It was so good really enjoyed it but why is it so hard to show PS4 PS4 pro footage or even reply to a fan to re assure them the PS4 pro experience will be ok. Loved the reveal though and can’t wait to play it(25th anniversary edition pre ordered) and PS4 pro hdd upgraded to Samsung ssd. But I wish we had PS4 footage or Kaz talking about the differences between both consoles. Or am I asking to much? I don’t mean to be a pain just looking for re assurance etc. thank you as always GT Planet

They showed one race in the Sunday cup, so that's all we're getting?

Nah. If you think this is gonna have less than the nothing GTS had then I don't even know what to say to that.
I'm talking about the way it is setup.
Instead of having proper championships, they put some events on the track selection screen. There seems to be no career mode at all. Only license tests and driving missions (as GTS already had) and a somehow even weaker version of what GT League was.
I hope there is more, I expected there to be more, but this was the moment to show it, and they didn't.

My biggest concern - the AI - was not addressed and continues to look basically like the GTS AI. Huge bummer.

Rest looked fine, the collection stuff will probably hook me. Very excited for that.

Visually a surprisingly mixed bag.

After a whole PS generation where I enjoyed GT Sport but missed the classic GT progression I am looking forward to GT7.

Do I wish it was next gen exclusive? Hell yeah but we live in different times nowadays will still buy it day one.

I may be mistaken but I think this is the earliest a GT game has come out into a new PS console generation so here is hoping we get another next gen only release on PS5 and GT7 keeps me busy until then 🤞

't expecting much to be shown of career mode. It'll be the standard fare we've had in every Gran Turismo (aside from Sport) so there probably isn't much there we need to see over the new features and such.
..and that's ok with you? "Ah it's the same old thing again, no need to see it".

Honestly it baffles me that so many people just accept and don't care that nothing about the career mode ever changes. As a single player racer who doesn't care about looking at photos and replays of my car what am I supposed to get excited about? Car upgrading and weather is certainly very nice but rather pointless if the racing is poor.

As I said, they seem more focused on looking at cars than they are about racing them.

I have a feeling the actual racing will get old very quick to GTS players with:
  • Probably the same physics model
  • No tyre temperature
  • The same tuning config
  • Just 70? more cars and 5 more tracks
  • The same HUD
  • Still no damage model
  • Probably the same AI
  • Very similar sounds

Only saving grace in actual gameplay seems to be time and weather simulation. Oh, and the thumbs actually being where they should be on the wheel

Not the biggest fan of widebodies but alone for the GT Auto guys hanging on the fenders illustration I will do it over and over again

So gameplay is 60fps in both modes , but one has 30 fps replays with ray-tracing, and the other has no ray-tracing, but 60fps replays?

I haven't watched the video yet, I'm at work :(

nothing about the AI? It's the worst cons of GT. Hard pass for me.
Probably the same AI

It's "improved", and there's "a lot of advancements". Yamauchi did say it was quicker, more aggressive, and better at taking appropriate actions rather than getting in the way - but also that it's something that they can work on pretty much infinitely.

Music Rally 😂😂 seriously?? Sorry to all the GT fans but this guy has lost the plot
If it's not for you, it's probably not for you.

The idea is basically a super-easy, super-chilled, cruising and tunes mode to indoctrinate kids into thinking cars are cool.

The weather and dry line simulation looked amazing.

Plus I’m a big car nerd so I’m looking forward to the cafe. The scrolling text in GT4 dealerships was one of my favourite bits.

I didn’t play GT6 or GTS so I’m sure the physics and online experience will be a nice step over GT5. Even if I will miss GTP nascar races :(

But it WILL have a new sound track. And be 4k I presume on ps5 at least.

That's enough for me 🙂

I mean, it was to be expected that they'd focus on single player, so to have it be laid out in such a way is certainly appreciated, but it was clear that reading the article in the OP that so much of it is typical Kaz navel-gazing about making car people out of casual players, with very little actually outlined in any sort of clarity. And that still doesn't really address the elephant in the room in what they've actually done with the AI, though from reading this thread, it seems like they've done less then nothing, and this might be the breaking point in getting things changed in that regard. I would hope - if they're going to continue with the chase the rabbit events then they've absolutely given up and it might take Kaz hiring someone from somewhere else to have things changed.

This is what gets me. The more you break it down to brass tacks, the more it's incredibly obvious that they simply grafted an actually complete game onto GTS' shell...while not adding much to make those that did play GTS actually pony up the cash to pay for the game on PS4, or make the upgrade to PS5 if they haven't already.

To think, this could have probably come up in the time that was GTS' life span, and they could have completely avoided all of GT7 and actually had a place to start from in the next gen, instead of this weird half step that ultimately still uses GTS for the majority of its functions.

Nobody can stop the Hypetrain !

But we really need a damage-model, engine-blowups, punchers etc.
I dont care if the car-manufactures dont want these. It would be same for all brand anyway, so no disadvantage for nobody.

Track & Time visuals were quite impressive
Punchers? lol

Yeah, unfortunately the AI seems to be the same as usual. Kaz says they’re better but unless the build they were using for State of Play had placeholder AI, then I doubt they’ll be all that much quicker.

Drivatars may not be perfect but the concept is something GT could really do with if they for whatever reason struggle to design fast AI (I doubt this, though, the rabbit in GT6 seasonal events could be ridiculously quick once you overtook it, but they were the only events in the game where they had any sort of competitiveness).

Luckily for me, I love the photography and car collecting elements of GT so expanding on that is good news, but I do feel for those who wanted a more involved driving experience, because besides physics upgrades, it seems the single player is unchanged from prior titles (I don’t mind it but the AI being as they are don’t really make it very engaging).

I think Gran Turismo has changed from an offline game where it was absolutley glorious (GT1-4) to a heavily online game (GTS and probably GT7). Maybe PD thinks, like some game companies do, that offline gaming is gonna be doomed anyway. GT7, like GTS, is probably going to have two main categories: Photomode and online. The offline will just be here for people who haven't ever driven a car in a game, which probably makes a much smaller base than what PD thinks, hence why it would be much better to have an engaging offline career mode and proper racing with good AI as opposed to chasing rabbits.

All is not doomed however and the next Grid game looks very promising.

Kaz did talk about consulting a bunch of different people about the physics. He didn't expound on it but it was brought up. Same thing about tire temps, he talked about it during the dynamic weather section.

Game websites have far more information than what was revealed in this state of play.

I REPEAT. Previews from GAME WEBSITES HAVE FAR MORE INFORMATION.

for example. I just found this snippet

"On top of the general, organic soundscape, Gran Turismo 7 features 75 artists and 300 individual tracks across several genres."

That was from ign.

But game informer and such, all have different bits of info.

What a nightmare. ( For us )

Hype train boarded.
