Because of course this private chat of privileged users/streamers care enough to report bugs such as incorrect wheel colours in Kei Car Cup thumbnails.
Everything is reported including graphical bugs. Tidgney, Kie25 and others all submitted multiple reports weeks ago. And are aware the bigger network issues are being worked on.

You can watch Tidgney’s video where he details how comprehensive the reports are. Around 9 minutes in.

Or Kie’s stream from last night. Where he touches on the reporting process and his involvement.

PD’s failing has always been communication. That’s a trait of many Japanese companies who won’t comment until something is official.

Is this a bug?
I dare PD to do that.

Recipe for the bestest GT everrrr
step 1: remove events
step 2: remove the ability to sell cars
step 3: cut in half the already outrageous rewards
step 4: remove cars
🤷‍♂️

Brand Central data is server-based, per @ddm:

However I don't believe they have any intention to use the limited stock/sold out flag on Brand Central; I guess the car sales code is/flags are universal between BC, UCD, and LCD.

So were these the people involved in beta testing? If so, why the mess at launch, and why’s it still so bad now? If not, who was, and why did they miss so much? Was it tested pre-release at all? Who greenlighted releasing a buggy unfinished game at full price only to be piecemeal remedied over months and months post-release with the help of a ragtag bunch of (unpaid?) volunteers/fans? Looks like Sony’s gone down the pan and round the u-bend...

Maybe I'm late to this, but I think I see why car washing seems like such a useless feature.

It... technically does something.

The detailed settings in photo mode allows you to turn on various damage and dirt settings. Specifically for dirt, there's dust, oil stains, tire dirt, and brake dust. All of these can be set to "small", "normal", or "large" (which doesn't really make sense for the setting names, but let's move on).

At most, racing applies "small" dust. Nothing else. No oil stains, no further dust, nothing. The "small" dust setting barely looks like anything, so it's hard to even notice a difference before and after washing. The only noticeable effect is that reflections will be slightly blurrier.

I don't know if it's a bug, or if it's intended, but the car stays pretty much spotless despite the dirt graphics and a system for applying dirt to the car existing.

Maybe it's just absurdly slow? People who did the Tomahawk grind or run AFK scripts can probably answer whether their car looks any dirtier than it did when they bought it.

The whole car washing/dirtying system is still a complete enigma to me. I genuinely think it's just a completely unfinished feature that isn't fully implemented.

Absolutely none of the "dirtying" that appears in race photos can actually appear in the race (aside from the small dust, like you said) - yet its inclusion in the race photos suggests that it's supposed to.

It's a shame, truly a massively wasted feature because doing an endurance race and coming to the end with a dirty car covered in oil, dust and grime would really add a touch of satisfaction to completing them.

Maybe one day they will patch it out and include such a feature

I'm most likely going to get laugh and poo reactions for this, but... if the devs do read this forum, then I can't imagine what they must be feeling when they read some of these honestly really brutal takes here. Especially when people speculate about their inner workings and Kaz himself.

It's probably one reason why they don't engage/Sony restricts communication. Imagine one of them raging directly at one of these brutal takes. =/

As a software developer of anything public facing you generally need a pretty thick skin. You always know that people are not going to like some of your work, and you're always going to be under scrutiny from those who think they know better. Who think that what you're doing is easy. Social media is full of the worst of the worst people yet developers do still read and interact with the ones who are respectful enough.

Sometimes people do take things too far, death threats, sexual harrasment, etc etc, but I've not seen anything on that level here. Most of it is stuff people should be able to deal with or at least just pass over if all they're looking for is helpful feedback and ideas. Kaz is really the only person who people usually mention by name because the rest of the team are unknown by name.

Speaking from personal experience here, BTW.

I just went to buy a ferrari (in the game). They took the credits, offered congratulations and told me it will be delivered to my garage in 2 years. long waiting list it seems. Just like real life iirc.

Reflections fade with use. Car wash restores reflections to max value.

They don’t care to make us happy. That much is evident.

If the devs read this forum I’d like them to ask themselves if they think anyone other than a sadist could design the roulette system we’ve had for the past three months. Long enough to judge it. Somebody (or some people) at PD thought it a good idea to continually, daily, dangle good prizes in front of us, but reward us with the lowest prize (2000, 5000 or 10000 cr) almost every time. Even when you win 5000 (1/8 the cost of a set of RS tyres, woo hoo) the lower 2000 is never on the wheel. No, it dangles good stuff, awards crap. Why annoy your ‘customers’ like that, day after day after day? Why not just ditch the roulette and have a pop up saying ‘Thanks for completing the marathon, here’s your reward today - 5000 cr’? Still painful, but less of a feeling the devs are extracting the urine. This is just one example.

There’s very little that’s ‘feel good’ about this game, very little to suggest the devs really want people to enjoy it, to play with a smile. Tbh, it’s increasingly giving me the feeling they might hold us in contempt. People to have a laugh at.

If they did read this forum I’d hope they’d get a wake up call and get back to making the game fun.

Thick skin is typically required, but plenty of devs have social media teams who would normally handle this type of thing. With Sony, it's not specific to PD, but they tend to hold a tight grip on the comms for all of thier studios.

But sure, the thought that a dev could start getting into it with forum members is probably a potential issue Sony have considered, and I've seen it happen with other studio's and it rarely looks good for the developer when that happens.

There's very much a happy middle ground where a social media team handle the direct communication on forums and social media platforms and they tend to be trained not to take comments personally and they aren't directly involved in the development of the game beyond assessing and reporting feedback etc.

GTPlanet... the site that asks for community managers...

Long story short, someone at Polyphony needs a smack in the mother****in mouth. This is ridiculous, outrageous behaviour.

GTPlanet... where all criticism is reasonable if it's within the AUP.

When Playground Games announced their new liaison, they chose to do it on r/forza, where the community is far more supportive of them, than on their own forums, where people like our resident poo poo guy hang out to crap on them.

Many studios don't have communication with the forums because they just can't be arsed anymore. Why would they? And they have a point. The market supports their work. Better to plan content based on metrics than on what a bunch of nutjobs say on the internet.

And not just in gaming. You'd believe the BMW M3 was a flop because of the beaver teeth, but the car's been selling well regardless: https://www.bmwblog.com/2022/01/13/bmw-m-record-sales-2021/. Most internet complainers don't even own a BMW and will never own one. Who would BMW rather listen to, the angry American boomer who complains they don't make cars like the E36 M3 anymore or the Chinese businessman who would happily buy the latest and best from Munich?

There's so much talk about metaverse being "the future"... well, the metaverse is NOW. It's whatever warped fictional reality internet dwellers like us have created for ourselves, completely disconnected from the actual reality.

Boy, love completely misgendering someone in order to make a terrible point.

Once more you completely avoid that a whole swack of people outside of this forum are criticizing the game, once again correctly, for the lack of content it provides, the problems that it has (and that Polyphony are either ignoring fixing, or taking their gingerly time with trying to fix) and the fact that much of the game is wrapped up in a monetization loop that is absolutely bat**** untenable to most people considering the type of game GT7 is. And in fact, you can make the case that said criticisms are more mean then anything else said on this forum.

lmao is this really the best you can come up with in terms of a rebuttal

It's whatever warped fictional reality internet dwellers like us have created for ourselves, completely disconnected from the actual reality.
Boy, it's sure weird then that the game was changed at the start of its life, when people rightly criticized the game for lacking in content, and most importantly, actively nerfing grind tactics in order to force people into micro-transactions. And that Kaz wrote a (frankly, pithy) letter to the community in response to said firestorm of correct criticism.

You scream up and down that metrics matter more, that GT is a casual game, well that doesn't at all take away from the fact that casual players only play a game for a short amount of time before moving to something else. And for all intents and purposes, Polyphony has done a terrible job of convincing said casual players to even buy into the game considering the lack of worthwhile content to stick around with in the next six months and in the now, and they're doing an even worse convincing the actual hardcore base of the game, including streamers, GT World Tour drivers (some of whom they courted for advice and made AI opponents) and places like this, and social media, to stick around if the problems with the game, both in the micro, current, and macro, long term sense, aren't being even acknowledged or fixed, and if they are, they're either being fixed way too slowly and helping bleed players, or were only said to get the heat off Polyphony's back and that they have no set time table in terms of fulfilling, if they ever do.

There is an easy solution to all of this. Well, not quite, but it helps:. just pretend we're beta testing the game. I have no doubt that things will get better, and I'm just as peeved about the lack of communication, but there is a high probability that Sony needed the game to come out at the end of their fiscal year (it might explain the release only two weeks after Horizon Forbidden West) and, put simply, the game is still a work in progress.

We saw the letter to the World Tour driver, we heard Kaz' plan to BoP with Sophy (bs or not), and I do believe we were told there will be seasonal events. Also, the joke of a "known issues" list that never changes.

I just hope the people at PD have their heads down and are working on all these things.
