If the music rally is "super easy, super chilled" why is there a gold/silver/bronze system to it? I get the completionist part of it but if it's something you have to finish for 100% platinum... Superchilled? Swing and a miss.
Kids like to be able to complete things too...

... and since Yamauchi also said they're easy enough that decent drivers can muck about drifting or doing donuts and still not run out of beats, pretty easy and chilled...

I don't understand the "evening through morning" wording. Is it a full day/night cycle, yes or no?
Yes.

Some tracks ONLY have morning through to evening. Others, and he highlighted tracks which run real-life 24hr races, have evening through morning AS WELL.

It's not moving! Pull harder!

Have engine swaps already been confirmed for GT7 before now? Couldn't find any mention of it before the SoP

I guess the FIA should get rid of safety cells and trust drivers to drive properly.

Always the same thing here, you want the game to improve and evolve and all people say is: "We've never had that, we don't need it, go somewhere else"
Well that's real life you're talking about. Gran Turismo is Pokemon for car enthusiasts. It's casual, relaxing fun to drive a large variety of cars around some tracks. And not unlike Pokemon, they haven't made very large strides in innovation for quite some time.

When you've been around this industry long enough you learn to not bother getting upset about it because there's no point. You take it for what it is. If you want good, close, competitive racing.. You have Sport mode. As long as a person is as good as they think they are, they'll reach the top rank and have some of the closest racing anywhere, on any platform.

Just play them all. The arcade games, the "simcade" games, and the pure sims.

Guess you mean hardcore real life racers or the sim-racing pro's?I just play for fun and played all gt's exept the gt sport. Online isn't for me other than make some more credit's or a new car.I'm thinking of gt 5 and 6 seasonal events.

I, on the other hand, wonder, how do you enjoy playing offline. For us who only play online, I hope it's not a disappointment. And I hope it is possible to put the bop.

I think this will be a solid mainline entry in the GT series...probably better than GT5 and GT6. GT4 felt like a high water mark so I'm curious to see how it compares to that one.

I was hoping the Music Rally would be a little more special. My thought was that it would be some sort of procedurally generated environment based on the music playing. I suppose I'm just gonna have to build that myself.

I don't think GT7 will be worse than GT Sport, but I'm not blown away by much either. The graphics and dynamic weather are great, drag racing and body customization are cool new editions. Music rally seems similar to the Sierra time rally in GT6, GT4 had something like the music synced replay, scapes have steadily improved since the GT4 photo locations, GT Auto has the return of the quirky animations, tuning parts are back though should have never left. Not many new tracks and vehicles is a let down (but at least the Superbird returns), still no damage model like expected, and no footage of PS4 anything means I'm either going to have to pay a scalper for a PS5 or buy the PS4 version with no signs that it won't be terrible.
Overall the state of play didn't sway me one way or another though I may be too harsh given what was shown today wasn't meant to give away everything that will lay ahead (I hope). At least there is no release date delay.

why do you think someone who only plays online doesn't do it for fun? absurd

So this is it?

You open a circuit and get a list of single events on that track? What about championships? Do we do a race on one track then go to another track when we feel like it? I really can't believe this is how we navigate career mode but it seems it is, the menus are going to be final by now.

Really bizarre.

Ok so Deep Forest track Being a Swiss venue is now Canon in GT lore !

On the big matter the video event was great. As a space Nerd watch the efforts they put in recreating stellar night sky and day night cycle is a big commitment. Imagine if they synchronise real time date from all over the world to let you Race at a track in the "real time" weather and time condition !!! That's seems like they aimed for that ! Exciting

Cars look gorgeous and we were just in 1080p
Tarmac condition and puddle and drying big Yes.
The cafe is a neat idea having interviewe talking about their role and part in the making process is a great touch.

Well there is a lot really they put up the good work in crafting.
Interlagos for exemple has been updated it seems ( turn 1 internalccurb side is walled if I recall)

Remember that car damage were not talking until release of the GT Sport game so we will see...
But yes AI and car damage is what a lot of us look for.

Rally Music
may be a huge or somewhat new way of driving or cruising with a car you don't feel like racing "seriously" with

Like a real "rally" where time passage and speed cannot be ignored it could be cool just to try driving matching a song you just like with a car you enjoy and that the games rewards you for doing just that so you don't feel like "loose" you cash earning time if you were just doing a regular championship for the cash grab.

after a workday it could be great if you don't want to commit to a "performance" driving session and still having a bit of light challenge just for entertainement. Synchronising your action on the track with the sound track (ASMR for driving enthousiast)
A lot of people on GT sport must feel like that, no ?

Just flicking through it again, I see on the world circuits top menu it does list championship at the bottom, but half of them are track specific.

High Speed Ring Track Day
Tokyo Highway Parade Race
Petit Course de France
Trial Mountain Cup
Asia-Oceana..something
European Championship

Who knows what a parade race is but overall this doesn't look good for single player, tying progression to circuits and linking everything through circuits.

They somehow managed to take the old format and making it worse by not giving events a dedicated set of menus.

So if I want to complete all the Sunday Cup events I have to look around all the circuits until I find ones that have a Sunday Cup even listed as available. Who thought that up?!

To race? I dunno if you know this, but racing doesn't come from chasing an AI 30 seconds ahead of you that will sand bag to let you get the win.
Don't get me wrong, I agree the AI should be much better, but for one reason or another AI has never been a focus for PD. Gran Turismo will never be ACC and vice versa.

Frustrates me that they can't do both, but GT has always felt like more of a "driving" game with a focus on the cars themselves, rather than hardcore racing. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depends how you see it), GT7 doesn't look set to break that trend...

With more circuits and cars being added via DLC, like we saw on GTS, the events aren't really championships anyway. This appears to be more of a navigational thing than a gameplay thing.
