So the custom parts are strictly cosmetic. That is the impression I got.

The soundtrack seems interesting. Of course I'm now even more intrigued by the weather system. But I still don't feel we learned anything new. Not much, anyway. And, yeah, the AI remains trash.

A shame that the HUD is the same.
They are only cosmetic? That's a huge disappointment. No renewed HUD is odd too. It would be refreshing to everyone who came from GTS and I don't think it would be much work too.

Kinda excited, kinda pissed

Is it just me, or is this even less of a single player 'career mode' than GTS had?
What? GTS single player is the most barebone thing in gaming, there is no less from that. Just because they only showed it briefly at the start doesn't mean there isn't more to it. Clearly they wanted to focus on new features and stuff, the GT we know and love it's very comprehensive and that's what has been promised.

Well that was a pretty expected mixed bag.

Positives:
Looks great
Time and weather seems well done
Solid collection of cars
Customisation looks in depth

Negatives:
Well, they seem to have almost forgotten it's a racing game. The presentation focused way too much on looking at cars in one way or another.
Astonishing that their biggest new features are indeed music rally and music replays. I mean, consider myself whelmed.
They spent about 20 seconds on the career mode and 0 seconds on AI. Shows you where their priorities are and clearly there is nothing new to say about career.
Confirmed 0 new to the series tracks at launch.

I'll buy it but I'm not in a hurry. Maybe in 6 months with some updates.

Anyone else notice the VW Bug used to demonstrate tuning seemed to be engine swapped with an '01 Porsche engine?!

Thought that was pretty great. I expected GT Sport but with the more traditional single player experience and thats what we're getting! Cafe thing looked neat. All the menu, UI, GT Auto (wide body animation lol), Used car section etc etc all looked great, charming, and full of character which is why I still love the GT series even when compared to other racing games.

Gran Turismo stands on its own.

And to point out, because a lot of people tend to gloss over it when they whine and complain about this series, he says it right near the beginning: A racing game for car enthusiasts in the broadest sense and capabilities. It's not designed to be a hardcore, niche, racing simulation :)

One part I wasn't clear on is, have they actually changed the simulation model (tyre, physics, FFB)? I mean they had a whole segment talking about parity with real life times, and getting input from advisors like Lewis Hamilton and Michelin.....but...they didn't actually say they've done anything?

Guess it's only a month at this point, but still would be good to confirm.

Also no new cockpit pov displayed (dash cam etc) which is disappointing.

Nobody can stop the Hypetrain !

But we really need a damage-model, engine-blowups, punchers etc.
I dont care if the car-manufactures dont want these. It would be same for all brand anyway, so no disadvantage for nobody.

Track & Time visuals were quite impressive

It all looks very GT. I approve.

You have approved it, so PD can officially release the game now.

Quick Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Looks great on PS5
  • Tuning is back and looks deep
  • Scapes look great as does photomode
  • Circuits actually look alive for a GT title
  • Weather and time of day return
  • Single-player back (GTS wasn't a proper single player)
  • Car showrooms, Legend Cars, Used Cars looks to have the expected polish and depth
  • Haptics for controller users
  • Car Cafe looks interesting
Cons
  • Understeering cars do not vibrate the front tyres - stop this nonsense
  • Weather progression, while great for GT, is behind the likes of PC and AMS
  • Music Rally - I just don't get it
  • No details on AI changes, and they don't look greatly improved
  • RAces - still chase the rabbit?
  • No PS4 footage yet

All that was visible was really to select a track, and there are a few events there. That's even less than GT League was. There don't seem to be other menus to even host more single player content...

During the dynamic time and weather section, I didn't see any shadows move. That's problematic if they're making a big deal about dynamic time.

Almost nothing about how they're handling online play. I'm a bit concerned that real improvements are being made.

Some of the offline things looked promising but nothing about improved AI, which puts a damper on things.

A part of me worries that more resources were put towards mapping the skies than improving the actual gameplay.

You can 'not care', but if you ignore them you don't get the license.

They still very much call the shots.

Wasn't expecting much to be shown of career mode. It'll be the standard fare we've had in every Gran Turismo (aside from Sport) so there probably isn't much there we need to see over the new features and such.

Just maybe - return to Glory GT days when GT was King. I will do my best to wait...to read actual user reviews etc.

I seen lots of good things in the presentation.

Looks like sound takes a back seat again.

Damage ....non existent.....as usual.

As an overall package though seems may have the indications that could be great.

Need to see how the payouts work and if daily wheel spin works. If they do not allow you to sell gift cars for at least 25% value. Then that would be a big negative for me.

They showed one race in the Sunday cup, so that's all we're getting?

Nah. If you think this is gonna have less than the nothing GTS had then I don't even know what to say to that.

Love the used cars. I hope the budget system forces you to use them if you want the faster cars- early on at least. I can't stand how easy it is to own every card in a few days in the Forza games.
