PD have a history of being perfectionists, so the current launch window probably relies greatly on their ability to make the game stable ahead of the release. We really don’t know how close GT7 currently is to matching their quality standards.

On a similar note, the recent screenshots of the main menu looked quite unfinished. Almost like an early-stage sketch lacking refinement. One can only imagine how many loose ends they may be dealing with.
Sure, but so far we didn't see a specific problem that could delay the game.

Btw, which screenshots? The ones I remember being "unfinished" were from last week's "collection" vídeo, where they were apparently using older footage of an older build (where the weight units were in lbs instead of kg).

The rate in which trailers and info have been coming out suggests to me a game that's pretty much ready to actually meet its date, something that many people will forget has actually happened 3 previous times (Gran Turismo 1, Gran Turismo 2 and Gran Turismo 6).

Did GT1 had any trailer at all before launch?

If there was to be a delay it most likely come down to a performance issue on the PS4 with dynamic time/weather side of things, but with every release I never put full expectations on the release date.

GT5's long five-year wait is still living rent-free inside of everyone's heads, I see.

Anyway, since they're in full marketing mode now, I wonder when is the third major cinematic trailer?
More importantly. when does the press, like GTPlanet, get to try out an early access?

We used to get demo discs in the PlayStation magazines. No need for trailers. ;)
Indeed, I didn’t even have an internet connection in 1998. It was demo disks, the occasional magazine with a VHS cassette stuck to the cover containing a load of trailers usually after a major game show and TV adverts.

That doesn’t mean an on-time release can’t happen again though.

Sport had to be made completely from the ground up, so yeah, it getting delayed wasn’t surprising. GT7 however is using Sport as its foundation, just like GT6 used GT5.

I’m not saying a second delay is totally impossible, but I don’t see a good reason why it would be likely. We’ve been getting surprisingly regular info about the game since the September trailer. Things seem to be going smoothly.

Gt2 was delayed in Europe. I remember like it was yesterday.

A friend of mine borrowed me a Japanese version of the game to fill the wait (a couple of months if I remember correctly)

What surprises me the most is that Gran Turismo 7 is now on track to be released 6 months before Avatar 2.

It really wasn't that long a wait if you consider that GT5 Prologue - arguably the best GT ever - was out in late 2007!

Gran Turismo 6 is a funny one, because while it technically came out more or less on time it was very much not finished when it did. At release GT5 Spec II was arguably more fully featured, and from memory it took a couple of years before Polyphony finally patched in all the features that they'd advertised at release. I think that given the option many people would prefer delays to another launch like GT6.

Either way, GT7 is never going to be in that group of games because it's already had one delay.

New trailer up, with a better view of the Alpine A220. I have to say, it looks even better up close.

When exactly? As far as I can tell, that trailer from September is the first and only official release date its had and it hasn't changed so far.

My guess was how it was planned for late 2020/early 2021 in the PS5 launch show.
