And you know a lot of us on this forum don’t even have the time to put in 8 hours a week into the game, so them adding a car that takes 10 to get that will disappear in a week or two and not show up again for three months is kind of insulting to some players. So I understand the stink this game gets at times.

Think I've settled on the updated Prioritize Resolution + 120hz/VRR + PSSR options. I tried Framerate + 120hz/VRR with PSSR On and Off and the image didn't look any "smoother", which is odd because I think it was noticeable before? And in the lower res/framerate mode, PSSR definitely made things like chain fences have the weird PSSR artifacting.

Resolution/Raytracing + 120hz/VRR + PSSR just looks better. I couldn't really tell you exactly why but it does and the framerate looks the same as Framerate mode. Basically, VRR fixes any framerate issue. I can see via my TV that its running at a lower framerate but it doesn't look lower framerate lol Someone earlier mentioned the lack of aliasing being more noticeable/bigger improvement than the raytraced reflections and I think I agree.

🤷‍♂️ Doesn't really matter in the end. GT7 already looked gorgeous as it was and didn't really need improvements.
If you don’t care that much for RT in-game then your suggested setting should be the best overall.
Resolution/RT + 120 hz yes + PSSR yes

I honestly don’t know how he does it every update. It’s either a ton of AFK farming, or around 100 hours of grinding just to get the 10 Mercs there at 2m/hour. Or he’s just a millionaire irl.

Either way both take hundreds of hours to pull off and he has tons of grids like that. So total playtime’s got to be in the high thousands of hours. Because I’ve been playing for two years since launch and only have 900 or so at the moment. And I play for probably more than 8 hours a week.

You know I think since it’s been a few years, people have built up their collections, people just buy the cars they want usually and forget about the rest, we’ve kind of as a community forgotten just how long, egregious and boring of a grind it is to even get one of every car in the game. And this update definitely didn’t help that. Adding at least another ten hours of grinding to the total just to get one of the cars.
He's mentioned before. No afk at all. Loves the game, and finds it therapeutic. Puts in a fair few hours near enough everyday iirc.

Interesting finding as well for all people who complaining about patch sizes and the „fear“ that everything adds up.
Game went on my ssd from 124 gb (1.52) to now around 120 gb (1.54). Ps5 pro.

Why couldn't they have made the Merc as a reward for the menu book? Say, if you collect the 300 SL, the CLK-LM, and the VGT you get the W196?

Not happy that they've added another 20 mil car and still no well-paying races. I remember when people were saying surely we have to get another well paid endurance race in the next update but now people seem to have just passively accepted grinding Tokyo, Le Mans and Sardegna repeatedly.

Clearly Kaz wants us to do the same events over and over again 🙄

What a motley crew seeing those cars together! Still, something for everyone and for me it's the Escort Cosworth, looks so nice!

Instant 6 star ticket for owning the 3 Ferraris is nice.

Always hoping for a track, maybe as an Xmas present?

Yeah. Would have been a nice touch if he bumped a load of races up to around similar (or more) than the current big hitters.

Of course we've been saying that for years now. But particularly now they've elected to wheel out another 20 mill car...

HOOOOWW??
It's easy to bank over 100m cr. When you hit the limit you just buy more $20m cars and "bank" them. Then when you need a ton of cash, like buying 20 new $20m cars for a grid, you can sell those banked cars to return a portion of the loot. Now I would not do this for manual grinding as you lose a lot on the resale of the banked cars but it's worth it if you are scripted grinding and it is not taking any of your time. I had a lot of banked cars (on my old account) back in the good old days when we could earn $5m per hour. Currently it is down to around 1.2m /hr for scripted...
BWX
I'd like more granular GFX settings.
Be careful, before you know it you will be setting up a PC and going to iRacing and then will be spending more time tinkering with drivers and and various draw settings than you will be driving! Isn't that why we stick with the PS5 so we don't have to mess with that stuff?

New cars are cool, probably won't drive them all as I just don't have the time, will or enough care to grind 20m for the Mercedes.

Shame.

Bring on the Escort.

I mean at some point you just have to accept the fact that it isn't going to change. I'd love to sit down and have a chat with Kaz about some of the design choices they made for GT7. But it is what it is. I'm OK with grinding...actually kind of enjoy my daily Sardegna run. But there's no question the sheer amount of grinding required in GT7 in order to collect all the cars (aka "game content") is way over the top. The game's payouts in general need to be doubled basically to bring it more into the realm of reason.

I feel pretty bad for people who paid 800€ to buy the PS5 Pro ONLY because they thought this update was really gonna be a game changer.
Your wallet is lighter than before and there's little to zero improvements aside from slightly better lighting in cockpit camera. Are you happy? 🤣🤣

I grind my axx off gridng in Tokyo, Sardegna and Spa that's how.

I don't sell my cars for credits I grind my credits Tokyo, Sardegna and Spa unlike you who's AFK Daytona all day long.

Surprisingly, new Colorado scapes don't feature that one Pikes Peak scape we've seen twice now. Hope is not dead?
They'll eventually put those scapes in game sooner or later. Unless that turns out to be the actual track and not just scapes, which i don't believe it's gonna happen.

No need to be a Richard about it

First post but have stalked for awhile. I have been running Sardegna 800 a lot the past few days so I tried it with the new VR settings.
With the new VR setting on, it seems the interior is clearer but the names of the cars are blurrier more, even more so when turning my head back and forth. The Vantage V12 (why it has no driver name 🤷) especially was blurry. 2 cars names almost overlapping looks worse too it seems.
I have tried prioritizing resolution and frame rate, no changes. Maybe it has been mentioned (sorry if it has) but PSSR and 120 hz mean nothing with the VR. Once I turned off the new VR setting, the PSSR and 120 option disappeared and I could only reselect them after I shut off the headset.
It seems to me the overall picture is less grainy but the blurry is bad to me. Maybe I am imagining it, idk but I have raced a lot lately so I feel like I would have noticed it earlier. I bought the Pro to give my son the OG 5 but I wouldn't upgrade to the Pro just for improvement in VR for this game right now.

Indeed, iRacing's leagues are fun and well made but the game itself is far from beautiful or optimized and takes a lot of tweaking sometimes between tracks as they randomly dont share optimizations or are older. Its a rough set up for sure.

Borrowed from Reddit

It does look shinier/more reflective, but for £700? I'd expect more.
The non-ray tracing, 4K/120 setting is more interesting to me.
Well, the cost is a bit of an exaggeration. The true cost is the price difference between the two consoles. Here in Canada, the regular price of a PS5 is $650 and the Pro is $950, so $300 (more or less) is the actual cost for the added benefits, and the benefits extend beyond this one game.

I have never been one to lean towards the better graphical options, I always prefer a higher frame rate, but doubling the frame rate with the ray tracing turned on is pretty significant, and having it active while racing, where as that was not the case before, is also pretty significant. Now, whether or not that technical leap is appreciated by each individual is a different story.

For me, the higher performance is worth the extra cost.

We're all different. I just spent $300 on Christmas decoration for the front yard. $130 of that was an inflatable Santa that rises and falls out of a chimney, but it's still made from polyester. So, and extra $300 but better performance from the tool I use for daily escapism...ya, I don't mind.

unlike you who's AFK Daytona all day long.
Daytona grind!
Round And Round Racing GIF by Xbox

On my current account I was going to try to do everything naturally and then I hit the need to buy stupid expensive cars that have actually little value in the game except for collecting and then remembered that I don't have time just to grind needlessly, so AFK it is.

So instead, along with actually having a life, I'm able to focus on the good parts of GT, like actually racing, completing all of single player, doing the TTs and perhaps Sport races. Oh, and I still do not have enough hours in the day...

Daytona grind is the best thing that ever happened to GT7 for people who want all the cars without having to grind the same races like automated robots. 👍

I bought the Pro to give my son the OG 5 but I wouldn't upgrade to the Pro just for improvement in VR for this game right now.
As a Pro owner I would say this is a fair assessment. I almost didn't get it but in the end figured I would as I have plans to move my driving rig to another room and technically the OG5 is not mine anyway but my daughter's. She gets her console back and I, hopefully, will see VR improvements one day.

There is a nice comparison between the PS5 and Pro from Sparks here:

Not ground breaking differences worth the cost of a upgrade in my eyes but still it does look good with the more natural reflections.

Definitely more life like but honestly, no one will notice in a race.

If anything, this actually demonstrates how good the original programming for the OG version was for faking it.

I don't know why I would assume that this update would include a patch for the Thrustmaster T598. Given the popularity and affordability of this wheel for "us common folk," I thought for sure they would rush to update it to take advantage of the new wheel's capabilities. I am very disappointed.

Are you so terrible hurt by FOMO and the ps5 pro price tag to write such an bs?
Lightning and in-game RT. No one said that will be a new game or a night and day difference on the pro.
Also the VR improvements are pretty fine.

And I got one million with that ticket. Nice!
I got the Aston Martin Valkyre with that 6 star ticket. One of my favorite cars in the game.
Could sell it vor 2,4 mio credits. Pretty nice.
Still far away from the 20 mio price tag of this new Mercedes :D

I got a Tomahawk VGT with the 6 star Ferrari menu ticket. Already own one so I sold it for the 550K which is pretty meh. I'd be fairly annoyed though if I'd had to buy one of the cars to finish the menu (I already had them all) and then gotten that prize.
