allowing all 4 systems to take part in the same online race?
The online Sport races are separated by the system, ps5 drivers play against ps5 and likewise for the PS4 players. Only in lobby races you can have both systems playing together.

Well, added info, but still: how would the Pro have different physics than the rest of the available systems?
(Admitted, some say the previous update broke something on PS5 that still worked fine on PS4).
But there is no "PS5Pro only", everything PS5 is PS5 or adds a Pro enhanced performance/quality mode for visuals only.

It’s still a can of worms and most likely the devs stay well clear of platform dependent physics, to reduce cost and risk of introducing unwanted behaviours/bugs

To be more clear in my first post above, the reason why in Sport that the platforms are separated is mainly playability, when in lobby races, if you are on a ps4, you will see the ps5 player cars "jumping" side to side especially in turns, I was told is same like behavior on ps5 watching ps4 driver cars.
This type of unwanted movements are a big hindrance to the online Sport races and is why the platforms are separated.

This can still happen on the same console (PS4 to PS4, PS5 to PS5) due to poor Internet connections and P2P lobbys.

It is also possible for different consoles to be in lobbys together, I'm not sure if this is just by joining a friends lobby though or whether they actually appear in the normal lobby list.

AMG VC was ran through lobbys and everyone was running a mix of consoles.

Hi there, something weird I just noticed today, can't remember if it was like this before, I did a custom race today with monotype SF23. I remember GR3 and SF23 always start with Hard compounds but today all SF23 today started with SOFT TYRES (I bought 10 SF23 to clone F1 24 season with proper liveries). Also they run the full stint until all tyres goes flat (totally red) .... only when the tyres are dead they go to pit for change to soft tyres again... Was it like this before ? or is it something related with the change of the physic ? It such a pity. I read some tweaks somewhere in this forum to tweak cars following teams performance, and this soft compound just broke the balance with me and the grid so that makes my win more predictable since they run so slowly for 6 laps since the tyres are dead. Any thoughts ? I can't wait Sophy with a smart strategy regarding gaz and tyres. Then later today I did again the same custom race, and two cars used Hard compounds when the other used soft. I am lost. how can we explained this ?

I only noticed recently how the brakes work when stationary. No matter how powerful the car is, if you come to a complete stop and hold the brakes while revving, the car will never move whatsoever. Even when you lower the pressure on the brakes to the absolute minimum, the car will still stand still. It seems that as long as there are any brakes applied while standing still it functions more as being in neutral.

I have not played in over a year because the change in physics about 15 months or so ago was just terrible. I come back to the game and somehow it is even worse with the 1.51 update. How on god's green earth are you people driving these cars? Absolutely joyless understeer, hopeless brakes, nervous under brakes, super twitchy on the gas, totally unpredictable on kerbs and generally a "walking on egg shells" experience.

If I want a difficult, brutal, life lessons type of sim experience I'll get iRacing, this game is meant to be accessible. Awful.

Is this in stock vehicles or in tuned cars? If you're in a car with a custom suspension, then the likely scenario is that the suspension settings on it are no longer good.

I don't know what that means but when I equip a car with Carbon Ceramic Brakes I often get un-straight braking on some very powerful or tuned cars.

Does anyone know how to remedy this?

Group 4 or Group 3 so far. High downforce cars that I am VERY comfortable in, or was two updates back. I don't understand the logic of discouraging people to participate in the game, it hasn't felt like I can attack the circuit in 18 months.

Not necessarily an answer to remedy the issue, but a starting point based on my experience:
1) If the car has an adjustable differential:
  • Lower the Decel lock on FF cars
  • Increase the Decel lock on RWD cars
  • Both of the above for 4WD -- Lower front decel, increase rear decel.

2) Equip the Brake Controller upgrade and adjust the setting back and forth until the car behaves the way you want it to.

Tire model got changed with the 1.49 onwards update. I haven't had much issue with those cars, but I also don't use the cars often enough so I can't speak to that aspect. Since you've indicated it's been over a year since you touched GT7, the most likely problem is just that you need to spend more time shaking off the rust and feeling out how the cars behave under the current physics.

I've also gone from controller to wheel so gave the controller a quick shake and yeah it's more stable but still worse than it was. Such a punish.
I feel it would help you if you worked your way up to those cars from road cars instead of diving into the deep end off the bat. I understand you're most comfortable with those Gr.3/4 cars, but the speed at which things happen in those makes it hard to readjust or to get a read on the physics off the bat.

I'll give it a go but have no reference point as I only raced group 2, 3 and 4 in the past. Never bothered with road cars so have no reference point. I was hoping to use the formula cars with a wheel but man, I am walking on egg shells just keeping thr car straight

Personally I think I’m alright pace wise and more or less where I was pre and post-1.49. That said, I do prefer how the physics felt before. Feels a bit too bumpy these days in my opnion, awkwardly bumpy sometimes even.

Compensation.

I feel like the cars are generally more stable now than they have been in the past, and though GT7 surely could still do a lot of work on the tire model (especially beyond grip), it's still a fair bit easier to drive than in earlier builds.

I honestly think road cars are plenty grippy with SMs and SS tires, and the same goes for GR3s on RM/RS. Hard tires are of course the least grippy of the sets which do lead to them being more prone to give up grip, but they're still manageable. Understeer is ultimately just the front tires being overworked, which involves slowing down or changing habits that contribute to it. Re-frame what "fast" feels like, and re-learn where to live in the limits.

Even without being perfect, I still feel like I am able to work towards optimizing my driving and getting the car to do what I want it to do within the scope of the model. I'm a lot smoother and more consistent than ever, partially because this game can really punish small mistakes.

It's kind of the way everything works really. Play, figure it out, compensate, improve. It's not iRacing, but it's still a really good drive.

Really? I just partially applied throttle on the exit of the right hander that leads to the back straight at NGP and she turned around on me with TC-1. Feels like unless the wheels are DEAD straight I cannot get on the gas at all.

Out of curiosity, what Wheelbase and in game settings do you use?

In what car? With what tires?

In last weeks TT with the Gr4 Huracan I could plant the throttle in first gear without issue. Yesterday in the GR3 Mustang at MP I had to be very careful applying the throttle on corner exit to avoid wheelspin.

Each car is different and reacts differently to inputs. That said, almost all of them require smooth throttle inputs. Many cars will bite you if you go full brake to full throttle immediately. Some cars have wide, pliable limits, and some only reward being very locked down.

I think you may just need to more time in the game to adjust to things. If anything, GT7 is a little more punishing with its model than iR and ACC, and the skills learned here can benefit you when you play them with a sharpened skill set.

I agree 100% about GT7 being more punishing than ACC, Kaz bangs on about sims shouldn’t be difficult yet with the GT tyre model there’s next to no feel beyond the grip window, just compare as an example the AMG gt3/gp3 between the 2.

Seems to be little evidence of the Michelin contribution in GT7 bearing any fruit thus far.

I found ACC too much like hard work with a controller,to the extent I couldnt get any enjoyment out of it.GT7 at the moment,as @LSFDRX mentioned, the game feels more stable. My go to track is Tokyo 12 laps, when there was the suspension issue I wasnt able to throw the car about as much, now it seems back to normal,it might just be placebo mind.lol. Im no expert driver, this is just my take on it. 👍

This is a long story. I was a middling A driver, daily contributor here, could not run with the best of them but would often be in the bottom of the top split. That was using a controller like it was 1998, so D-Pad and X and square for gas and brake. I had a T150 wheel that I never gelled with, absolute disaster that thing. So I am happy enough driving this way but then in I think April 2023, there was a massive physics change and I lost like 3 seconds a lap, tried the T150 again but honestly it must have been broken as it felt so sloppy.

So I play fortnight for a yr to chill but I am a racer and at a local car event try a Fanatec Wheel on GT7, it's the GT4 Cayman at Austria and it feels GREAT. I decide to invest and got myself a Titan right with DD Pro 8nm and the P1 V2 wheel. Steering wise it is fantastic, really good compared to the T150.

Settings wise I am playing with it and like it low, sensitivity 1 and FF 3, anything stronger than that I feel is distracting.

Now there's been yet another physics change in what, October 24? So i am adapting to the wheel which feels far looser than the controller and also adapting to two physics changes. What is losing me is that demo i tried at the car event felt great, i could attack the circuit, this week I am dead set CRAWLING around because as soon a si lay on the gas it switches ends, it'ds so frustrating. There also seems to be a ton of understeer and I am braking much, much earlier than I did with the controller and two physics models ago.

I'll give some example, Seaside, the esses, if i touch the kerbs i go around. Like what the hell? The last corner, I LOVE that last corner, but I am waiting so long to get on the gas, like forever, if i try and get on it mid corner, at the apex, like i used to back in the day, she switches ends. NGP, the schumacher esses, I am lifting for a long, long time before I straighten the car because if i get on th gas with the wheel slightly turned and touching the kerbs, she spins. The circuit experience ghost is just vanishing up the road, cannot keep up at all when I had golds with my eyes closed 2 years ago.

Cayman GT4 with RH, this is a VERY stable car with low torque so TC1 should really be enough but i keep relentlessly spinning.

I'll take some videos for you guys but suspect I maybe just suck, i don't know why i suck so bad but I am just all at sea. It's cool to still recognise some folks here, I remember Pirovac, NEX and Obelisk.

It definitely sounds like you know what your doing in the game.

Could there be an issue with your throttle linearity? It sounds like your inputs may be getting to 100% before you intend them to. Have you gone into the calibration menu to see how your throttle input progresses?

It's been a bit since I've used the Cayman GT4, but it's not a car that's particularly prone to on-throttle oversteer.

Seconding the linearity thing. My thinking was an input related problem - On a wheel, you're likely to run into issues if you're quick to hit full throttle.

Yeah I've been on the app but I'll revisit and give myself a longer gas pedal, maybe that'll help. Braking is taking time to learn, lots of lift understeer, like I lift and I am not sure what to expect, i suspect the controller was very, very forgiving and I am lifting too fast but i am really unsettling the car.

The left hander at NGP, after the esses, up hill, teal coloured rumble strip on the right was my braking marker but I am having to pull up a lot earlier now and my entry is sort of messy, I am not able to sort of dive into the corner.

Too much steering angle and too much throttle will do that every time with the post 1.49 update.
I'm finding the tires tolerate less slip angle and less overlap of steering and throttle/brake.
I had to adjust my driving style to do everything earlier (steering, gas, brake) to get back to my original pace after the post 1.49 updates.

I'll say this in an adult tone and not with any ranting. I find your observations disappointing. We have iRacing and we have Assetto Corsa if we want a tough, no compromise game. We also had project Cars 1 and 2 (3 took a detour). I thought the whole ethos of Gran Turismo was to be approachable. As a middle aged man with kids, demanding job, wife etc I appreciated the ability to pick up, be in a room with 15 other racers roughly my pace and be racing in no time. Sure it was a bit easy but you know what, the top drivers were still the top drivers, all you've done is alienate guys that don't have 3 hours a day to get the perfect feel on brake release so the car doesn't plough off the road or 100 hours to learn how to feather the throttle over kerbs so the car doesn't spin.

It's disappointing.

I get your frustration on it, and yes, physic changes can be very frustrating since it takes time to relearn the tire model and figure out how to go fast again. Been there, done that, got the shirt.
Here's the thing though, out of the titles you mentioned, GT7 is still the easiest to drive even with the somewhat frequent physic changes.
And figuring out the new physics doesn't require 100 hours. Go to your favorite track and drive your most familiar car in time trial mode and try to match your best previous times. Maybe an hour or two at most to do that.
Do the interior view and you can basically see where you turned in too late or too soon and how far behind or ahead you are.
Check the replay, look for points where you turned in too late, gave it too much or too little brake or throttle and how it affected your driving line, or when you spin look at the steering angle versus the throttle input in the same corner across a few laps.

If none of that works, where GT7 is really good and stays approachable as the everyday driving simulator is that you have a wide variety of driving aids with various levels on top of that you can turn on at anytime to help you out until you have time to learn the car with everything off.

I hope at least something in this reply helps, I'm wishing you the best of luck on it.

Appreciate the response. Sadly after 3 hours I am barely bronze on the circuit tests at NGP, Spa and Austria, tracks I used to qualify 2pc from the fastest qualifier. So ive a long, long, long way to go, need to find about 5 seconds at spa. Brutal.
