Gran Turismo 6 coming to PS3

Nothing new
GT 1/2 PS1
GT 3/4 PS2
GT 5/6 PS3.

GT 7/8 PS4 and so on.

This bothers me, if PS4 was on the market already, what would be the point of lauching a GT for PS3? Who cares how many games have been launched in each platform, that is non-sense because many market studies and they would see any profit making GT6 a launch title for the PS4, they wouldn't think twice and made it a PS4 game, leaving the PS3 with one main GT game.

The PlayStation 3 has a 70 million user base, while the PlayStation 4 has zero. When you consider how expensive Gran Turismo is to make, meaning the game needs to sell really well each time; it's not hard to do the math and figure out that GT6 on the PS4 at launch would be a bad idea.

Video games have to have strong sales within the first 2 months, more so for a AAA title such as this. It would be a bad business decision to make this game for the PS4.

I see differences in lightning, Day/Night cycle for silverstone?

All I see is Tesla Model S

I asked three questions on; engine sounds, clarification on "personalised custom cars", and rules and regulations on in-game championships, such as Nascar and WRC.

We have done this to death, GT6 would not have been a profitable launch title for the PS4, for the PS3 it will be.

Not sure if stated, but makes sense to release it for the PS3. We have reached the point of maximum graphics for Gran Turismo, the only thing left to render to the fullest is the tracks. Plus, 1000+ cars and 30+ tracks is asking a lot for a console game.

👍 Hopefully they aren't too cryptic on their answers and give us some good information

I assume it's new tracks, as Spa, Kart Space and Route X were in GT5. DLC is part of the game, after all.
I'm asking because if they mean the vanilla version of GT5, then by counting in Brands Hatch as rumored when there was confusion with the early press release leak by that african gaming website, Silverstone with all variations, SSR11 as speculated by the trailer, and some "obvious" variations they forgot/didn't have time to put in GT5, we would easily have the 71 total layouts (excluding reverse ones) expected for GT6:

(34 tracks, but I guess Eiger Nordwand dirt and road courses can be counted as 1, making the total track number 33)

Anyway, just speculating around. To me, content-wise, it appears that GT6 will turn out to be worse than the most pessimistic expectations I've had so far.

Well I guess this means I'm buying GT6 for PS3 after all. I was hoping for GT6 on PS4. However so far the screenshots look great.

I want to believe that GT5-DLC-tracks are not counted as new. But haven't figured out yet how they count those 33.

Yep, they look amazing and all the annoucements regarding new core and new engines sound great, too. I think they really focused on technology instead of giving us just 200 new cars and 20 tracks. They give us a new platform and cars and tracks will follow on a monthly basis. Yes, it's extra money, but it will keep the game fresh and new for quite some time.

Just said that. Always defended that GT as a lauch title on the PS4 would be a terrible idea

I'm hoping every track has the option to set at least a full sun cycle, maybe weather too.

In any case, just having Silverstone and some of the classic GT tracks coming back is so awesome.

I'm really interested in seeing how deep the whole "Players themselves can create and manage their own online events" community aspect goes. Right now, with the post-GT5 mindset I'm thinking this means Event Creator 2.0 is coming, where people can make their own seasonal events to challenge people. The "club" thing sounds like Forza 4 though, and that really didn't appeal to me.

My pre-GT5 mindset says this will be an awesome custom online championship maker.

One of the questions I'd love answered asap though, is whether online rooms will still be limited to 16 or not. 24 would be really nice...

SO we will only get 7 new tracks and 60 new cars, that can't be right

For me, 7 new tracks is an awsome amount. Put it like this, each new circuit could have multiple layouts, for example,

Silverstone
- National
- International
- GP
- Bridge
- Stowe

Not sure how many layouts Willow Springs, Bathurst and Pikes Peak have but we could have a lot of variations with 7 new tracks. Just hope we get Sebring and Brands as they have great alternative layouts.

yay, monthly DLC, leaves on Autumn Ring haven't seen that since GT4, on the PS3 around november/december (great timing... not) ... I will probably buy it just to try new physics and up to date online, just hope for car import from GT5 because I don't see myself going through all sunday cups and everything

LOL @ people salty about GT6 not being on PS4.

Sony will be shooting themselves in the foot if GT6 were to launch with PS4. Do you guys have any idea how that will turn out?

Of all Sony's franchises, Gran Turismo moves units. All of the GTs sold 10+ million units each, so GT6 can very well sell 5 million if it wants to. Problem is, can Sony produce enough PS4 at launch so it can keep up with the demand for GT6? LOL.

Releasing GT6 (or any GT game at this point) at the launch of a new console would be suicide for Sony. Demand would be so huge that Sony would need a whole year to make PS4s just for a GT game, and because GT is one of those games that transcends regions, Sony would have to supply North/South America, Europe, and Asia.

Add the fact that it will definitely cannibalize and dominate any PS4 launch game, even a Naughty Dog or Santa Monica game.

So yes, a GT6 game on PS4's launch will sell, but the problem isn't GT6 itself.

I would suggest that the personalized custom cars feature is probably still very much a work in progress and we won't get any detailed information about it just yet.

Anyway, just speculating around. To me, content-wise, it appears that GT6 will turn out to be worse than the most pessimistic expectations I've had so far.

It's really a too small improvement over GT5 regarding tracks. I hoped for 10-20 new tracks. And now we get 7 minus DLCs as it seems - just two?

But they will release new once on a regular basis. It costs extra, but there will be new stuff coming in.

Hm, that's interesting. I haven't actually counted them. But wouldn't there be a circuit at that epic bridge town too? That would bring it up to 35. Maybe some old tracks will be left out? Although I can't see the reason for that...

Jordan - Can you ask Kaz about the AI, has been improved, will they be harder to beat and will we get more than 12 of them to race against please?

It says 19 new layouts among those 7 locations if I'm not mistaken.

If not mentioned until now, the new cover of GT6 will feature the new Ferrari F12 Berlinetta :sly: can´t wait for the GT Academy and the GT6 Demo!!

I thought Top Gear TT was dropped for GT6? Not 100% sure mind but I think I read it somewhere.
