There are so many which have zero use in single player events.

Yep, there's usually something extra with every update. Some updates might not have much extra, but to conclude that this update is just cars is premature.

Just give me Sophy as permanent events now, it doesn't have to replace the AI everywhere, just let it be an option for some events. Delete the 30+second headstart, replace it with grid start and you can now have your race with Sophy in any of the events we have.
But if PD adds new events (maybe with some new theme), I wouldn't mind that, with Sophy of course.

I personally don't need events as long as the AI remains as bad as it has been since launch, might as well be racing on your own with a few obstacles here and there. I spend almost all of my time in time trials so new cars and tracks is all I need.

Why not both? Hopefully you get your events and further down the line if you feel like driving these cars at anytime you can and vice versa. Why does one have to impact the possibility of the other appearing? More cars or any new free content can only be good thing, regardless. The game will still be better for it, you cannot deny that.
