I know it's a minor thing for most, but I have yet to see a video or review showing animals in the background. The monkey and lake monster at Trial Mountain have became kind of a symbol of PDs attention to detail and lore over the years, the birds in the old games while not modeled the best were still cool, and Jenkins became known because of GTPlanet. I hope it was just a case of not noticing animals and not that there aren't any.
Hope, GT never dies, it gives me the feeling of racing games from my childhood, what other "hipster" games from nowadays cant give anymore.

In the SuperGT review he clearly talks about grid starts in the career mode and how he prefers those. He also shows a settings menu where you can change the start setup.

I'm a bit confused by this... Does it mean that we can make every race a grid start?

The real day one day going live?

Which reminds me - what's the credit limit? Is it 100m? Or is it reverted to 20m?

I don't think we know, but I'd really like to know. It would only make sense to leave it at 100M but it's going to be quite some time to fine out whether or not it's capped to 20M again.

Do we still need to change the oil for a HP boost after buying a car? Serious though
The dude on stream did an oil change and it did not change the PP of the car when he did it. It was a brand new car, so maybe there is a different value with used cars, or just cars in general.

The career races are designed rolling or grid, and the custom races or online lobbies can be changed to grid or rolling.

As someone who owns one it is the least impressive console jump graphically. The UI and loading times are the amazing next generation features but yeah the graphics really aren't significantly better.
Problem ist, that nearly all PS5-games from end of 2020 and 2022 will be cross-gen.
I think, 2023 upwards we will see the real "only next gen games" with next-gen-graphics, when the last generation gets fallen. Often, the games got better in more lifecycle.

Which is something console Devs and game Devs said would be the case. The days of PS1 to PS2, GT2 to GT3 graphical leaps are gone. Think about how many games last gen could run 4k60, not many, that's the biggest change visually really, even ray tracing won't fully take off until the tech can be understood in all its intricacies.

No console from here on out will have those graphical leaps we saw in the relative infancy of the medium. Refinements such as loading times, matching highest resolution with highest framerates, innovation that can come from either or both of those things, that's where the real development is.

And the controller for me on PS5, makes the Xbox pad feel dead and ancient. But that's a very specific point.

The graphics modes don't affect gameplay at all. RT mode is RT on in replays at 30fps, performance mode is RT off in replays at 60fps.

I don't know if the modes affect RT in menu screens, but they don't affect gameplay at all.

Eks
I couldn't find it explicitly mentioned myself, but that is the logical assumption. No doubt Digital Foundry at least would've mentioned it if RT mode caps the framerate at 30fps in races, as that would be perhaps the most significant downgrade to the GT experience.

With how heavily implied the presence of engine swaps were, and because no one has found it elsewhere, tucking it in the roulette system is an interesting possibility. Maybe a way for PD to increase player retention since it's obvious that people want it. "Want engine swaps? Play more and rack up those roulettes" sort of thing.

I haven't kept up with any streams or reviews (outside of Jordan's and Digital Foundry's), so I have no idea if the tuning menu/GT Auto options paint a clearer picture as to whether or not this could be the case.
Thank you, would seem there is no point to turn RT off then, unless you wanted 60fps in replays.

I'm sure I saw a review say RT is applied to cars everywhere but a race. So menus, scapes, liveries etc I think.

Correct, all the in menu cut scenes, showrooms, photo modes all have RT enabled. It is literally just the actual driving gameplay which doesn't have it.

I'll have it on, the DF analysis showed me enough that it's worth keeping on.

Not sure if this has been brought up yet, but after seeing the trophy list on PSNProfiles I noticed that the PS4 version has a seperate trophy list for three different regions (Europe, North America and Asia) while the PS5 has one universal list for all regions. This means that you can earn the Platinum Trophy for GT7 four times.

Just putting it out there.

I’m yet to see any gameplay where the player grasps the benefit of making smooth steering inputs. Everyone seems to tap the directional stick repeatedly, and as a result the car suspension bounces all over the place. Hurts my soul.

This is one of the reasons why GTs support of the gamepad’s motion sensor is great. It promotes smooth inputs in the same way a wheel does. Takes an hour or two to get the hang of, but highly recommended in the long term.

Also, remember that you can just sell cars in Forza if you don't want them or you'd rather have that prize as "cash". You know, the way we all played GT4. GT7 doesn't even let you delete cars unless you have more than one.

This is absolutely horrific news if true. Why? Why would they force you to keep cars you don’t want or like? So the garage isn’t really ‘yours’, you’re just storing cars you have to store. In past games, even GTS, ‘my’ garage is mine to control, my stamp on it, no unwanted clutter. Why on earth would they do this? I’ll end up hating certain cars/makers even more if I have to keep looking at them in ‘my’ garage.

I’ve no problem with temporarily owning any car if it’s necessary for a race or mission, but I wanna be able to dump it if it doesn’t fit in with my tastes. Enforced collecting is ok, enforced permanent ownership isn’t. How the hell is this supposed to be anything like real life? It’s Pokemon world stuff.

Seriously. PD need to explain.

Has anyone seen a better / clear description of the graphics modes?

I know one uses Ray tracing in replays etc. But will that still run at 60 fps in races (as RT is off).

Or will only performance mode hit 60fps? And not use RT at all.

Seems if RT is only out of race, RT mode should be exactly the same as performance when in race?
60fps driving in both.

30fps replays with ray-tracing in Ray-tracing mode.

60fps replays with no ray-tracing in the other mode.

Is raytracing really disabled in Scapes if the performance option is turned on? Cause it makes no sense. Why would they make an option that performance-wise only affects replays but it still affects other part of the game where performance isn’t a problem?
