GT5 could make that car look 20 times better. Looks primitive in Ferrari Challenge, but the rain was done well. And yes, that top is definitely up.

SCC has horrible graphics. GT5:P looks 100's of times better. I like SCC but it gives me a headache for some reason...

That'll be the dodgy gear shift sounds, like the clutch is made of rubber, most annoying sound in the whole world, and the main reason I don't play it, for a sound you hear more than any other in a game you'd think they would have gotten it right this time, since FC, oh well.

Did I miss the mention of a livery editor in the vids on post#165?
People keep mentioning 'that pretty much confirms a livery editor' but didn't hear it :guilty:

I brought post 165 up many times since I saw it. It's worth a look. I'm telling you....TGS might be bigger than we think..:sly:

It's also interesting that they only planned for 770 to appear in GT5. They bumped it to 1,000 so it seems PD is going all out. I doubt the livery editor was removed since the car count went up. More cars, more fun, more editing? We shall see.

It was listed as a feature (first video on one of the projected slides) they planned for GTHD back in 2006, it shows they're thinking of it but doesn't confirm anything for GT5.

TGS 2006

Online Features

-Online Garage (Certainly.)
-Head to head racing (Duh!)
-Time Trail (Another duh....)
-Track Day (Sounds fun.)
-B-Spec Race (Some will enjoy that)
-License Test Hopefully this stays. Racers need to earn their way up)
-Drift Contest (This would be very popular. Everywhere.)
-Tuning/Settings Features (Really?!:P)
-Friend List (Very nice!)
-Lobby (Logical. Simple. Good.)
-Voice Chat (Epic.)
-Bulletin Board (Could be used to show top times/racers, winning streaks, etc)
-Spectator Mode? (Hard to see from the video, but it looks like spectator mode. Stalker mode.)
-Team Builder (Important feature. This will be awesome.)
-Club Builder (Seems like an extension of the team. More racers can join?)
-Coloring/Livery Editor (Would be a great addition. This would please many.)
-Number Plate Editor (Neat. I'd like this a lot.)
-Race Builder Tool (Last word is hard to read. Could be interesting!)
-Photo Album (Say cheese!)

2 weeks away from possibly having these features confirmed/denied. :)

Does anyone know if the TGS will be televised, if so what channel?

The major advancement i guess most people had thought of ( including me ), is the implementation of 3d with PS Eye & maybe live weather effects together.I reckon a lot of things and maybe this could be what they are talking about.

Which car game on a console had live weather environments ?.PGR4 had weather so was that live ?.People mentioned about it before with the weather thing in GT5P.

don't you dare suggest a 2010 release window or I'll get MAAAAD, MAAAD I tell you!

It's been a long time since I played that game but IIRC each track had between 4 and 12 ( rough estimation ) of choices for time of day and weather patterns. Also when the rain came the puddles on the track would "fill up" lap after lap.

If GT 5 had weather anything like PGR 4 it would be FANTASTIC. Best example of weather in a racing game EVER. Although that is an Arcade racer, not sure what the best example of weather would be on a SIM.

I agree. But what is? I personally think if its not something this is a GT5 exclusive, its not really fair to call it a MAJOR advancement.

A major advancement, for many of us fans, is something not seen in a Gran Turismo game. A livery editor would be high on that list, dynamic weather, damage, etc.

What did you have in mind?

Don't forget the Santa Claus hint we've gotten from the site superlatives. :)
Though I don't rule out anything.

I think, in context, he means 'major advancement' in terms of the content of the Game Show demonstration.

IE: Telling us a lot about the game, with a release date is a 'major advancement' over showing a trailer, saying nothing and having a very limited demo... and saying nothing...

Hopefully that 'major advancement' is them saying something.

E3 showed the trailer, next was a playable demo in Cologne. A next major advancement must be no less than a playable full version (or so I do hope vehemently). :)

I was going to type something like this, but I didn't. I'm glad someone else brought it up. E3 2009 was pathetic. You must admit that. GamesCom, for me, came out of no where and provided us with some incredible information. I expect TGS 2009 to be bigger than that for obvious reasons. It's held in Japan, it's the last major gaming event, and it's just the right time to mentally prepare the consumers. You cannot just heap GT5 on fans. We need time to digest the greatness.

It would fit in, time wise. Pretty much everyone is expecting an early December release. Take in to account: CD production (ooh, millions upon millions of CD's being burnt with the master, yummy! 👍), distribution, blah, blah, blah, and it's roughly an 8-week process for a game of this size between the master build and it's public release date.

I wouldn't be overly surprised if at the TGS we got a playable demo and a release date, the timing is there. Or, a release date of the game and a release date of the demo. After all the demo will take about a week or two to get through Sony's QA testing to be allowed to be put up onto PSN, demo discs in magazines, etc.

I don't think anyone will be disappointed by the news at TGS, GT5 is on the horizon and the master build will be very near to completion. You feel that rumble? Nope, it's not an earthquake, it's GT5 and it's coming fast. :)

How long does it take for a finished game to hit the shelves.. If it's 8 weeks like the above poster said, then they have to finish the game by the end of this month.

If the game is on schedule for an early december release then it's probably at the stage where they're doing nothing but translations and bug testing and possibly throwing the odd new car finished in time for the game to go gold in there. That's if it's on schedule for early December, the game hasn't gone gold yet though so it's highly unlikely to be sooner than December like some members have said recently.
