Gran Turismo 6 coming to PS3

The tracks will have already been finished, but they are going to hold them back for DLC to make more money. This is a pretty standard business practice in the game industry. So I assume 7 tracks in GT6 that werent in GT5, those will ship with the game. After that we'll get new tracks via DLC.

I just hope it's not $4 - $5 per track. Just trying to get all the GT4 tracks back would cost more than the game itself.

A lot more than GT5 I should hope but that still pretty much confirms it's more of the same, or at least strongly suggests it.

As for track DLC, I don't see that as a positive. After three years I'd expect more ready to go on the disc. Like I say a lot of the stuff sounds very promising, the physics extremely so but I am very apprehensive over the content and gameplay at this stage.

Maybe like pCARS, PD will be releasing the tracks as DLC since they haven't gotten to finish them yet, you know? :)

Jordan mentioned earlier via Twitter that he saw the game cover of GT6... so what car was on it? Did he ever tell us?

Hopefully there will be a season pass, so getting all of that content will be slightly cheaper. The standard for this is a 15% discount.

The problem is in mid 2014 are you going to want to buy GT6 track DLC over brand new games for the PS4, and the console itself? I can't say that I would be.

If the amount of cars are indeed true, then we can more than likely count on the return of the duplicates. As well the standards/or some sort of sub-premium models. This and the sounds worries me the most. I'm not the biggest fan of their DLC-approach either, deliberately leaving content out.

As far as today's announcement goes, what we've seen and heard is great and absolutely droolworthy. I'm really excited about the new physics engine and customization.

Edit: Still somewhat baffled that it is a PS3 title.

Anyone else want them to just drop all the standard cars completely?

Well you didn't ask if anybody wants them to KEEP all the standards, but I'll chime in.

They could easily make the game playable with only premiums, but keep the standards in there. Why get rid of them?

Personally, I'd be perfectly happy with a GT that had NO fwd cars. I hate them and I never drive them unless an event requires it.

So I say keep the standards and throw out the front wheel drives.

Yes I'm joking. I realize alot of people like the fwds and who am I to say they can't use them? Same goes for those that want to get rid of standards.

Don't like them? Don't use them.

SO we will only get 7 new tracks and 60 new cars, that can't be right

I guess it depends on how many of the standards that has been remade into premiums and if their old standard versions are removed or not. Like the Alpine and the Countach. If that's the case, then there might be 60 new cars and as unknown number of premium upgrades. Same thing with the tracks, instead of focusing on adding new, they may have given old tracks facelifts... I guess we'll know more at E3.

I don't know if you were the original poster, but it's about the "technical" aspects of the game. The number of cars or tracks don't mean squat. Now you're saying "80% of cars is just ported" how is that supposed to be "technical" in terms of achieving performance and graphics?

Yes, 800 cars were ported but guess what, there's more to a game than the number of cars. You're saying the 800 cars make up the majority of the game? Stop being foolish. Did they also port the lighting engine? Physics? Sounds? I.e. everything else? You are zeroing in on the number of standard cars yet the game consists more than standard cars.

How is it that in a racing game that the cars and tracks don't mean squat?! :dunce:

I'm not 'now' saying this... I've BEEN saying that the bulk of content is port work. Do the math, 1000+ cars but 80% are ported standards. A bunch of tracks but Trial Mountain and High Speed Ring are not at the same level as London or Rome. The game's been in development since GT4 and technical merits are given to making GT5 the best looking console racer to date, when the stars are aligned of course. They do have weather which jags up the edges looking like crap and takes a major hit on performance especially when mayhem occurs. Frame rate and screen tearing occurs quite often and you can blindly neglect it entirely but PD themselves have optimized the game for performance throughout the 25+ patches. All you need as proof of this is in one of the patches where track side models were removed on premium tracks like London to improve frame rate and tearing.
Physics have been greatly improved from past GT games (and even tweaked a few times) but there are quirks and issues that still are around since past GT games. And please don't ever mention crap sounds as a defense to GT :sly:

I commend PD for what they actually have done, technically and all, but I don't go on blindly worshiping them because reality is they released an unfinished game with a ton of issues that still stand today. This is why i am most looking forward to GT6, even if standard work is carrying over, it can't be worst than how GT5 was at launch and how disappointed I was with the game. And when GT5 does shine (because I'm not saying it doesn't), no other game touches it. If GT6 becomes what GT5 should have been then we are all in for a surprise.

The other problem is integrating the DLC tracks to the single player mode. I'm going to be sad if all we can do with the DLC tracks is free run and online, just like in GT5.

Hate to snap some reality back in here, but what happened to the bi-monthly targeted DLC for GT5?

I think it's safe to assume that PD has stopped supporting GT5 via DLC. There were never any plans to support the game with DLC for years to come. GT5 has the pretty standard amount of DLC for a game.

Look what you've done! My fwd standard Peugeot 106 is crying in the corner :(

I spotted some new tracks in the trailer...

The upper question mark is Nurburgring/Nordschleife.

Although I doubt it but yes you do have a point

With about 60 new cars and 7 tracks for GT6, they might want to save as much content for GT6 as possible at this point. Having more GT5 DLC will take away from GT6, leaving little desire for new content on the new game.
