Porsche VGT Spyder is the closest thing to God mode this game has for Road Cars. Unbeatable. Run a Hypercar event with it. Zero challange.

General question do you test drive every car you either buy or received as a gift?
I take most cars for a lap or two to circuit de la sarthe (without chicanes) to see how the car handles & what top speed I can get without tuning when I get them or when physics changes are mentioned in the changelogs/patch notes

If Lewis is still playing the game can’t be that bad.
Interesting view. I don't think Hamilton should be the barometer for everyone else, nor should you, me or any other single person be that either.

It depends what "can't be that bad" is referring to I suppose. The physics aren't that bad, they aren't the best, but they're still good despite the odd quirk here and there. Graphics are mostly great. Single player career is poor IMO. Online, I couldn't tell you, it could be great for people that like to play online. I don't unfortuantely.

We want more championships

We need to make a priority list for Kaz and PD, so they know what to work on first:

More championships, more cars, more tracks, full game VR, more Music Rallies (ok, that’s just me), more daily races, more engine swaps, etc etc.

So which is most important?

Publicity stunt or just telling a story about playing a game during the holidays. I guess your POV varies, if you constantly moan about the game you probably would think everything is a stunt.

In other news:

Nice, hopefully this means we'll see the SF23 and some official events for it in March or April. Preferably full or half-length events unlike the ones in GT Sport.

It was kind of bizzare for the other cars though....
To be honest i prefer it the way it is in GT7 just forget about damage model... xD

I know I do every car in my garage has as least 1 lap under its wheels.
I intend to, still have a lot of cars that I bought but haven't tested yet. Maybe soon when I have the mood to log in again.

No, I'm only really interested in driving race cars and we tend to get very few of those as gift. While GT is the Real Driving Simulator, racing road cars always seemed a bit odd to me.

The trouble with the brilliant race cars which are in the game, is that there are very few places to actually use them with the current roster of single player events...

…but but racing road cars been a thing since the beginning of the automobile. Grassroots motorsports are very alive. Those that can jump straight into a race car, without having first raced a road car, more power to them. However, many people that want to race, don’t have such opportunities.
s game, it mimics some aspects of that culture: buying your personal car and fixing it up to race. Then, there’s the racing culture of purpose built cars for the track.

I’m Not saying you can’t feel a way about things, but it is odd for an enthusiast to say it’s odd to race road cars. No disrespect.

I fully appreciate the aspirational side of road racing and grass roots. And I've nothing against racing cars which aren't the fastest things around. The humble MX-5 is one of the best cars ever and the racing version of it is brilliant too.

In my experience, prepping a road car for a race inherently changes it. Road cars were designed for a specific purpose, and within the limitations of legal road use. When you start adding more power, making it handle better, you're taking it outside of its designed parameters, your average family car wasn't designed to be driven at the revv limit all day long and nor should it.

When pushing them to the raggedy edge on track, I'm often left with a feeling of missed potential. Of how much better this car could be if it was a purpose built race car, from the ground up, not a compromise.

I imagine that a sports car feels great to drive on the road, and going on a track day allows you to explore more of the car's capabilities. But if you want to maximize that experience of driving on a track, use something that was designed for it.

That's why I prefer to drive bespoke racing machines on a race track. There's a time and place to race, and for me, it ain't in a road car on a track. For clarity, it's ain't in a road car on a road either lol

It seems like Gran Turismo might not be your kind of game then, @Vitesh Patel

Gran Turismo focuses more on road cars than racing cars, and making a race car out of a road car has been a staple gameplay feature since series inception.

While you're entitled to your opinion, I've loved every GT game since GT3 (I didn't have a PS1) and I've loved it for the race cars and events I could use in them.

I think it just comes down to everyone definition of what makes a race car. It ranges from everything from taping a cross on the headlights and painting a roundel on the side, to a full race conversion, replacing ever component and adding plenty of 'go faster' parts.

I would be wary of telling people that GT may not be a game for them. It can lead people to feel excluded from the conversation and potentially a community of GT players.

I understand PD's take on the natural progression of such things.

Start with your street car in club events.
Hot it up and enter higher tiers.
Win enough and you eventually find yourself in a real race car.

As in reality, it's a whole lot easier to purchase and hot up a street car than it is to earn a seat in the real deal. The game reflects this by making it harder to earn enough credits to buy a "proper" racing car and of course trickier-to-acquire licences are required to enter top-tier events.

Makes sense to me.

November 2022: added car-selling feature

Me: Finally, I can sell this useless Willys for money!

December 2022 : added the ability to Hellcat-swap the Willys

Me, who already sold the Willys and has a buttload of Hellcat engines: :grumpy:
