Gran Turismo 6 coming to PS3

Really Gt6 may have standard Cars

Really ......

Well i'll be getting off at the next stop .. from the Hype train now ...
It's pretty much a given that GT6 will still have a certain amount of standard cars. Many of them are too rare/unusual to readily arrange new photoshoots to capture every detail again at PS3/4-level in the development time between GT5 and GT6.

I prefer having standard cars than less cars and variety in general.

Sony Computer Entertainment has announced Gran Turismo 6, the latest version of PlayStation's best-selling franchise, will be released in the holiday season, 2013. The news was revealed today by Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi at an event held to celebrate 15 years of the top-selling series.

"GT6 for PlayStation 3 will bring new levels of authenticity to 'the Real Driving Simulator' as well as introducing stunning new tracks and cars and a revised user interface," a press statement read.

"A new compact game engine will improve operation and increase the flexibility to expand it with downloadable content."

The game is also set for connectivity with devices such as smartphones and tablets for social and community functions.

All of the cars and tracks from Gran Turismo 5 will be retained in GT6. But notable additions to the line-up of historic cars, road cars and the latest race cars, brings the total car list to 1200 at launch, with new cars set to be continually added online.

Several thousand aerodynamic parts and custom wheels will be available for almost all cars, and players can personalise their own custom cars in-game as well.

The UK's Silverstone Circuit will be one of seven new locations in Gran Turismo 6, taking the total to 33, with 71 different layouts available, 19 of them being new.

New tracks are also set to be made available online, while the course maker has also seen improvements.

The press statement confirmed that the GT Academy series, which sees Nissan and Sony team up to find real racing drivers, will be returning.

Other notable partnerships in the development of GT6 have been with tyre manufacturer Yokohama Rubber and suspension company KW Automotive.

"It is amazing to think that it is 15 years since we first released Gran Turismo," explained Kazunori Yamauchi, during the announcement at Silverstone Circuit.

"Things have changed a lot since then and now Gran Turismo 6 is a further evolution of my dream. We're pleased to deliver GT6 to PlayStation 3 as we have a very loyal community on that platform.

True, who confirmed that?
Anyway, I'd prefer they included less 'cliche' tracks (as somebody brilliantly defined here on GTPlanet in a different thread).

Just to repeat, anything you see BEFORE 4PM is not a confirmation of anything. Nothing has been presented to anyone yet.

There is no information on cars, tracks or parts. There will not be for another 2hr 40 minutes - and there should not be for another 3hr 40 minutes due to the embargo.
Is Pikes Peak confirmed for GT6?
No. Nothing is confirmed. Not even the game - not even the game's name (which I don't think will be GT6 - I think it'll be GT and a letter, probably R) is confirmed.

There will be no confirmation of anything until 4pm BST (2hr 40 minutes from now) and there should be no confirmation of anything until 5pm BST - but you can bet someone will Tweet during the presentation.

Hey it would be awesome if GT6 comes to PS3. Does anyone know if the GT event is going to be livestreamed at all? Would love to watch it 👍

Since I'm in central time, everything should be known around 10am, correct?
There's a time convertor in Jordan's blog post.

It's certainly possible that someone's obtained a leaked press release - though my experience is that these will be in a packing case right now and only given out on entry to the presentation - and are publishing it. It's incredibly unwise for them to do this, because PD will just return to the days of dribbling info and "soon" if they can't trust the media they invite.

Anybody want that?

Why are people on other forums so up-in-arms about it being on the PS3? It sure didn't affect GT2 and GT4 when they were both announced for the same platforms as GT games that came before them.

As long as GT6 is an improvement, go make it on the PS3. People complaining are probably the same people who only look at graphics. The PS4 will be here for the next 7 years, it won't go away. Geez.

I don't believe it should be a given, and I've no doubt a lot of those photoshoots were also done before GT5 got released yet the modelling not started or finished by then (remember that Shelby Daytona Coupé being captured by PD shortly before GT5 was released?).
I also don't think variety has to suffer if there are less cars due to all being Premium, you can easily deduct hundreds of cars from the Standard list which use the same basic modelling, the variety in specification can be achieved using a Premium model as well.

Nope. wouldn't be a wise move for anybody for the sake of an hour.

Thanks Famine. I'm using the mobile app so I didn't catch that before.

Are you suggesting that they would "punish" people for "early leaks" by giving up participating to the advertising/hype machine? That would be extremely unwise for them, not the press.

Theres two sides here. One wants to see how amazing GT will look next gen while the other wants to play GT6 without shelling $400+ on it.

I would love to see GT6 on PS4 but I don't mind it on PS3 at all.

GTA5, GT6 and the new South Park will keep me busy for a long time.

I was going to buy a PS4(for the new Killzone game and maybe GT6) but if GT6 is announced for the PS3 then i'm not buying a PS4 until late next year

Yes.

They want to control the way information is given out. If inviting people who can't be trusted means they lose control, they'll stop doing it.
That would be extremely unwise for them, not the press.
Not really. They save money on 80-strong press junkets, flights, hotels and track rental and the information gets released exactly on time still because GT is the biggest racing game franchise and biggest Sony franchise in history.

Incidentally, the press are not even at Silverstone yet - they're just leaving the Sofitel at Heathrow. Which is 90 minutes' drive away from Silverstone. Leaks schmeaks.
