OO

Oh i remember the standard debacle,it felt like GT was way more in the spotlight back then,so it felt like everyone was talking about the delays and the standard models and eventually the vacuum sounds meme.
But my god if GT7 debacle is the quiet one around here 😂
Biggest controversy GT7 has thrown our way so far has been the trees.

I got to say, pretty awesome that GT will be getting its own State of Play. We are very lucky to be getting such a large preview, before release.

As far as I've seen, only a handful of games of even got one all to itself. Demons Souls had its own less than a week before the PS5 release, then Horizon Forbidden West had one last May, and now GT is about to have one a month before its release.

The most shocking part, is that the presentation is advertised as being over 30 MINUTES long. That's crazy, longer than most normal 'State of Play' event dedicated to just small trailers. The longest so far prior to this dedicated to a single game, was Demon's Souls at 12 minutes... but that was edited a decent bit. I'm gonna predict this will be a prerecorded, mostly unedited 'walkthrough' with Kazunori himself and subtitles.

Anyone here was around the GT Sport pre launch speculation? Was it this "heated" ? GTS had even less content so i can't imagine it was all happy vibes 😂
I'd say GT5 was still THE most heated. I can't remember a time where more threads were locked, posts were deleted and bans were handed out.
My take on thw AI situation : (I even replecated the videos provided)
Mercedes W08
Audi R18 TDI
Please ignore the driving line (Vision issues) and i used replay for the final lap with the Mercedes because i completed it an hour after the first 3 (Thats why its so terrible).

Funny enough I also replicated the video with the F1s and every time on the straight, the AI never once attempted to cover the inside.

I'm already on the train but Tuesday will determine how hard i ride. As @DefNotJake says, 30 mins seems like there's a lot to show. Looking forward to it!

Key word 'seems'.

I'm really hoping large chunks of that time isn't filled out by a translator translating for Kazunori, and/or marketing mumbo jumbo while not showing gameplay... actually to be honest, that all sounds really believable.

There hasn't been a proper Gran Turismo for almost 9 years, show should be over an hour if you ask me. GT is still is their biggest franchise, it deserves its own event. There's really nothing crazy about it.

This isn't a PD in-house production, it's a Sony State of Play, so they're not going to mess around with translations and dead air. It'll be one of the Sony bods talking, or Kaz with subs. They want these things to be slick and engaging.

I can't remember the last time a GT game got this much time to shine at any point so its gonna be interesting to see what will be shown, it's clearly far more time then any of the "Find you line" videos we saw so surely plenty of time to go in-depth.

I have work as soon as the State of Play airs so I'm in for a long night catching up afterwards lol

I keep seeing people post about the GT instagram posts, latest ones being the NSX+tuning menu.

They're reposts of images from the website that have been up since September. This stuff isn't new?
As someone who has checked the forums practically every single day since the GT7 trailer aired, I have come to the realization most people are part time fans, who actually have lives lol. Not as up to date on what is and is not in the game.

Half an hour is ample time to give a full run-down of the game - it will just depend how much PD focus on irrelevant technical details. If they go down the GT6 route of talking up Adaptive Tesselation then you know there's not much to spruik.

I doubt they'll do that, they went far enough in depth with the Behind The Scenes videos.

I would guess and hope they would show all the various items on the GT7 menu and treat the various features of the game in some depth.

Some might not like it, but I hope a large majority of that 30 minute is an in-depth menu tour showing off everything thats new and/or improved with no edits or cuts. Especially if they did a quick dive into open lobby settings, where they could also show off all the dynamic weather settings and explain whats possible, and whats not.

Citation massively needed.
What makes you think that GT isn't their biggest franchise? GT has been consistent since PS1, it's still selling a lot of copies, still popular maybe not so much with zoomers, Gran Turismo has a huge but silent fanbase . Yeah, I know those Netflix cinematic walking simulators are popular lately but doesn't change the fact that GT still one of the reason to own a PlayStation.

I’d say what we’ve seen of the AI is more concerning than the trees, which look fine to me by the way.
Most concerning? Definitely the AI.

Most controversy on this forum? Definitely the trees.

(But Tbh I feel like most people are in agreeance on the state if the AI known so far, there’s just a character or two who’ve been making that topic tumultuous lately)

There's a big budget Uncharted movie, an HBO series based on The Last of Us, God of War is massive, Horizon is off to a great start and they own the rights to Spider Man. GT is certainly still king of the racing game realm, but it's not even close when looking at the big picture.
