Gran Turismo 6 coming to PS3

"Mikoláš (reporter) reports from Silverstone that GT6 was just announced, so the speculations were right. More info coming" - From a Czech gaming TV Show Facebook

There's always leaks. We discovered this in Cologne for GT5 when it was made quite clear that there was an embargo on the news - and it frustrated some GTPers - only for a non-English language site to blow the embargo away by 12 hours. Everyone quickly followed suit and with the information propogating around the web we published as much as we could without stamping on the trust we were given - by reporting on what others were reporting.

Messy day, that. I know everyone's always anxious for news, but if we break embargo we don't get invited back and everyone loses - because eventually they stop giving everyone access.
And our internal sources grow ;)
I met Djie in Cologne 3 years ago
Did we find out who won the extra 'ticket'? Was he/she a GTP'er?
Yes and don't know, in that order.

I'm grouchy about that because even the question setters got their own third answer wrong.

I would have concerns about the game if that is true. Programming the PS3 alone pickled their heads, never mind throwing another two systems into the mix.
I think most of the difficult work would be on the PS4 port to take advantage of the more powerful hardware.
GT5 graphically-speaking, is pretty much done. A PSVita port wouldn't probably be too hard considering technically speaking it's more or less on par with the PS3 but has a lower display resolution. Again, there already are games with a dual PS3-PSVita release, so it shouldn't be an insurmountable task.

New cars, tracks, game content and to some extent car physics too, should be more or less system-agnostic, provided that they make it with the most powerful target system in mind and only then downscale quality accordingly depending on the port.

Not sure if true or they're just trying to get there first?

Probably the latter.

But notable additions to the line-up of historic cars, road cars and the latest race cars, brings the total car list to 1200 at launch, with new cars set to be continually added online.

Several thousand aerodynamic parts and custom wheels will be available for almost all cars, and players can personalise their own custom cars in-game as well.

Very worrying if true, considering that with DLC, GT5 already has 1141 cars and 31 tracks (60 layouts, 81 with reversed ones).

Makes sense that GT6 would just include all current DLC and a bit more. But if you're trying to be optimistic you could say that they mistakenly added 7 tracks to the launch spec and not the current track count.

Silly question. Seeing that GTPlanet is one of the more well-known Gran Turismo fan sites, did anyone on this website think to actually show up to Silverstone?

Conjecture is nice and all, but when tangible evidence is somewhere, shouldn't it be pursued? Do we have UK anons in this thread?

I think it will be a multiplatform (PS3/PS4/PSVita) release.

- The PS3 has far a too large userbase worldwide to be ignored.
- The PS4 is supposed to come out during the end of this year and Sony can't miss a killer application like Gran Turismo.
- PSVita needs something to boost its sales. There are a number of games that are having a dual PS3/PSVita release in the japanese market, so it wouldn't be the first time this happened.

I personally think that it won't be released for PS3. PD is owned by Sony and the smartest move for Sony is to to have GT6 for the PS4.

I'm fairly sure the revenue from additional console sales will outweigh the additional revenue from releasing GT6 for the PS3. Also, I doubt PD has the manpower to simultaneously focus on multiple platforms. So again, I think they will focus their resources on the PS4.

Additionally, the PS3 has hit its peak long ago. It was released in 2006 or something. Online gameplay is super, and I mean SUPER outdated. Some smartphones have more RAM... The PS4 probably addressed some of those limitations, further increasing the appeal to release it on the PS4.

I think we will need to wait for a couple of trailers, delays and the announcement of the release date for the PS4 before getting a precise release date.

Anyway, let's see if I'm 100% wrong on this :P

Just so you know, NO information is being released until the presentation at 4pm. No-one there knows anything now they didn't know last week.

The iafrica piece is simply put together from wishes and Kazunori's Facebook feed...
For some reason, that does seem pretty detailed, for example, claiming new new tracks and new manufacturer partners like Yokomaha. If it is true then I am happy with the news.
... in which he posted about visiting KW and Yokohama.

Nothing in there is true, unless it's accidentally true.

Yes. Our site owner is there. By invitation from SCEA.

A few other journalists who also use GTP are there, but no-one who hasn't been invited can get in.

It's an invite-only event.

The site owner is attending the event as guest (which has been mentioned many times in this thread and on the news feed).

As for just turning up at Silverstone and walking in, not going to happen, I've been to the place at least 50 times and these days you don't just get to wander in.

Maybe not. Might mean we have 600 Premium MX-5s and 600 Premium Nissan GT-R's :)

"The news was revealed today by Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi at an event held to celebrate 15 years of the top-selling series."

Considering this "event" hasn't taken place yet. I wouldn't take this as fact.
