Very Interesting indeed, short announcements before E3 is not unheard off,and with the X-BOX reveal later this month this could be Sony trying to steal part of the sshow, roll on this week.
Generally speaking, a better system means a better game, because the potential for cool features is much greater.Better system =/= better game.
Well, Jordan is "feeling good".... Amar states "no one will disappointed"... GT6 just might make this place explode with happiness.
Can someone explain to me whats happening in 2 days?
SONY is making a big announcement about a new game, and it seems that game could be most likely GT6:tup:
I remember the forums going through similar phases during GT5's hype era.
Poise. Poise is key.
Even on PS3, don't tell me that Gran Turismo 6 isn't going to cast a huge cloud over the racing game market
For the sake of the franchise, and for the prosperity of the PS4, it must be a PS4 release title, or else it will get ripped apart by Forza 5.
I'd wait another year or more to get a world class, massively upgraded game on the latest console, than a slightly improved one on a console that will soon be outdated, then wait several more years again for GT7, if putting it on the PS3 doesn't already destroy it completely.
Just like a user on here has said already, GT5 may end up being PES, and Forza will become FIFA if Sony does something stupid.
Considering his second post is entirely a response to the post that followed it, I'm going to say it was a database screwup.
Scaff made a slight error in the PS3 sales. I think he meant over 70 million, not 170 million. But I think the most obvious answer is the "right" one.
Yes generally speaking a new system provides a better potential for better games, I didn't say anything that would suggest otherwise. What I said was that a better system doesn't equal better games, because its not an automatic thing at all. Its perfectly possible for any sequel on the PS4 to actually be inferior as a title to its fore-bearers on an older machine.I'm just going to settle on one point for now because I'm dead tired and need to slink off to bed.
Generally speaking, a better system means a better game, because the potential for cool features is much greater.
Many of us have old game systems and their libraries because those old games were unique and have their own charm. But let's be real here. I love my Dreamcast, but I don't want to see a new racer for it, or my PS2. I still have a seven year old Pentium 4 PC, but I'm buying zero games for it. When on rare occasions I do buy a new PC game, I need something remotely current to run it.
And yet you have acknowledged in the past that PD could make a few changes to the GT5 package, such as drop the res to 720 to free up RAM for graphical tweaks, tidy up the engine (which is still more than possible), up the number of premium cars, add in new tracks and sort out the UI.The PS3 has clearly reached its technological peak, as has the 360. In fact, when Turn 10 wanted to take the graphics of Forza 4 to the next level, they hired a Hollywood graphics studio at who knows what cost to do it. Neither the 360 or PS3 has enough ram for all the auto sounds for all the cars, at least incredibly realistic ones, so Forza 4 has fewer engine sounds for other cars, and GT5 has "vacuum cleaner" sounds for theirs.
There was no Movie Maker for GT5 because of the ram limitations of PS3, and for Forza 4, you can produce a whopping half-minute long video clip. Whatever games are produced for PS3 are going to have to fit into that cramped space that developers found a little tight to start with back in 2005 or so when they began making games for it. One poster on the PS Universe forums quoted a rather lengthy letter back in 2006 from a developer who stated that they would be approaching PS3 like a much bigger and more powerful PS2, and would still have to be doing a lot of data shuffling of textures and audio in and out of ram, because HD content demanded a lot of resources. It's even more true late in the PS3's life, because gamers want better games this year than they had last year.
And another thing I've been forgetting to mention. Even on PS3, don't tell me that Gran Turismo 6 isn't going to cast a huge cloud over the racing game market. A lot of features we want will either be gimped on PS3 or just won't work, like the Movie Maker. Do you want 24 car fields or more for multiclass racing? Night racing with vivid and realistic lighting, and most cars casting headlights across the countryside? That won't happen on PS3, especially the lighting which is extremely processor taxing. But even a more basic GT6 on PS3 is going to grab market attention like cheap beer at a beach. Between it and P Cars, I've already lost interest in Drive Club, and P CARS doesn't excite me like Gran Turismo does. Does the latest word of what SMS has done light up the net with worldwide chatter? Or the slightest rumor of some game made by a bunch called Polyphony?
GT5P caused a bump in PS3 sales at a point when Sony and its contractors were able to meet that demand, even with the plants working overtime the yield rates on new machines are always low and as such its not going to help Sony sell PS4's.And on the PS4 base, this is an irrelevant point. Even Prologue caused a hefty bump in PS3 sales. If GT6 is made for PS4, don't tell me that SONY will have had their plants working overtime to keep up with demand, because PS4 sales will jump drastically when Gran Turismo is made for it, whenever that is.
I've not assumed anything, I've actually approached this from a logical financial sense, looking at it from the view of a company and its offshoot that are looking to maximise the investments they have already made and ensure the sales opportunities for the hardware and software they are looking to release.I'll say it again. Don't assume anything with GT6. This is a weird year, and anything could happen. Hopefully Wednesday will give us something to celebrate, no matter what Playstation it's made for. Amar seems pretty confident we'll all be happy, so I'm feeling pretty good about whatever Kaz, both Kaz's, drop in our laps.
It will not.
It will not.
It will not.
I can't say - because I don't know - when the actual announcement is going to be announced - but game will not be announced tomorrow. *Maybe* only announcement of the announcement, but nobody knows that yet.
I'm afraid you're wrong
Lord ProtectorI'm afraid you're wrong, a gaming web here in Slovakia says it's gonna be announced too and it's not just some web... They have been at PD, talking to Kaz in 2009 and 2011, making interviews with him... So I am pretty sure they got the right informations...
However, we'll see tomorrow
Do you think GT Academy for this year will be announced within the next few days? Today there is meant to be a Playstation event in Brazil, so maybe if they are bringing GT Academy to that country, it will be best time to announce it.I can't say - because I don't know - when the actual announcement is going to be announced - but game will not be announced tomorrow. *Maybe* only announcement of the announcement, but nobody knows that yet.
