I'm disappointed with GT7 too but so far T10 doesn't really advertise FM very well. All they say is "built from the ground up", ray tracing in gameplay and damages.

Back to GT7, Anyone have a recommendation on which track, weather and time setting that can make photomode or replay look really beautiful in time trial ?

Things where I like forza motorsport 7 better (note: I havent played fm7 in years):
  • more cars and tracks
  • the auction house is great
  • much bigger career mode than gt7
  • playing on harder dificulty earns you more credits
  • chase camera

Things where I like gran turismo 7
better:
  • gameplay (cars feel more agile and responsive)
  • tunning feels like it has a bigger impact
  • Pit stops in fm7 are a joke
  • gt7 has fuel map, fm7 doesnt
  • driver licences, circuit experiences and missions
  • gt7 has 60fps replay, fm7 is just 30

Things I dislike in both:
  • Lazy post launch content in both
  • the AI in both
  • both tend to ignore their community
  • fm7 tried to implement loot boxes
  • gt7 launched with overpriced cars but small rewards from races so players would spend real money in credits
  • fm7 you can buy a car pass that doubles your money earned. Not much diferent from ubisoft's xp boosters

I wonder if the partnership with Toyota can be an obstacle for 499P to appear in the game
In theory, what may hinder the insertion of other HyperCars besides the GR010 Hybrid is the WEC licensing agreement with Motorsport Games.

As a rule, when more than one car from a motorsport series is added, it may constitute an indirect violation of your series rights. That's why PD only adds one F1 car.

I spoke in theory. I don't know the terms of Motorsport Games with the WEC.

But, if HyperCars (LMh) appear in other national and international series, as with GT3 cars, Motorsport Games and WEC cannot demand exclusivity.

I'm talking in theory. Because this universe of gt cars and prototypes cars is very diverse, not exclusive like F1.

I think Forza Motorsport will feature the V8 Caddy hypercar and GR010, so that's 2. I think there is a chance we might get more than just one hypercar. I wouldn't mind getting a LMP2 either.

One potential loophole could be lmdh cars in imsa, which would open the door to the Cadillac, bmw acura or maybe the porsche making it into the game

I feel like gt isn’t trying to get into F1 and or hypercar/ lmp races. They’re cool cars but driving cars like the first gen Bmw m3 is what appealed to me. Also you really dont see those cars racing at 24h Nurburgring

IMO the gt pro and gt am races have more action in the endurance league

Forza Motorsport 8 apparently also has the WEC version of the Cadillac V-Series.R so it's definitely possible for both GT7 and FM8 to have more Hypercars and LMDh's.

Well, PD seem to have race cars one or two years behind. 2023 Hypercars just debuted. Next year, even more hypercars debut. May take them a while to add other manufacturers. I wouldn’t rule out Porsche(a PD partner) or Ferrari( regardless or licencing, at least it’s not F1). Add Peugeot and BMW to the list. We’ll see.

They aren't doing enough for the next generation of car enthusiasts. GT7 doesn't inspire the same feeling as GT4 does and that's a real shame to be honest. There's less character and less heart to hold the attention of young people.
To be fair even if they did more, it still wouldn't work. Cars just don't hook people like they used to. Car culture has shifted dramatically and it just isn't the same as it was then. Cars are just simply a niche that doesn't attract now like it used eve nwith maximum effort put in. People have to actually want it to even get into it and frankly, there's not as many people that want it like there used to in our time.
Kids aren't stupid. If they like something, they will stick with it. Most games today simply fail to make a good enough impression on younger audiences because all developers care about is money...
While true, the same doesn't apply nearly as much to cars anymore no matter. Definately true that money basically has trumped all else but frankly that's an issue even outside the realm of gaming as a whole really.
Forza games = American over exaggerated crap with boosted and edited sounds just like in fast and furious movies nothing more!
Do you actually have much experience with Forza games (Not just Horizon, which I assume is where you base this off of) to make such a bold generalization?

Except from what I have read, that directly only applies to F1. Thats why Forza 7 for example only had the Renault R.S.17 and why even the original rFactor for its base content ONLY has the BMW Sauber F1.08. Nowhere in that agreement do I read that the cars are not allowed to be in any other game, only that the names "Le Mans 24 Hour" and "World Endurance Championship" are exclusive to Motorsports games and the new game supposedly releasing (Which hilariously won't even feature the Garage 56 Camaro despite MSG still having the NASCAR license )

So what, just give up? Why can't we make people more excited about cars? It's still a major part of our modern world and it's not going away anytime soon. However a new approach is needed to capture the attention of young people.

I don't think there's any one specific thing that can magically attract an audience who aren't into cars in the first place.

I do think that presenting cars as nigh unobtainable FOMO bait through an interactive Hagerty® ad* is not the sort of car culture I find appealing.

* Hagerty is an American company that provides car insurance and valuation for classic cars, and has also sponsored many historic car events in recent years.

You forgot to add a particular sect of GTP’s membership mantra to your post….even if only in italics.

*never pass up an opportunity to directly link all of GT7’s problems to micro transactions 🙄

True. The "progress" in the game seems to hurt MTX more than help sell that feature. Why spend money on credits, to buy cars that open tickets more than are used for actual races?:sly:

You actually described the logic of the user you quoted - they seem to think "none of the races* matter, only buying credits is".

*past the first 39 menu books, I assume

It would have been, if the players at the World Tour, on that fateful day, told Kaz exactly what they'd like in a next GT game. Not just leave Kaz to ponder what he thinks players would like in a nostalgic GT game.

The thing is, the younger people are growing up with a completely different kind of car than we did. Where we had loud, raw-boned mechanical monsters that demanded a driver's full attention, they're growing up with disposable appliances that are designed to insulate the user from the outside world as much as possible. Even modern sports cars have so many electronic nannies in them that you're barely feeling what it's capable of when you drive them anymore.

Jeremy Clarkson has said more than once that car enthusiasts are a dying breed, and unfortunately he's right. But it's not so much a lack of interest as it is the global perspective and demand for what a car is has changed, and you can't just undo all that for the sake of "how it used to be was better".

The narrative that gt7 is a flop is 🦬💩.
Gt7 always sold well.
Imagine if GT7 was a combination of GT4 and GT6 with course maker deep gameplay and online that rocks!!!!
Would be great but it would take too much time to implement that many cars in game,
Even the new forza looks to be cutting down on the number of cars (from over 700 in fm7 to over 500 in next fm).
Takes too much time to implement cars with that level of detail.
