Due to the description of the game settings PSSR is used for the 8K mode nevertheless you turn it on or off.

Currently not. We will see how it evolves.
But no big surprise, the situation with the ps4 pro was mostly the same. Didn’t get the big hype and discussions around it. As a tech fan I bought a pro but I didn’t expect a huge difference.
Nevertheless some pretty nice ps5 pro updates were released already.
I think it comes down to how well PSVR does. Could be a game changer for the pro. If game devs dont make the games the pro wont matter. we still need good VR games. I'm sure theyll come but its not there yet. Being into tech, yet I dont care if the pro does well. And then see how that pans out

Update feels like a bit of a let down so far, either with events barely suited to the new cars or weird new technical issues.

But to PD's credit it does seem like they've finally fixed the weird suspension physics bugs - forcing the 500 Mondial around on grippy tires is very floppy and reboundy as you'd expect, but it no longer physically leaves the ground when it gets too lively.
I definitely feel a change with the handling but I don't feel it's gone all the way there yet, some cars still feel like they want to take off in places. Will need to do some more testing, including the 500, thanks for the heads up on that.
 
Um, PS5 Pro update is a little underwhelming.

The big noticeable bit is that when Ray Tracing is on, the replays run at 60fps instead of 30fps. That's nice.

But, it's not so nice when you see that they have dithering, or banding, in the ray tracing.

First up, here's the replay at 60fps (well, it is on my machine) with the Ray Tracing prioritized. Looks good. (Note: Go full screen and let it load or it will just look pixelated)


But, here is the banding and dithering. The wheels reflect better as well. I know it's hard to see it, but it is noticeable. And you can see this more when racing. It was hard to get a good replay that showed it. (Note: Again, go full screen and let it load. It's subtle)


Do you see it in racing? Some of you might. I do. So, I will keep this new feature turned off and leave it on "prioritize framerate".


Has the suspension been fixed???? Well, yes and no. The PS5 now behaves like the PS4 version. So, it's different...kind of better. The problems are less noticeable. However, it's not great. In the video above with the Merc 190, you can see the behaviour of the car is pretty good. They tires do not slip as much, which again, is how the PS4 version has been for the last few months. That said, the Mangusta still wheelies on SS tires. This happens on PS4 and PS5

Yeah after that post I gave the ZL1 a go and noticed it still behaves a bit weirdly when it hits the bump stops, but it's progress in the right direction at least - the worst offenders are back to behaving like actual cars.
 
Raytracing is soooo overrated. It looks incredibly bad on chrome wheels. But if you set prioritze frame rate the damn thing barely makes it to 120hz at 1250p (sorry guys, but it doesn't run at 4k 120 natively) Not even a RTX 4090 is able to do such thing at the moment. Much less this 16Tflops 200watts sipping binned piece of silicon.

One important note, you need to turn off the 120 hz setting in the options to get in-game RT.
In the pic you can see the „wrong“ setting.

On the Pro at 4K60 VRR to me it looks better with PSSR off. It runs a little slower at times but edges are much sharper and image is more stable w/o PSSR.

I actually think it ran and looked better pre-patch on the Pro at 4K60 VRR. I'm thinking ray traced reflections in game while driving is a waste of GFX horsepower.

I'd much rather have better LODs, smoother shadows, or even RTGI than better reflections on the cars.
90% of the time you can't see them but it's still slowing everything down.

I'd like to leave it like it is, but have an option to turn off just the fancy car reflections while driving to get more performance and solid 60 FPS like pre-patch. With the main option to favor frame-rate, it feels like it downgrades the entire image more and I don't like that setting either.

Haven't tried it at 2560x1440@120 VRR, and my TV doesn't do 4K 120. But on a 55" TV nine feet away 1440p can look pretty good especially running at 120 FPS.

VR has improvements but also looks worse at times with that new reprojection setting activated.

I hope they keep working on this. Overall it's good but there's a lot of issues. I'd like more granular GFX settings.

Replays run pretty bad in that mode. It never goes below 48 FPS to fall out of VRR that I saw, but there's a lot of hitching and inconsistent frame times and just not smooth. My TV shows the FPS but it doesn't update fast. Never saw it go below 48 FPS yet though.

I honestly don’t know how he does it every update. It’s either a ton of AFK farming, or around 100 hours of grinding just to get the 10 Mercs there at 2m/hour. Or he’s just a millionaire irl.

Either way both take hundreds of hours to pull off and he has tons of grids like that. So total playtime’s got to be in the high thousands of hours. Because I’ve been playing for two years since launch and only have 900 or so at the moment. And I play for probably more than 8 hours a week.

You know I think since it’s been a few years, people have built up their collections, people just buy the cars they want usually and forget about the rest, we’ve kind of as a community forgotten just how long, egregious and boring of a grind it is to even get one of every car in the game. And this update definitely didn’t help that. Adding at least another ten hours of grinding to the total just to get one of the cars.

I was testing out the W196 at the Tokyo grind. That first corner with the mist and headlights and everything can slow things down pretty good while driving and in replays but yeah I didn't even try night/ rain anywhere yet. I think PD just need to give us a toggle for the ray traced reflections in every single mode. That would help a lot.
 
Think I've settled on the updated Prioritize Resolution + 120hz/VRR + PSSR options. I tried Framerate + 120hz/VRR with PSSR On and Off and the image didn't look any "smoother", which is odd because I think it was noticeable before? And in the lower res/framerate mode, PSSR definitely made things like chain fences have the weird PSSR artifacting.

Resolution/Raytracing + 120hz/VRR + PSSR just looks better. I couldn't really tell you exactly why but it does and the framerate looks the same as Framerate mode. Basically, VRR fixes any framerate issue. I can see via my TV that its running at a lower framerate but it doesn't look lower framerate lol Someone earlier mentioned the lack of aliasing being more noticeable/bigger improvement than the raytraced reflections and I think I agree.

🤷‍♂️ Doesn't really matter in the end. GT7 already looked gorgeous as it was and didn't really need improvements.

At one point, my guy had a goal to reach a million miles in a P1. Thats how.
