If they're gonna do that wait for the Gen3 cars because I do not want that hideous COTF Mustang in the game.
Exactly the reason I posted that year of Albert Park. Even though the E63 and Altima underperformed, compared to the S60, I feel it was one of the best eras of the series.

Changing the oil may make sense if PD have upped the damage model.
Say the car condition below

We don’t know how it works at the moment. How long between oil changes? Does oil require changing even if I never Use a car? Are wear and damage separate? What is the “Caution” icon for? Other parts that need replacing?: brakes? Body damage? worn tyres?
Does smashing into walls carry over post race or do I just enter the pits to restore the car?

If Daily Workout is the same 42kms, how long until an engine overhaul? I don’t know if driving a car easier or harder, will affect engine performance. Maybe it’s distance, rather than time.

Will adding performance parts shorten engine life?

There are car covers over vehicles in the trailer.

Could be a way to protect the body over time or a favourite car or a gift car unwrapped.
I think you're overthinking it. Don't really expect things to change much from GT5/6.

If you haven’t noticed my posts in the past 9 years, I like to dream. I‘m 50 years old and GT is a dream come true since I was little, playing with Match Box cars and AFX slot cars. I dream what could be and sometimes try to think how PD think. I don’t jump up and down in anger, if my wishes aren’t in the GT games. I do, however, think what could be immersive improvements to the games.

If oil change means no difference to what we’ve had in previous games, then it is what is.

Maybe redundant, buts again is whait it is.

Its not a limited by licensing, its just PD and they incompetence. They already have a good damage model
in some rally cars in 2010.

I played a lot GT Sport and the IA looks better, is not the best already, but seems they work on it

Oh my god what did you dust off, I'm the one driving !!! 🤣🤣🤣
I remember that the first day I went home as soon as I bought the game, everyone said there was no damage, and after 5 minutes back and forth against the walls, I managed to destroy the car and made the video to show it to everyone ... what memories 🥰
Below the original video:

In fact, hardcore damage models can be a deterrent to ramming, because one single failed ramming attempt and your car is destroyed, and you're not bothering anyone else for the rest of that race.
You could make it a further deterrent by making race damage permanent, insomuch as needing to spend in-game credits to fix the car; as long as you weren't stuck with a broken car and no means to generate the income to fix it. It may also be that marques only allow their vehicles in-game as long as they don't get damaged. The world of licensing is full of such joys.

Curious... I don't do that either... Is it because of age? ;)(54 here).
I'd like to think my 50 years have given me a stoic wisdom that elevates me above such things, rather than the more likely explanation that I just haven't the energy.

I find this would be taking things excessively in the opposite direction. There's that point at which some realism has to be ignored in order for a game to be a game, and not just a simulation.

Re: damage
I like how it works in the WRC games, but it is annoying having to spend money fixing a car after every race. If GT does try to incorporate accurate damage id expect many would still play with the damage off

I’m down for it! It would be nice just to have an option as you said to turn off or on. I have a small group of friends in which we run a damage system keeps us all in serious line. Makes the drive more exciting because of the accountability you have as an owner to your car.

Just throwing this out there, but at this point I'm not sure if the hype for GT7 quite matches GT5's. What do you guys think?

I would say that's a safe bet considering the massive gap there was between its release and GT4 (which saw not one but 2 playable demos along with the constant "Will they or won't they" nature of the release date). Granted that year gap is roughly the same but at least GT Sport was during a time where free updates are a thing so there was something to at least keep the game fresh until the eventual announcement, whereas that wasn't the case then for obvious reasons.

I'm currently in two minds about this game and I don't really know what to think. On one hand I want to stick with the game because it's something that I've liked for many years and looks to deliver on a lot of things, whilst on the other I want to leave it alone and make Assetto Corsa my go-to racing game because of the driving experience. But that alone is not enough to keep me entertained because it doesn't provide the car ownership experience that I loved soo much in GT3 and GT4. I really enjoy league racing in ACC but it can be quite full on and I need to take a break from that, however I fear that I'd struggle too much with GT's stupid physics to actually enjoy it. All I want is a solid game that does everything well in the way I expect. Everything else is a bonus.

complaints aside, good to see GT7 is attracting an extremely diverse set of players. Gt sport made half-hearted attempts to cater to 90% of gran turismos fanbase and lets be honest, It didn't work.
