Are we sure Forza 3 demo is for gold members only? I read it that because the game has gone gold the demo will hit on the 24th, not that the demo hts for gold members...
Gold members get the demo earlier (Sept 24th), that's it.

Some of those personal liveries were both offensive, tasteless, ugly, or pornographic. Terrible thing to put on the cars in GT. I think a basic editor that lets you change colors, and racing schemes to meet basic needs and personalize the car are ok, but a full out paint room like Forza would make this game just as horrible as Forza with the offensive and ugly cars.

1. Yes, I want it! This would be awesome!
2. Sure, as long as it's tasteful and classy.
3. No. Never. What a horrible idea!

Well, sadly i am still no. 3 because i still suffer from this trauma.. I was on my way home from cinema with my girlfriend. We came to the parking lot and right next to my car was parking...this is hard.. a silver Z4 with red flame stickers on both it´s sides :dopey:

Great post,Tenacious D.👍

It seems that GTplanet users are divided into 3 simple categories in regard to having a livery editor in Gran Turismo 5:

1. Yes, I want it! This would be awesome!
2. Sure, as long as it's tasteful and classy.
3. No. Never. What a horrible idea!

Definitely no.3 for me.
GT is about simulating real driving. Maybe it's me but I don't see regular road cars with ugly paint jobs every day...
People who like to **** up their cars can better play NFS Underground imo!
Don't get me wrong, I respect other peoples opinion, but this is mine.

What about the option to not show custom liveries, just like in LFS? Then everyone could be satisfied.

And "but they're still hurting they (Virtua*) cars" argument is NOT an argument.

*CGRHD FTW!

Agreed 👍

p.s. I am offended by that McLaren F1.

As long as I can buy a Supra and make it look like a Tom's Castrol with 1/8th the money ingame, I'm definitely for a livery editor.

I can hear the complaints online now. I enter a medium tuned sports car race with my faux Tom's and everyone starts yelling at me calling me a hacker.....then I lose.

why make a look like , when you can buy a real one... two races more and you have the money:tup:

I sure hope money wouldn't be that easy to come by, especially towards the start of the game when you may buy a Supra (road not race) to further your career.

I hope they show the livery editor at TGS if they do in fact have one in the game. My head is bursting with ideas right now and I cannot wait to show you guys my GTP livery ;-)

Do you see cars racing with liveries or not? What do you spend a lot of time doing in GT? If GT had a livery editor would it mean you had to use it just by virtue of it being there? Would you automatically be messing up your car if you created a custom livery for it? And does that mean that every racing car is mesed up because its not painted to factory production spec?

I'd be surprised if GT 5 doesn't have a livery editor. The only question in my mind is how extensive it will be. GRID has a livery editor but it's nothing compared to Forza's.

This surely has been mentioned, but... what if there's an option to "eliminate" liveries completely (yours and other players)? That is, you don't see them in other cars, but it doesn't mean they are not there. You could also be able to see only your own livery, but not others. Everyone would be happy, or so I want to think.

Hurry up 24th
We need one of these.

When I think livery editors, Forza not what comes to mind. These pictures below are for cars in GTR2, GTR evolution.
There is people out there that just spend there time doing 'Car Skinning' This kind of thing keeps the game current.
PD will more than likely have some to few of the cars from each from each class of racing LMS, JGTC etc.,
but a livery editor could expand this and also allow the cars to be up to date with the times.

This is assuming that the livery editor has a lot of capabilities and is not just a simple one. Also to make this work,
need to have the ability to trade cars online.

What we don't know yet, in the final version of GT5, will we have the ability to race production cars in race car events, since
they will not receive damage.

I've watched some NFS:Shift videos on YT and I finally became more fond of the livery editor, for all the wrong reasons. Namely: most/many of my cars, especially the "racier ones" will be kept "naked", no livery, no nothing. Just plain, yellow/red/whateverish, to mock those "vinyl adds horsepower" Cobalts etc. ;P.

Of course I'm not against racing liveries, but with all the buzz it's funny to see how a clean car stands out on the grid. That's why my RX-8 in NFS:U2 was kept purely red throughout the whole game, back in the day :D.

Off topic, but I've seen 3 of those things in the past month driving around, coming from 18 years of never seeing one.

There's a company in Texas that still produces brand new ones. They sell for over $60k though.:scared:

Wow, those are really nice.

It's weird how 10Tacle or whoever is doing these GTR games now seem to not want to mess with any good looking race cars. Gran Turismo always has a wealth of eye catching liveries, but these sims are just... boring, for whatever reason.

But even with the number of race cars in GT games, there are only so many they can do. I want to be able to add cars they didn't touch to my garage. And I want to be able to add my own race cars to my garage, with my own name on the top and hopefully windows, just like any real life race car driver with his own name and number.

I might have to fire up FM2 this week, alba, and see if I can come up with an idea as cool as yours. 👍

Classy and tasteful.

This would fall under option 2 of my categories.
This one is my favorite of the bunch because it's simple yet effective. You don't need to over-kill your car with cartoon characters as this car is beautiful the way it is. I wouldn't even call this car creative because it looks as if this person won that car from the game. However, that doesn't mean people shouldn't be able to show their creative sides. That's why if there's a livery editor, I imagine it leaving the potential to be more creative than less creative. If the livery editor has the use of miscellaneous shapes, then we will see loony rides. Whether you like it or not, or whether or not the liveries can be turned off, people will make rides like the Spiderman McLaren.

Man, if we can somehow set up our own GTP Auction House or something of the sort....I'm so in.

I'd fire up Forza but the encore of the Italian GP is about to come on and I didn't get a chance to see it earlier. :indiff:
