I agree it's a bit hard at times to be in the dark about the release date.
Even when they confirm a December release date, it's going to be tough to wait another 3 months.
Just go to work, do what you normally do, the game will eventually be released this year.
And we will most likely know a little more this Wednesday or Thursday.

But I can tell you for sure.. it's coming out in October! :D

My guess is October and here's why:

As we all know, their website will be down tomorrow and will be updated with some new content (maybe not tomorrow but surely in TGS days) and I think they will announce it and like he said there, it will be a surprise, judging by that the release is very close...
I'm not hoping for anything, even if the release is in December I will be happy, I just needed to share my thought :)

There will not be a down time for a update. Those sites will be closed permanently.

So we will see all new region specific sites, not like it was to this time (translated from Japanese.)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the english GT site has been down for a very long time now. It just transfers us to the Playstation website.

Amar doesn't work for PD (just to clarify), and I don't believe Jordan works for Sony. Anyways, I think these two guys just have great connections and sources that we, (the common folks), do not have access to. Thankfully we have some people who have access to the sources! :)

Regarding the livery editor post: Yea, it really isn't that hard. Even if it's in between Grid and Forza, then we'd have some major fun. Major advancement fun!

I can assure you Jordan "DOES NOT" work for Sony. This site is a rival to Sony's & PD's sites regarding GT. So Sony have no interest in letting this site know anything.

As for October release date. It won't happen.

Yea, and I'd still be cautious because if these people (the informants) are close friends to them, they'd be risking their jobs, no? That's serious stuff. But it's good Jordan has great inside knowledge, especially being top dog of this site.

When people refer to the Santa Claus picture in the news section of GTplanet, most people immediately think of Christmas (December 25th). No game is coming out then. Ever. So now we have to back it up a bit. The X-mas season starts after Thanksgiving and the day after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping day in America. We call this Black Friday. So, there's no question that late November is a possible target for PD. Perhaps a week before Black Friday? If not November, early December makes sense. By early I mean the first week.

Other possibility, sometime after GT Mobile in October.

What are you saying?
Nothing.

4 days to go till the long fun, boring, exciting, melodramatic rollercoaster we called the GT5 waiting game is over.... kinda sad though, it was kinda fun waiting day by day for info, watching people whine, seeing people get there hopes up and freak the hell out when no new info was released.
aka the whole Pre GC2009 fiasco, it's hard to beileve how fast TGS is comming.

October is a no no. If it was to be released in October we would know about it already as there would be a hell of a lot of promotional material online and on TV, my guess is the same as everyone else's november or early december. They would be stupid not to release it in time for the Christmas rush!

Black Friday 2009=November 27th.

The advertisement of GT5 will be our biggest hint, unless TGS reveals it in 4-7 days! If we see ads on tv in October, you can bet it'll be out in November (Black Friday most likely). If we see ads beginning Black Friday, the game will be released in early December.

No need to get nostalgic, we aren't out of the woods yet! ;)

Sorry, I forgot we had an international audience here.

Black Friday, as SrRd said, will be on November 27th this year. More generally, it's "the day after Thanksgiving," which is a very big holiday in the US. Most people do not work on Thanksgiving or the following day (since it's the day before the weekend). Because everyone ends up having a four-day weekend, it is traditional for extended families to travel hundreds of miles (or more) to gather at a central location to have dinner, etc.

So once you've eaten the turkey and had a good night's sleep, you now have all of the mothers and grandmothers and great-grandmothers and aunts and cousins all gathered together with nothing to really entertain themselves. (The men are all watching football.) The natural solution is to go Christmas shopping, because it's coming up soon, you have the entire family gathered in one place (possibly for the only time this year) so it's easy to find out what everyone wants for Christmas and avoid buying duplicate gifts, and most importantly of all, women love to shop, especially in large groups.

As a result of this "perfect storm," literally around 90% of the women in this country go to the shops all at the same time and do 90% of their Christmas shopping. So if you intend your product to be "the thing to have this Christmas," it had better be available for purchase before Black Friday, or they'll just buy something else instead.

but most people outside of the US neither nor care when thanksgiving / black friday is.

i would be surprised if the thought even pooped into a japanese developers head.

It's supposedly going to be a world wide release (so says Kaz), so it will be a big deal to you lol!

America is a big target, so it makes sense. And again, if it's a world wide release, you may just have to settle for November 27th, despite it meaning absolutely nothing to you or your country's economy.

Black Friday= Gifts galore!

Black Friday sounds like the day to stay well away from any shop in America then!! 90% of women shopping all at once! al wanting the same pair of shoes or Prada handbag! Hell on earth although sitting in a coffee shop whatching them would make for a very fun day!!

But do you really think all these bored shopping women will run into a game store together and buy GT5???...
I think biggest sales will come from pre orders and freaks like us(lol)who will run to the store 2 hours before it opens on 1st sale day!!!...

But i might be wrong....:)

spyrrari.

Yeah, you're wrong. They buy everything. There's literally nothing left when they're finished. They're like locusts. Last year, $10,600,000,000 was spent at the shops on Black Friday alone, plus another $534,000,000 online. $41,000,000,000 was spent at retail over the Thursday-Sunday period. More than 172 million hit the shops over the weekend, with 73.6 million venturing out on Black Friday itself. The total population of the US is only 305 million, meaning that 56.4% of our total population was out that weekend, spending an average of $372.57 each. There about 155 million women living in the US, with 125 million of those aged 15+. So, yeah, pretty big day here. :)

All of that said though, the Saturday before Christmas is usually the biggest day of the year in terms of dollars spent. That's when all of the men do their shopping, and get stuck buying whatever's left, no matter how much it costs. :D

You know, it just occurred to me that Sony don't really have any big exclusives scheduled for a "Black Friday release" (typically, that would be mid-November). Both Ratchet and Uncharted 2 are coming out in October, which is usually early for titles of that caliber. And they've basically got nothing scheduled for the rest of the year. I wonder if they pushed those two out early so they could get some sales in before GT5 drops.
