It's not a 400Z. Not sure how everyone got to calling it that when the Z car has always, since the very beginning, been named after the displacement of the engine. Not the horsepower. So the current Z, if people want to make up a name for it, would be more accurate as a 300Z.

From what I remember the Q50 is dead
Doesn't mean it can't be added.

Feels like if you want ANYTHING remotely BTCC associated
Doesn't have to be BTCC. Super Touring was a global category.

Except that's NOT why I called it that? I just went off the previous naming conventions, its not that deep.

It could, but I don't see alot of people exactly clamoring for it (or for ANY Infiniti for that matter). As I said, I don't exactly see a massive desire for Infiniti beyond what was already included here or any other game for that matter.

While indeed it was, I get the feeling far more people are interested in the Ford Mondeos and Nissan Primeras and Audi A4s then they are of say, the Dodge Stratus:

Likewise, I think more people would want the Honda Accord from the BTCC then they would the one from the North American Super Touring Car Championship (A series where the Dodge Stratus was the biggest factory supported effort while everyone else was just far smaller privateers AND had the unfortunate distinction of being run by the same sanctioning body that ran CART as a sideshow to said series and not as its own main thing).

Look no further then the "Super Tourers" in Grid Legends or even the "Super Touring" Car Pack in Raceroom. As far as I can tell, when people hear "Super Touring", they think BTCC.

JTCC wouldn't be out of the question though. Primera, Bluebird, Corona, Chaser, Sprinter, 316(?)/320i, Exiv, aforementioned Accord, Civic.

Super Touring was a mix in GT2 anyway. We only need the road cars in GT7. I mean, that's what we've been getting to make any kind of series in this game.

Or ATCC.

The point is, we're talking about the super touring category and the cars that make it what it is, not any individual series. Licensing would be strictly a manufacture thing.

And I will gladly take that Stratus, too. It would be better than another useless VGT or Toyota van.

Who owns the rights to DTM? PD used those three letters for the Weekly Challenge. We've only got one official DTM regulation car and one ITR represented car.

Per ChatGPT:

RaceRoom Racing Experience (R3E), developed by Sector 3 Studios, holds the official license for DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters). They offer a dedicated expansion called “DTM Experience,” which includes cars, tracks, and features from various DTM seasons.

In addition to R3E, other racing games have featured DTM content, though not always under official licensing. For example, the “TOCA Race Driver” series by Codemasters included DTM cars and tracks, with “TOCA Race Driver 3” being one of the notable titles.

It’s worth noting that licensing agreements can change over time, and different games may feature DTM content to varying extents. For the most current and official DTM racing experience, RaceRoom Racing Experience remains the primary platform.

So, does that fall under their Super Touring licence? As I know it's STW in Europe. There were BTCC teams that competed in STW.
As posted above, the particular car licence is the issue. Would PD only get say one car from a Super Touring series other than JTCC and ATCC?

If PD add an A4, S40 and Vectra road cars. Could they them use the Super Touring label for a Weekly Challenge?

Different topic from the Super Touring one being discussed.

I can't remember, but what's the precedent for the silhouette teasers as regards to cars that have already been revealed?
Assuming that the January update is the standard 3 car addition, we already know 2 of them:
  • Hyundai Ioniq 5N
  • Gran Turismo F3500-A
So would they make a 3-car silhouette teaser for essentially just 1 unknown car?

Yes, January 2024 was this exact scenario (already known Genesis/Bulgari VGTs, so the only "unknown" silhouette was the kei Jimny).

So, does that fall under their Super Touring licence?
Nope, different race series that raced to a different set of regulations.

Prior to 93' most touring car series (including BTCC and DTM) ran under the FIA group A regs, but from 93 BTCC ran under the Super Touring (Group 2) regs and DTM ran under the Group 1 regs.

Super Touring wasn't a single licence either, but rather a set of regulations that various series ran under, with separate commercial licenses for all of those series, of which just under 20 existed.

The easiest way to get Super Tourers in GT7 would be to simply license the road cars, and then add the body kits as additional visual parts like they have done with many other cars so we could make our own.

This just leaves the question of, "does Polyphony think that road going Mondeos, Stratuses, V70s, etc. are worth adding?"

I personally don't see it as likely due to the fact that PD has mostly ignored the mid 90's outside of the big name Japanese tuner cars, and front wheel drive sedans as a whole are notably absent.

I think if a Super Touring eligible machine were to come to the game a Honda Accord would be a somewhat likely option, though PD has not given the Accord line any love so far in GT7. Something akin to a Chaser would also be a likely option, considering the cars popularity in the wider tuning/drift scene, though by then the JTCC's version of the Class 2 regulations had deviated a bit.

As far as DTM goes, I'd really just be fine with the racing version of the Mercedes-Benz 190 E Evo II from the early 90s, plus the other three racers from the late 2010s (Mercedes-AMG C63, Aston Martin Vantage, and BMW M4) which could all join the Audi RS5 that we already have. Add in the 2024 Super GT GT500 trio and I'd call Gr.2 pretty much complete, with a few late-90s/early-00s GT1/LMGTP racers potentially joining in as well.

I don't know if it's exclusive, but RaceRoom certainly licence it. They have the following DTM car packs:

And sufficent German tracks to run them on:

And quite wonderful it all is as well.
I think it's notable that the two DTM cars in GT both avoid the years RaceRoom have content for.

Means the AMG 190E Evo II might be a bit less likely because that's 1992 unfortunately.

From the description of the Crown Athlete G ‘13, it appears PD picked this model due to being updated from previous models. It’s a model we never had in the game and at least it has some performance. It’s funny the PD write up also mentions the Crown RS. That model is the one Saitama Toyopet Green Brave made the switch to when the Mark X they raced was discontinued. PD even dressed the Crown Athlete in a faux Green Brave livery and wheel set up like their Super Taikyu machine.

Many of us do agree that PD, for some reason, are skipping a popular era of four door sport sedans.
