the road look wet to me...

But I think it's better to wait for Monday for weather confirmation ...
It's not wet. Zoom-in: the image on the screen is full of squares with different brightness (I think that's the techique they're using to make it look cloudy).

Maybe a better shot of this...

Um... am I missing something? Why are we waiting for monday?

Also, could anyone identify this track? It might just be Fuji but I can't tell.

I don't think there will be weather changes in GT5. It's not on the list, and it would cost too much space on the disc as there has to change so much when it rains, or becomes night.

Look closely there...Gran Turismo 3 C-Spec?-with Nordschleife?:odd:

I know C-spec is weird, but that's what I read there, besides I still remember of GT3 pics prior to the release which showed: GT3 B-spec.

I disagree. Something as simple as day-to-night would not take up disc space, it would just be coding the game in a way that lighting conditions change throughout the race, that's all.

Really weather/lighting is not something that takes up disc space at all, it would be negligable. The problem is finding the spare power in the PS3 to implement those features, which would be difficult when they're already cranking out 1080p 60fps 16 cars on track and such detailed physics, they might not have the spare horsepower to implement weather on top of all that.

To be honest, in my personal opinion, I'd much rather they dropped the game down from 1080p to being 720p, it would free up so much processing power they could probably have an extra 6 cars on the track. They could probably add in weather without any framerate loss too.

It's the main straight of Highspeed Ring, but with what appears to be some new additions to the scenery - an Indianapolis Motor Speedway-style scoring tower and some lights (pointed out by Solidsnakex at NeoGAF).

No wonder it's not ready yet.
They're having far too much fun at work :)

that pretty much confirms rain for me, or atleast that they are actively testing it at this stage in development.

those blocks will eventually be replaced with the actual rain graphics.

holy crap though, i was hoping they would do it, but i didnt think the ps3 had any more in it. looks like i was wrong.

Wow, you seriously think disc space is any issue whatsoever? It's Blu-Ray. Don't worry about space.

I had the same thoughts. I too think that those squares are "rain drops" in development.

Those bands are actually an inperfection in the LCD display on the TV. It is very common on cheap TV's. I bought a TV that had them once but took it back. Sorry but no rain.

I wouldn't take that screenshot as confirmation of rain, but at the same time I think it's safe to assume that what we are seeing is very cloudy/dull weather? We might not get rain in the game, but maybe really dark grey cloudy skys and wet tracks? It's been so long since I played a GT game but I think I recall the night courses having wet roads?

what a massive detailed and thorough photo tour 1 whole photo LOL what douchebag retards.
when will game magazine companies learn they need to send people in their organization that are passionate about the games or the publishers studios that they are visiting, so that they get good reports, and great photos. instead the idiots doing polyphony for G4 or who ever really dont care. this mob obviously dont care, 1 massive photo and a half arsed report on a 2 minute demo they played, instead Kaz is on other side of the room talking about the future, talking about the games etv, hopefully some other companies got better exclusives the the G4 douchetards

^^ thats not a cheap LCD though, thats an Bravia XBR2.

plus, it has to be weather...

even ive noticed, ever since i started watching Top Gear, its like god damn! its raining/wet again there? and ive noticed that a lot with racing besides NASCAR which is what i normally watch.

raining is a huge part of the racing GT is trying to recreate and of course Kaz would know that and hes probably been dying to apply it in a GT game.

I dont take G4 seriously, they gave NFS Shift 5 out of 5 stars. With that type of rating maybe GT5 should get 13 out of 5 stars?

anyone else think its time that we as thr GTP community take up a "send a GTP reporter to XXX gameshow" instead of relying on some halo fanboy to ask Kaz questions. I'll pledge $5.

I actually meant power the most, but only thing I could come up with was disc space. ;) I would still enjoy the game without weather effect, but if its included, it would be a big bonus. And I think they should stick to the 1080p, because on full HD TVs it's very visible if you have 720 or 1080, and in the near future most peeps will have 1080 I imagine, so that would be the best.

I can't see those pictures.. I only get "bad request"

the blocks look like a rendering technique generated ..that could be rain..might be environment fog of some sort

I completely forgot about fog, but that would be really fun. Probably not possible on this generation of hardware, but I'd love racing round Nurburgring in the fog. Would look fantastic 👍
