Gran Turismo 6 coming to PS3

Forza 5 is expected to be announced next week. If it's on the new Xbox, it's going to absolutely smoke Gran Turismo 6.
Its on a new generation console. If it comes out and doesn't beat GT6 on a previous generation console it'll look ridiculous. I won't turn this into a war anyway but thats my view.

And guys, lets not hate on it. Leave that til tomorrow, C'MON WE GOT A NEW GRAN TURISMO! :D

I like both GT and Forza. However I always preferred playing games on the latest consoles, which made me kinda miss great game experiences of late generation games like PS1/2 and even Wii (I can't enjoy the 480P Mario on my 60 inch HDTV, how great that game might be).
And lately I'm kind of getting tired of the technical limitations of this generation. It's about time after 6-8 years.

Forza my friend does not sell units.

Maybe. But I'll buy and play it. And if both games will be released at aboutthe same time I'll probably be annoyed by the technical limitations of the PS3 and play Forza on "Xbox720" instead. I suppose..

Its called Drive club.

Of course. Got it wrong.

Was I? All I said was that they haven't revealed everything and have been coy with some details in the press release. It doesn't say in what capacity the cars and tracks will be returning (Standard, with weather/night etc?) but that line in general however cannot be interpreted in any other way, it's a clear statement.

Whatever Simon, feel free to pick and choose whatever fits your agenda 👍

Welcome back.... I see the break did nothing for you.

Not sure if this has been posted already, but the "Massive scenery spanning several tens of square kilometers" looks amazing...could this mean we get some sort of free-roam mode? Because that looks huge (unless some parts aren't properly modeled/not for driving). And this Ronda, Andalucia, Spain I think.

So 1,200 cars. I read that as every car from GT5 imported directly into GT6, keeping the standard cars, standard. Then adding about 200-ish 'new' premium cars. Anyone else want them to just drop all the standard cars completely?

I'm sure a few 'fan favorite' standard cars got updated to premium, but, I'd be totally happy with 600 cars all premium.

Sounds like you're the one with the agenda. SimonK is routinely the level headed one around here, that knows how to put things into perspective.

Hmm, help me clarify that a bit, sorry. What would be the difference between 7 more than 7 new?

well 7 more then GT5 with a total of 33, then they even can be all new in the extreme case

if it's 7 new, then it's the existing 26 of GT5 + 7 new ones

I wonder how many events will be there. 0.0 Oh and don't forget Simon, there'll be track DLC every month too. :)

A lot more than GT5 I should hope but that still pretty much confirms it's more of the same, or at least strongly suggests it.

As for track DLC, I don't see that as a positive. After three years I'd expect more ready to go on the disc. Like I say a lot of the stuff sounds very promising, the physics extremely so but I am very apprehensive over the content and gameplay at this stage.

Question is have the standard variations been dropped or are they left in to bump up the figures?. Premium and standard same model car.

Knowing PD I think I know the answer.

Yes, I want them to drop the standard cars. It's not brag worthy or impressive to say you have 1200 cars when the majority of them are of very poor quality. Inconsistent quality in a game from a big time AAA developer isn't acceptable under any circumstances.

Could someone please tell me what Adaptive Tessellation is? I missed the memo.

I'm no expert, but it's a way to add more detail to a 3D mesh without adding more polygons. Adaptive tessellation will add more detail when it's needed, eg. when the object is closer to the camera, or only on the faces that are exposed to the camera.

Please explain where I am picking and choosing to fit my agena?

I said what they've said sounded good for the most part but the press release was sketchy in parts (which it is) but that part is not sketchy, it's bluntly clear. I really don't see how this is picking and choosing.

Nope. But I'm eager to see how regularly they are going to add track DLC's. They said montly, let's hope so. And let's also hope that they'll be at a reasonable price.

How the hell can they pump out tracks monthly. That's crazy. Unless its already to ship.

It's GT5.5 really, isn't it?

Obviously they are trying to fix the abundant problems with GT5 by starting afresh in the mechanics sense. But everything else from it is being kept.

Provided the mechanics are nailed this time, then more people will like it than seems to be the case here. But waiting for a new console is all that really seems to be the answer, to truly start anew with cars and tracks, PD would seem to suggest.

Uhh... Is that not the same thing?

I think what he means is that 7 new tracks would be 7 tracks never seen in the Gran Turismo games before. 7 more tracks would mean tracks from the previous games.

I think it's safe to assume that it's going to be a mix. Obviously Silverstone is one of the new tracks.

The tracks will have already been finished, but they are going to hold them back for DLC to make more money. This is a pretty standard business practice in the game industry. So I assume 7 tracks in GT6 that werent in GT5, those will ship with the game. After that we'll get new tracks via DLC.

I did want standards dropped up until I started reading the 5 favorite standards thread and realized I'd miss quite a few when they are gone. Still wanted them out for the better overall quality but I have a feeling we have just seen at least one standard in that video with work done to it/them.

I may be entirely wrong mind and will be the first to hold my hands up and admit it 👍

Anyhow I am out of this thread for now as it seems to be degrading faster than a set of pirelli's in the hands of Lewis Hamilton.

:indiff: For your hateration? No. For the better levels of detailed graphics? Yes. Kaz & PD put in some good work. I give credit where it's due. Good job Kaz and Team. HooRah

I think his answer of "Does anyone really care" was in response to the question on car sounds and not GT6 itself.

Get out, Forza fanboy. Suck on those GT6 3D trees pics lol

lmao

I think I'm more into GT than you are lol. Owned every full release GT game to date since GT1 on PS1 days, purchased a PSP very close to system launch just for GT PSP, own 3 compatible wheels and have sunk hours upon hours into GT games on multiple profiles and systems. I even am the sole car sharer of my personal PS3 only owning friends.

I just happen to also like Forza a lot and don't blindly defend something I'm into.
GT and FM after all are my 2 favorite franchises of all games out there.
You do know that there are people in this world who like more than what their mother buys them right? ;)

I don't mind if there aren't so many new tracks for GT6. I only care about the events and championships, we can give good use to those tracks now.

Also I would love to see at least 30% of GT5's (S) cars being (P) for GT6 plus the new additions.

And I can see how the cars have more organic suspension movements. No more dull replays on GT6!!

Its arguably GT5 Redux, given that its pretty much what I was actually expecting originally for GT5.

However the news with regard to the physics model does at the very least have me interested.
