The pro has a bit sharper image.
But draw distance/LoD is unchanged.

It does look shinier/more reflective, but for £700? I'd expect more.
The non-ray tracing, 4K/120 setting is more interesting to me.
I wouldnt care about Raytracing.
Lighting, generally yes, but Raytracing is subtle.

The Anti-Aliasing is much more everpresent and has a bigger noticeably impact.

The castrol supra is not the entirety of Gran Turismo now is it?


There are 400+ cars outside of Super GT that Gran turismo offers
Honestly, Gran Turismo 7 really lacks a bunch of modern super cars, hyper cars and a bunch of various categories of race cars and etc.

But that isn't the point. Gran Turismo was and always all about those Japanese cars, adding as many as possible and obscure as possible, which is why I think we all love Gran Turismo as a whole. It's main identity of the game you could say.

If GT7 would come out initially with updated GT500 cars, let's say from 2021 as well as perhaps add some oddballs from GT300 cars, using mother-chassis, like Toyota MC86, Toyota Prius and etc. Everyone would rejoice in happiness, because Gran Turismo is all about that—it would feel much more complete.

This gaming franchise has never been mainstream, compare to let's say forza horizon which has a ton of cars that only few can afford or those modern GT3 cars that everyone wants.

So genuiely, if anyone wants those newer cars such as Ferrari 296 GT3 or Porsche 963...perhaps they'll eventually come, but it'll take some time.

People want those cars, because PD is literally the best there is in terms of car modeling and such, which is quite understandable.

But as I said, the game is not mainstream, it's Kaz's own child...albeit still in 'beta' state (incomplete career, rabid chase ai and etc)

GT7 certainly has a good carlist in terms of Japanese cars, but not those that speak to you 'it's late game now! You've come so far...'

Perhaps I'm just getting nostalgic over GT1/GT2 games, where you would go from a literal Prius to a Legendary JGTC cars, but that's just the spirit of Gran Turismo. (Of course in future installments we would go further into F1 90's cars, LMPs and RedBull Xs territory, but they all feel like an 'addition' in my opinion.)
 
Some first impressions from the ps5 pro.
Check your settings first. There is a new toggle for PSSR in the settings and also the toggle for the new VR Reprojection feature, which was off in the beginning.

Regular flat mode:
Image quality is totally fine with PSSR. This is thankfully no Alan Wake 2 or Jedi Survivor PSSR situation :)
Picture is sharp and stable. Minor aliasing can happen on thin objects and edges but this happens as well with the native 4K mode before. I think it’s a bit less with PSSR on some objects.
Tiny downsize: you can spot some of the grizzle/fizzle on sand and on car paintings especially when you zoom in close in photo mode and move the camera. Nothing that bothers during regular gameplay.

RT during a race is a nice tech demo but honestly this is nothing I can take notice of during regular gaming. In photo mode or during a replay when you are able to focus on these reflections it’s nice.

Need to test out other weather conditions and the VR mode as next.
 
Well PSVR2 on the PRO doesn't make me dizzy immediately so yay!
Completed a full lap on Laguna and only very mild discomfort in the corkscrew, wherein before on my Slim, immediately on the first turn I'd have to take the headset off...

But I'm not sure I'll be playing much VR, I much more prefer the resolution on my LG OLED than the "immersion" of VR..

Can someone post a screenshot of the graphics options please. Want to understand how to get best resolution with Ray tracing in race. Currently I'm away from ps5 pro.
Its relatively simple. Regarding RT or framerate the game will ask you again during the first start after updating.
Only the new VR toggle needs to be turned on manually. Will test this now.
Overall thrilled to see the analysis by Digital Foundry.

I don't think it should be like that... but the Escort RS with standard drivetrain behaves like it was FWD
Yeah, I had to buy the torque-vectoring centre differential so that the car felt like a 4WD.

And I did the same with the new Porsche 911 Turbo S (as well as with the Nissan GT-R '24 last month) to feel at least the slightest will to oversteer with all that power :)

BTW, is it normal that the Porsche Mission X doesn't have the reverse gear but drives backwards when I hold the downshift button? :D

Can you provide more details about differences in VR?
 
It’s always easy to say. Visually we’re at such a high level these days with many games. Sure there is no night and day difference with the ps5 pro.
To be fair: when there is no change, how are they supposed to look any different?
I took them to point out that LoD is not improved as someone before claimed.

As there is nothing that would hint towards the more visually impressive lighting effects, there is nothing else to see - except for a bit increased sharpness which may be lost on eyesight.

Side by side it maybe is a bit more easy to spot.

I'm sorry mate, but saying GT is not mainstream is like saying Water is Dry.

Its been one of the best selling games in each playstation so far.
Most people pick it up,ceven if they do one race in it and never touch it after that.

So does the pssr option only really apply when choosing 120hz and graphics preference which ends up with 4k 120. Or do you need to select pssr for the 4k60 with R/T

Oh man I hope I'm still able to get the new Escort and the Merc on 26th.
I am not sure if the following is also true for the legendary car dealership, but in the used car dealership, cars newly added to the game via an update are available for longer than regularly. So I guess you are safe.
