Gran Turismo 6 coming to PS3

I think that the PS3 is capable of at least 24 cars on track. Look at the F1 games. They are about 22-24 cars aren't they?

At 720p and 30fps though. Sacrifices would have to be made. As is GT5 doesn't normally run 16 car grids, the norm in single player game play is 12 as the hardware has to account for the AI processing.

30 fps Gran Turismo is never going to happen. Master Yamauchi himself said something like that in the past ( before GT5 if I remember correct).

The current GT5 ranges from 60fps to sub-20fps in the same race depending on many variables (premium car/track, weather, amount of cars on track, etc). I would honestly love to see the next GT game run at a solid 60fps with minimal dips in frame rate and screen tearing. If they have to run it natively at 720p then so be it. Performance > prettiness to me.

Yes, you are right. He, back in the day, admitted frame dropping to happen in rainy conditions.
But 720p? Polyphony Digital? I doubt that very much.

I'm not hyped, its just going to be more skylines and GTRs(add sarcasm).
Give it a rest will you...three mini-rant posts about the same thing. Everyone else is happy speculating and you're trying to harsh the buzz with irrelevant stuff, why?

If you don't like the GT-Rs and Skylines, please go and play elsewhere. It really is as simple as that.
I'm afraid you're wrong, a gaming web here in Slovakia says it's gonna be announced too and it's not just some web... They have been at PD, talking to Kaz in 2009 and 2011, making interviews with him... So I am pretty sure they got the right informations...

However, we'll see tomorrow ;)
That was quite a long time ago in terms of game release schedules. I don't think that info, even in 2011 would be relevant anymore.

I'd be happy to be wrong of course...

Yea I know it was a long time ago, though it doesn't have to mean that they weren't in touch with PD meanwhile... My point was maybe they know something we don't. And maybe, as you see years 2009 and 2011, we'll see some new interview with Kaz soon in 2013... Well, I will see and tell you guys later since it's slovak web. :P

(If anyone was interested in "reading" the latest interview from 2010 I was talking about, here you go, but you better translate the page via chrome: http://sector.sk/clanok/29187/interview_kazunori_yamauchi.htm :) )

DF's own analysis with the game at launch showed frame drops happen at 720p and 1080p, not just in the rain either. It happens more in the rain though.

I only brought up 720p because to get more than 16 cars on grid that sacrifices have to be made. As is it is rare that GT5 will make a 16 car grid in career/single player. You normally race 12 cars at one time.

I'm just reading the interview I posted earlier and this is interesting, what he said that they can push more from PS3 - they didn't reach the limit with GT5 :P GT6 is coming to PS3 imo

You can race 16 cars in Single Player, though. PD just... didn't.

One of the 16 car single player events was the Grand Tour Italy at Monza. It had by far the worst framerate of any race in the game I've experienced.

GT6 cant handle 16 cars in single player without serious framerate problems. Even online with 16 cars theres things like headlights only displayed for a few cars and other big cuts to make it work

If GT6 is on PS3 there will have to be cuts to get even just 16 cars on track at a solid 60fps. 24 cars is definitely out of the question

One of the other ones was the JGTC race at Spa, with weather; and the game basically worked about as well as it did any other time you played it.

Maybe they can optimize things (programming wise) in such a way that it demands less of the ps3 and can spend the freed up resources on things like extra cars etc.?

How would you know given that its not out yet?

I may not be correct in saying this, but shouldn't the removal of 3D should help quite a bit.

It should. Just like GT5P was without 3D.

Can someone explain to me how the game being 3D capable affects the performance of the game if 3D isn't enabled?

I'll be happy to explain it to you... It doesn't affects 2D gameplay actually but the time screwed with 3D implementation and making some things worse quality then they were in GT5P in order to make the game running stable in 3D, that time could be used on optimizing the game in native 2D gameplay. That's how, in my vision.

So it's just assumption that 3D had a negative cause and effect on the game? I guess we will see with GT6 if KY really finds 3D a useful feature or if it was forced on him by Sony due to tv sales.

Yeah, technically it doesn't hurt 2D performance at all.

Okay, fair assumption. Please keep us informed if anything comes up.

I smell one of the biggest teasers in the history of gaming tomorrow.

A very short teaser showing a wheel, smoke and then a huge "SOON".

Sure hope its not just GT Academy. While cool, I'd prefer details on GT6 like a system it'll be on. I might have stumbled across something on twitter talking of this. The guy in question seemed to be a video game insider who tests pre releases and does write ups. I'll take another look to see if he has something on this.

I'd like to think that the announcements this week will be like the PS4 conference back in February; a clear warmup to E3, but while also offering quite a bit of new info.

Excuse my ignorance, but, event?
