bounce off walls/each other... (the snow roll over is horrible)
* Where is this so called damage (a nascar has a massive head-on and only shows a sligh deformation??? and the AI car takes 1 second to recover???)
* There appears to be no sounds when riding against a wall or on the snow track in general when hitting walls/other cars... it just seems like it's half baked...
* The AI are exactly the same as GT4 they drive like robots... perfect line every time... horribly slow around the bends/under brakes but speed up on the straights... that does not = jostling for the win

i apologise up front for sounding like a whining a$$ but seriously with all the dev time all the areas that were meant to be completely overhauled seem at this stage to not have been changed at all... yes it looks stunning there is no question about that.... but am i the only one with this horrible feeling??

Also in every GT game there has always been a mode where you can do a 1 off race, set the AI level, laps, tune the car, set the tyres or just do free runs.

If this is the final game, there doesn't appear to be anything like that....
Makes it so confusing.

Hello! i'm here to talk to you all today about cognitive dissonance, more specifically the belief disconfirmation paradigm. At this point it's even well beyond confirmation bias. When faced with contrary facts, you don't even search for alternate facts, you make them up on the spot. We need to get a few things strait here, and then we can move on with an intelligent discussion of the facts at hand.

1. Tekken90 is posting videos from a full retail copy of the game. It is not a review copy. It is absolutely the final game. If it was a review copy, for the game to be sold worldwide at the capacity it will sell, disk manufacturing would have to commenced no later than November 1. Reviewers don't have their copies yet, there would be absolutely no reason for them to get anything else but final game code.

2. There is no more physics option because there are no longer 2 physics settings. They have been combined into 1. They are the same in arcade and career mode, tekken90(the only guy here with the game) has confirmed this.

3. Arcade mode is not a magically dumbed down portion of the game. They physics are the same as career mode, the damage is the same as career mode, the graphics are the same as career mode, there are the same number of cars on track as career mode. Career mode is the "pick and play" portion of the game, nothing more. It allows you to chose the car, it allows you to choose the track. It is not a separate arcade racing game using the same assets.

4. The damage is limited. Greater damage will not be unlocked. They would not lock away central game features. The damage shown in earlier videos is not in this game. It cannot be "turned on". It is not different in arcade mode. What you see is what you get. The game isn't about crashing, crashing happens, and damage will be shown, but it is not the focus of the game.

5. Not everybody who cites issue with the game is a fanboy out to attack it. If the game is good, it will stand on it's own merit, it does not need 50 defenders to attack anybody without a completely positive opinion of every aspect of the game. It is perfectly acceptable for someone who enjoys gran turismo and is planning on buying the game to cite fault with issues. It is quite probably at this point that polyphony over-promised and under-delivered, but this is completely understandable and somewhat expected considering what was promised. They promised mars but delivered the moon while others promise the moon and don't deliver.

6. There are flaws with the game. Making mountains out of molehills will not make those flaws game-breaking. In the same sense, attacking people who are dissapointed by molehills that affect them won't make said flaws dissapear.

There's arcade mode for that. You quit out of the home menu and it's there. Set difficulty, track, laps, tyres, fuel/tyre depletion etc. You can probably tune cars you own from there but I don't know. Time Trial and Drift modes are available from there too.

Nope nothing like past GT games, can't even tune the car

^I doubt that PD did 10 steps back in terms of damage.

That's the thing though. What tekken or whatever his name is showed in his NASCAR video was like scaled back considerably from that Best Buy demo. he got head-on crushed by a car and his vehicle barely looked any different.

Since his is the retail version, we all suspect that PD decided to scale back their damage model for release.

I love the new Chamonix, though. No more crappy tarmac session. All snow, all the time!

Whaaat? I think they butchered Chamonix...no more drastic elevation changes, tight flowing hairpins, the tarmac section was the tricky part, early braking, throttle control, then unleash up the hill after the tunnel, through the narrow forest...She will be missed...

This is more of an Autocross ring rather than anything rally related, thankfully Alaska Theme course maker can save the day for the white stuff!!

Are you serious why would they do that?

I have a feeling EVO only got a demo copy, and so it have a better damage model similar to the best buy demo, and in the retail copy pd toned it down.

There's damage, just hard to see. After he rolls over, you can notice there is a bit of damage to his rear fender. It's hard to see due to the snow being kicked up.

That's not a positive observation.... it would be better to say damage is off during his race.... after a roll over u shouldnt need to squint yr eyes to notice if there is damage ;-)
