Getting duplicates now in GT7 is actually better now. You can spend countless hours giving them special liveries and bodykits for you to use them in custom one make races. Also, duplicates that you earn from rewards can be used as test beds for builds, or probably be used as stock cars. And obviously you can get rid of the dupes if you don't want them.
You're right about this. You'll want to keep making more and more project cars, much like what I always do in past Gran Turismo games, and even Forza, but a 1,000-car garage limit just hinders this idea, sadly. Say, that out of the 424 cars in the game (and still many more yet to come in updates), these duplicates will take up a lot of space, and sadly, Polyphony will have to update the garage limit to an even larger number. This was also the problem with Forza nowadays.
If all cars are made available in the Arcade Mode, the thrill of collecting disappears. And the fact that performance degradation exists in the game is part of the charm in car collection. You get the car, run it, and then maintain it - just like real life.
No it wouldn't, if the idea of eventually having all the cars available in the Arcade Modes as rental cars would be similar to GT4. You start off with a handful (GT4's reach was extensive, by 240 cars, roughly a third of the total car count), then you
unlock all the rest from collecting and obtaining cars in many different ways in the career mode.
And with all of them as rental cars, you shouldn't have to worry about their performance degrading (such as needing an oil change, engine overhaul, or a restoration of body rigidity). But you are limited to car-specific default colors and liveries, as well as set-up tuning, in which it wouldn't be in full as compared to buying them in the career mode, because they're rental vehicles. They should also disable earning credits and Daily Workout progress driving them, given that fact.
But of course, they shouldn't forget the option to use our Garage cars too, because, well, besides every car in the game at your disposal, you'll want to use your project cars as well, so that the possibilities are endless.
Also, casual players will surely enjoy the GT mode. If they're just going to be stuck in Arcade Mode, the fun dies, in an instant. They bought the game because car collecting and racing can be appealing to them, especially if they work hard on it.
Well didn't I say they should go to the GT4 method of where, if you buy or obtain a car at least once, it should be permanently unlocked as a rental car in the Arcade Modes with all its default colors/liveries available for use? And yes, of course the campaign mode is the meat of the game, as you have to play through it to unlock everything, from all the tracks to the features, but this should also include the cars as well.
Not just in your own garage, but also in the Arcade Modes, if some players only want to play casually. But that being said, you still have to work around the campaign mode to get all of that, so you still have to play in the campaign mode.
And if they will put up with mediocre AI, they'll realize it sooner or later. GT appeals to casuals, and said casuals actually improve on their skills over time. Sophy will be an exciting new addition in the future. The AI is one of the biggest problems of the game at the moment. Sophy can either make or break it.
Having seen what GT Sophy can do, this type of AI could make races extremely hard to win if weaponized against the player in the campaign mode. Hopefully it will be an option, but other than that,
Giving a limited number of cars in Arcade Mode is fine as it is.
It was never fine. GT4 had arguably the best Arcade Mode car selection in the series, simply because in theory, like I said earlier, you can have all the cars in the game available there once you've collected a majority of the cars at least once, but you start off with at least a sizeable portion of the car list, as mentioned before.
Having been used to playing Forza for years, and watched a lot of GT4 videos, as well as played it very late, that's where I came to this realization, especially with every succeeding game, where GT5 only had 50 rental cars, no cars ever get unlocked, and it gets worse in GT6 with only 20, and GT Sport with only eight. Not being able to unlock all the rest just really makes it dull and lifeless.
A less than stellar performance of an AI will ruin the immersion.
Too challenging, and it could cause a problem for many players. It's as if the people here are all requesting for an AI that's extremely difficult to beat, and mark my words when GT Sophy arrives in the game and frustrates you.
