My bad if I missed anything, but, is falling rain more noticeable and is the track more reflective when humid?

Just how good is GT 7? Worth getting a PS5 Pro just for it?

Better than FM23 in terms of car audio and physics? Graphics I don't care about much. Both have good visuals.
Absolutely Yes!

I bought a PS5 and GT7 this year because I finally broke out of the Stockholm Syndrome hoping beyond hope T10 would actually deliver a fraction of their hype. I have never been more thankful and grateful. It has been long overdue to be thoroughly impressed and enjoy 95% of every moment.

I am a racer though, and I appreciate the highest fidelity and accuracy in driving models and in the vehicles. Others may car more about how many cars their game has that they never drive or can afford or be put through the grind for. The Dolby Atmos Surround sound on a proper multichannel setup is truly astounding. I weep for those who can't experience it. The 120hz frame rate is fantastic, especially for precision and consistency. Also the FFB using the DD+ Fanatec Wheel base is absolutely the best. I can feel what a car is doing with astounding nuance. Far too many sim
"cultmunity" folks think the highest Nm's and muscle memory for rote repetition is some way to clamber on about how good FFB is, If you have over a few dozen laps on track IRL at speed, you will find the FFB is right on the money, especially if you have enough experience across a wide spectrum of vehicles. GT7 works with simhub and is great for telemtry and analysis. Also the ease to get car liveries, helmet skins, and race suit skins and the community excellence is just entralling.

What Gran Turismo 7 is lacking significantly is not having unlimited automatic replay saves. About 2.5 months into GT7 I ran out of space. GT7 is the only thing I have installed and this was an absolutely inexcusable archaic NoNO, and the excuses that some 500MB limit in 2024 is anything other than terrible decision making nonsense and absolutely inexcusable and intolerable, is even worse.

Also the online racing can be frustrating, the penalty system can be inconsistent, It can keep twatwaffles far enough away and ghosted to avoid ruining your race, or you can just get caught up in it and get quadruple penalized for getting slammed. Nothing out there does proper race marhsalling and penalties great yet. iRacing penalizing everyone caught up in collisions is only slightly better becuase there might be a modicum of concern and that keeps some folks in check. But Overall I enjoy the online racing in GT7 often more than iRacing simply because of the much much better visuals, framerate consistency 120+, way way better sound, FFB, and feeling what is going on, and I can drive, versus just avoid anyone at ALL costs and hope a dozen haptic motors and simhub can help tell me what's going on with the car that GT7 does perfectly well out of the box.

And GT7 lacks user created leagues/scheduled events with long term point tracking and ability to create and share HUDs and tunes.

Now once I finally unlocked Sport mode to race online, and got through a good portion of the beginning- That I didn't know was the beginning because I was just enjoying it, and there's no really good overview, you just stumble through it, I have found the Missions, and Music Rally, and all the License and now Master Licenses to be absolutely as enjoyable as ever. The Daily Races and Weekly Challenges and the Nations Cup Exhibition and Qualifier races to partake in have been so so so much fun.

So really, it's what are you after. I do quite a bit of iRacing, BeamNG, and Gran Turismo 7 and am still waiting for them to get it all together in a single package, but GT7's high fidelity driving model, visuals/audio and framerate is not something you want to miss, It's something you want to experience. I had no idea it would be so good coming from coping with FM23. Forza was the front runner for quite a while, but sadly they have truly ended up backwards in the weeds.

GT7 isn't worth buying any console for
I already had GT7 [+The Crew 2] on the PS4 Pro, but when I saw how smoothly GT7 ran on the PS5 I saved up some money and bought one.

I only had GT7 on the PS5 until I "accidentally" downloaded the Stellar Blade Demo - then I ended up buying that too (by the way, It was the first non-car game I bought in my life. :sly: ).

Well, now there will be improvements for GT7 and Stellar Blade for PS5 Pro, so I'm thinking about buying the Pro to enjoy these two games a little more, but obviously I'm already thinking about GT8...

You see, not just one, but the GT7 is almost making me buy a second console!
But I won't deny that Eve is another motivating factor. ;)

I'm glad people enjoy GT7, my point of it not being worth buying any console for is simply because no game is a console or PC seller by itself.
I mean that's fair, but your sentence probably needed a bit of fleshing out. No worries.

GT7 isn't worth buying any console for

I'm glad people enjoy GT7, my point of it not being worth buying any console for is simply because no game is a console or PC seller by itself.

If you don't buy any console, how would you even play GT7 ?
If you want to play GT7, then you would have to buy at least one of the console? You must at least have the console first, bought for any other game at least, before you can even consider playing GT7...

Not sure I follow your logic.

Following your clarification on the second post:
I can surely certify with you that every PlayStation console I have ever bought, is exactly because and for specifically a Gran Turismo game, nothing else.

I really don't care about any other games.
I do have other games, but that's because I have the console that I bought solely for Gran Turismo.

I might just be an anomaly in the population.

My point is:
I would buy whichever PlayStation console once (not twice), in order to play a Gran Turismo game (or 2 or 3),
But I will not buy two of the same consoles just to play the same Gran Turismo game.

The only exception to the rule is:
The PS5 and PSVR2 that I bought just to play GT7, which i already had in PS4 disc version and have been playing on the PS4 Pro.

But I tell you, I don't regret getting the PSVR2 on day one, because it is not a novelty as I was expected, it is a total game changer and that is truly worth the purchase.

On the other hand, I will not get the PS5 Pro because the graphical improvement is not game changing, therefore I will skip it.

Going forward we have two options:

1)
GT8 comes out and is ONLY playable on PS5 Pro

2)
GT8 comes out on PS6

In scenario 1) I most likely will not buy GT8, and will wait until the PS6 and potentially with PSVR3

In Scenario 2, it will be a day one purchase, especially if there is PSVR3....

Until then, I will continue to enjoy GT7 with PSVR2 on PS5 fatty.

In short: Gran Turismo has always been the console seller game by itself, for me.

No other game does that for me, except maybe Zelda on Nintendo.

I will most likely upgrade to the ps5 pro but GT7 as much as I like this game isn’t one of the reasons for it. The real time RT reflections are a nice tech showcase but it’s not worth the new console.
I'm undecided to get a PS5 Pro, but I'm very interested to see, how much better the PSVR2 will perform with this upgrade. How sharp will it be and will there be raytracing too? Will there be the long missed driver table shown?

Same for me. It’s a shame that there is barely any info given so far.
Mark Cerny said something in an interview, that PSSR should/will also work for VR games, but that’s all so far.
Kayak VR and this CyberCube (it’s written differently) are marked as Pro enhanced titles in the store.
That’s all what we known so far.

An improvement for the GT7 VR mode would be highly welcome. It looks good but slightly less pop in, higher res and fps would be very welcome. Furthermore the VR mode looks often a bit washed out in terms of the colours.

That’s not true. Same as the gens before, there won’t be a single ps5 pro exclusive title. It will be ps5 and ps5 pro or not.

You can upgrade for 10 bucks to the ps5 version. It’s worth it. Ps5 version runs in native 4K with around 80-90 fps (if your tv supports it). Even the dualsense features are absolutely worth it.
Not wishing to argue but I thought GT7 was fixed at 60fps,or am I missing something somewhere.
@Reeneman I cant see GT8 being a pro exclusive either. 🫱

If you have an hdmi 2.1 tv that is capable of 120 hz and VRR, GT7 runs with a higher framerate. That option was added with the patch released in February or march 2023.
Of course only with ps5 and the native ps5 version of the game.
There is even the 120 fps mode but that one reduces the resolution and details of the visuals.

Still nothing about PSVR2, and the fact that Sony didn't provide any PSVR2 comparison during the journalists demonstration day:

GT7 comparison discussion at around 5min, but nothing about VR2:

I really don't think the pro will do anything for the VR2...
That's my technical educated guess at this point...

Just being realistic, not pessimistic view at all.

PS5 Pro will never have exclusive games for it, only upgraded PS5 titles, so GT8 will either be PS5/PS6 cross-play or PS6 only. I reckon it'll be the former.

We will see. Still 5 weeks to go until the console will be available.
All the Sony advertising for the console was bad so far. Digital foundry and other gaming websites did the job for them to show visible improvements.
PSVR2 is not the big focus for them but the headset itself was called „dead“ now for so often… still some nice games coming out for it over the next months.

And Kayak VR and Cybcube (can’t get over this strange name) are listed as ps5 pro enhanced titles. So to say the console won’t do anything for VR is already proven wrong. They can use the additional power for improvements.

So comes next month with the update 1.53,
GT7 will be on a 3 cross-gen consoles
PS4 Pro, PS5 and PS5 Pro ?!

I believe that graphical improvement through the PS5 Pro is the effort that was pushed by Sony Entertainment,
After that PD and Kaz should be able to come back and concentrate on finishing the content of GT7, while at the same time get going with the next chapter GT8 on PS6...

We the people, the majority of us, don't really care at the moment for graphical improvement.
We prefer content over graphics.

But Sony leadership, management and beam counters have determined that pushing for a new mid cycle refresh and new updated console the PS5 Pro will give them the edge while they still work on the PS6 for 4 to 5 years down the line...

With that effort out of the way, Kaz and PD can focus back on content update and prepare for GT8 on PS6 for 2028 Christmas.... Delays will push it for 2029...

My predictions.

So hopefully we continue to get monthly updates from Kaz for the next 3 to 4 years at least.

Thanks a plenty for that in-depth review! Looks like I better start saving for a PS5 + GT7. I'll only be playing on a pad though and don't have a full blown Atmos system although my midrange surround amp helps me experience all the mids, highs, and lows pretty much as the developer intended.

Forza can be fun but it's the attitude of the developer, really, that I feel is not making the franchise age well. It's gotten too corporate. The last GT game I owned and experienced was GT4 and I miss it to death. So much has evolved since then. Hope I get to experience it soon!

If you view gt7’s single player as a warm up to online racing, then yes. Its great fun. I only play gt7,and only in vr with a wheel and enjoy playing daily for about a year and a half now. Is online perfect? Gosh no. Is it a little dirty. Sure sometimes..but it doesn’t look much worse than a wec or imsa race.
I don't care about online in ANY game to be honest. I take my time exploring the game, couldn't care at all about what's happening in the MP/online space.

This, it's great there is online, though a true offline campaign should also exist. What is present right now isn't close to good enough for a supposed Triple A game (been listed as such by publications, qualifying criteria not really known)
