Well they’ve just released the update trailer so make of that if you will:
  • Catalunya (No Chicane Layout/National Layout/Rallycross Layout)
  • McLaren MP4/4 ‘88
  • Pontiac GTO “The Judge” ‘69
  • Porsche Cayman GT4 ‘16

I apologise if this isn’t the actual thread to post this…

Eh... Not quite what I expected, but that rallycross circuit might be fun to drive on. I'm more into the patch notes though!

There’s a world of difference between a high cost, specialist product, like iRacing. And a mass market title such as Gran Turismo. To this day it’s near impossible to find clean racing on public lobbies with console racing titles.

I’m sure even the most outlandish ideas have been tried in one title or another. What matters is the outcomes for the player. Whether that’s through PD’s penalty system & messaging. Or the community policing itself.
Right, but that's what distinguishes innovation from just adding features to a game. Adding good features from a niche product into a mass market product isn't innovation, it's just being sensible.

GTS taking the iRacing safety/speed rating system and mildly tweaking it wasn't innovative, it was a sensible idea that several other games also did before them. Just because they rolled it out to a lot of people doesn't make it innovative, it just makes it widespread.

It baffles me that apparently so many people seem to think "innovation" = "whatever I think is good". It has a specific meaning that is particularly relevant to development. Misusing it doesn't help anyone.

P.S. If you read the posts on GTP, you could easily come to the conclusion that for a lot of people it's near impossible to find clean racing on GTS/GT7 as well. Even penalty/safety systems aren't a foolproof defence against human nature.
Likewise with AI learning. Milestone’s system manages the pace of riders. With strange braking points and speeds at different difficulty levels to hit a certain time.

That’s not of interest to me. Same with Sony/PD boasting about Sophy AI beating top players times. Where it gets interesting is racing in a realistic manner and the possibility to scale performance levels without the need for rubber banding.
Various forms of adaptive AI have been around for years. Rubber banding has been around since GT1, which is why Polyphony got mocked for keeping it around for so long.

When Sony AI manage to use ML AI to scale performance levels reliably to a set pace and still have good racecraft, that will be interesting. Depending on how they do it, it might be innovative. If Polyphony then manage to implement that in a game on consumer hardware, that could also be innovative.

At the moment you're talking about things that haven't been done yet as if they're completed projects.

What a dissapointment the track...

Leave it to PD to find new and exciting ways to disappoint. More Rally wasn’t even on my list.

I refuse to believe that there is a single person ad PD that thinks their take on Rally is good or worth anybodys time.

More of the worst GT7 has to offer. Thanks PD.

The new cayman looks fun to drive but I cannot imagine the events associated with these new layouts will be much fun for me. This feels like the most lackluster update yet.

They can add 10 layout of that, but that doenst't chance anything that it's a bad joke as content update.

Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya GP Layout No Chicane
Total Length: 4,730m, Elevation Change: 30m, Number of corners: 14, Longest Straight: 1,047m

Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya National Layout
Total Length: 2,977m, Elevation Change: 28m, Number of corners: 11, Longest Straight: 862m

Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya Rallycross Layout
Total Length: 1,133m, Elevation Change: 11m, Number of corners: 11, Longest Straight: 148m

I guess I'm the only one here who likes the addition of a proper Rallycross track.
With GT's loose surface physics and a lack of Rallycross structure it's strongly arguable that it's a waste. I suspect it's not going to actually be accurate, as it will either be with or without the Joker section, rather than actually making correct use of it in Rallycross events.

When they added the "big-4" grind events, was it known prior to the actual update? As in the same manner that these notes were released the day before the update? I want to so badly hope that when they do the update there will be some new grind events.

People complain about selling cars all day and yet there's still no willingness to, like, file a false advertising class-action lawsuit about it, considering it was on the PS Store page?
*Assuming it does not arrive in this update.
