This is a long story. I was a middling A driver, daily contributor here, could not run with the best of them but would often be in the bottom of the top split. That was using a controller like it was 1998, so D-Pad and X and square for gas and brake. I had a T150 wheel that I never gelled with, absolute disaster that thing. So I am happy enough driving this way but then in I think April 2023, there was a massive physics change and I lost like 3 seconds a lap, tried the T150 again but honestly it must have been broken as it felt so sloppy.
So I play fortnight for a yr to chill but I am a racer and at a local car event try a Fanatec Wheel on GT7, it's the GT4 Cayman at Austria and it feels GREAT. I decide to invest and got myself a Titan right with DD Pro 8nm and the P1 V2 wheel. Steering wise it is fantastic, really good compared to the T150.
Settings wise I am playing with it and like it low, sensitivity 1 and FF 3, anything stronger than that I feel is distracting.
Now there's been yet another physics change in what, October 24? So i am adapting to the wheel which feels far looser than the controller and also adapting to two physics changes. What is losing me is that demo i tried at the car event felt great, i could attack the circuit, this week I am dead set CRAWLING around because as soon a si lay on the gas it switches ends, it'ds so frustrating. There also seems to be a ton of understeer and I am braking much, much earlier than I did with the controller and two physics models ago.
I'll give some example, Seaside, the esses, if i touch the kerbs i go around. Like what the hell? The last corner, I LOVE that last corner, but I am waiting so long to get on the gas, like forever, if i try and get on it mid corner, at the apex, like i used to back in the day, she switches ends. NGP, the schumacher esses, I am lifting for a long, long time before I straighten the car because if i get on th gas with the wheel slightly turned and touching the kerbs, she spins. The circuit experience ghost is just vanishing up the road, cannot keep up at all when I had golds with my eyes closed 2 years ago.
Cayman GT4 with RH, this is a VERY stable car with low torque so TC1 should really be enough but i keep relentlessly spinning.
I'll take some videos for you guys but suspect I maybe just suck, i don't know why i suck so bad but I am just all at sea. It's cool to still recognise some folks here, I remember Pirovac, NEX and Obelisk.
