Forza 3 is getting a demo in a week or so, doesn't seem too unlikely that a demo has at least been considered as a lot has changed since Prologue's last update.

On that note, maybe they can do one final update of Prologue to bring it up to speed of the build that's been floating around. Updated physics and throw in the STI rally car, some damage, and maybe Tokyo R246. Don't think that's asking too much.

That's a nice idea, I'd like to see some more content thrown in to take the edge of waiting. Maybe a tiny new track?

And why is WRC2008 so often called "STi", even tough it's not based even on the WRX model (no air scoop on the hood), just plain Impreza? It's the N4 version that is WRX STi (soon probably WRX STi Spec. C) based...

At this point anything would be welcome ;)

My apologies for the confusion. I haven't really looked into the car all that much, saw the shape (Thought I saw bulging fenders) and assumed it to be STi based.

Well it may not have the top scoop but it still does have the top mount intercooler in the same place, if you look very closely you can see the inlet horizontally wide hole in the grill, the grill has been attached to the bonnet (hood) permanently (normally fixed to the body) and a air duct has been made on the underside of the bonnet (hood) leading to the intercooler. You can see this all well in the damage video where the bonnet (hood) lifts open. I thought it was a little odd but checked out the real version and it's the same. No road version as I know is setup like that.

What does GT5 need a livery editor for?
True, why do race cars have liveries? Why not have every car be just white or black?

Or maybe it's because many of us want to see Race Mod return, and race cars have liveries.

Or maybe it's because if you're going to have online team and league builder features, we'd like custom liveries just like real life racing teams do.

Just a thought.

Hmm, it's really hard to come across a reliable source specifying the car's base model (and I'm not feeling like going through the Appendix J right know to make sure if such modifications are allowed by FIA). However I still think it's incorrect to call it an STi at any point, since it's a WRC, after all :) (and there is no STi in "Subaru Impreza WRC2008" :D).
But we should get back on the topic ; ).

im all for a 'livery editor' as long as its extremely strict, or they don't allow creations to be used online.

the cars in GT are so beautifully detailed and lifelike, the last thing i want is to see some gorgeous Aston DB9 ruined because some dork wanted to paint Cartman giving Butters a 'happy ending'.

i mean, have you seen the trash people "design" in forza 2? game takes forever to load when online and for what?... some idiots MS paint swirley lines and ****?

To what ends people use it for its their business. I wouldn't like to miss out on having a livery editor just because there are a few people out there that do like to put rather nice looking ladies wearing not very much on their cars.

If its possible for me to put Batman on my car having a punch up with Goofy, then damn it, I'm putting all my effort into it.

go for it, they should just prevent the use of any custom paint schemes online.

GT has never been about that nonsense, it's always been about the beauty of the cars, racing and car culture.

remember when Kaz stated that other racing games seem to be "going for a different experience"... this i believe is what he was talking about. wild livery creations, ridiculous mods, incredibly over the top damage and cars flipping, aren't where he wants GT to go.

anyway, weather, day/night transitions or a track editor are all more important to GT and is probably the "Major Advancement" he's eluding to.

I just can't wait to see those pink F40s...

But really - if you had to find a compromise between full customization, similar to the one seen in FM2, and the "clean beauty" of the GT games - there is always a solution used by CM in GRiD. Simple, yet quite effective.

A couple of points on that:

1. I've never seen anyone drive a pornmobile in a race online. Or met anyone who has. The Auction House, yes, but those are easy to avoid.

2. FM2 has an online filter, which among other things kills liveries, so you never have to see any liveries at all.

You have to be kidding me.

So what are team makers supposed to do, decide whether to drive the Midnite Purple Skyline or the Navy Blue one? Or really be different and buy them in pink?

And don't even bring up "GT has never been about." It's never been about drifting either. I don't like it personally. Should I go on a rant about it, because drifting has nothing to do with racing?

And those "ridiculous mods," I suppose you've forgotten the 1500hp Escudo, or whatever it was.

Look, just filter out everything you hate about real life, or stay offline entirely if you're so paranoid you might see a pink and green race car motif, and let the rest of us enjoy ourselves with all the aspects of real life motorsports. Gee whiz...

I wouldn't mind a tasteful livery editor, for sponsorship purposes ( Sparco, AGIP, Dunlop, AP Racing, Motad decals etc ) etc. Also for applying race numbers etc.

looks like you wont be enjoying yourself then, because im extremely confident "the man" wont allow people like yourself to diminish the GT brand with your trash.

have fun with "barney and friends" themed cars on your own time.

I think having templates of livery's based off of real world sponsorship, with racing number & the ability the edit would be the way to go. Keeping it focused on racing, but allowing online teams cars to be differentiated would be one of the reasons. Personally don't like spending to much time making a livery, something I could grab and go would be fine. :)

What the 🤬? :odd:

People are going to design whatever they want, whether it be perverted or otherwise...limiting the customization in one place and not the other is extremely unnecessary and devoid of any logic.

In any case, TD, unless you're referring to GT4's use of the Escudo it was more like 1880-something hp.

even better then, don't allow that garbage anywhere.

just stripes, numbers, and sponsors.

He probably just hates race cars, or maybe one kicked his puppy.

EGADS! I knew it was a lot, but... wow.

To those that are not in favor of a livery editor; Ignore it! (lol?)

The same goes for online. If you don't like online racing, don't race online.

Maggot666PL said it best. The PD staff is clever enough to make the livery editor classy and not like NFS or other titles. You can have racing stripes, checkered flags, sponsors, letters, numbers, etc. I don't look forward to racing 20 other lime green Lamborghini Murciélagos, despite their exotic beauty.

GT has room to mature. Here is a fine example of it.

Darn, maybe after this post that pic will appear. I'm not seeing it yet.

Anyway to further the thread subject, I think a combo of many or all these elements are coming, and count as a major advancement in GT5:
  • Season Mode, in addition to Arcade and GT Modes, which let's you select a league such as NASCAR, WRC, DTM, ALMS etc, and race following a calendar schedule for championship points. Season can be left at any time for Arcade or GT Mode, and rejoined later.
  • Career Mode, in addition to the three above modes, which begins you with enough credits for a sports car to enter in something like the U.S.'s Sports Car Club of America. Like Season Mode, you follow a calendar, racing for points to advance in a ladder through the enthusiast season, the semi-pro season, up to where you advance into a pro league of your choice.
  • Race Mod and livery painting for most cars, and livery painting of pro race cars.
  • Weather, and day and night for every track. May be variable in real time, might not.
  • Comprehensive online race event tools, to create race events according to a range of user selected specifications, such as PP limits; HP limits; sport, tuner or pro race car types; day/night/weather; track list; etc.
  • Online team and league builder tools.
  • Online car-bay auction/sales shop, where anything can be bought, sold or traded. Money, cars, liveries, replays, photos, anything can be traded or gifted.

I'm curious, why don't you like liveries?

Or, is it just custom liveries you're against?

why...

^Oh come on guys you can't have a livery editor be serious all the time. I would want a car in GT5 with the South Park crew on the side of it. It'll be a fun hobby for some.

lol, my friend has forza2 with some cars in his garage just like this. He truly sees it as one more reason forza is better than GT. I just roll my eyes and laugh.

^Well I'd say it's one thing that Forza's got over GT. And that's about it. We should have a livery editor, but have it deep and not just stripes and numbers.

I swear, before next weekend, I'll post some of my creations from FM2. I'm not about to let those South Park liveries show up my South Park liveries!

I think it should have the manufacturer livery for each car, especially for the road/rally type cars.Imagine a blue version 2 Subaru Impreza STI 555 with all the factory yellow decals on the bodywork, or the road going Castrol coloured Toyota Celica GT4.I know they already came with these liveries, maybe some would like to remove these.
