The RS Cosworth (😉) was never really lauded for it's outright pace, standard car had 225bhp and 225ft-lb torque, but a lot of turbo lag which did hinder the feeling of speed, 0-60mph typically north of 6 seconds. So if they have modelled the initial car with the larger turbo that tracks with the slower feel, the later, larger run of cars (beyond the initial 2500 for homologation to the WRC, around 4000 cars), had a smaller turbo and some other tweaks which got the 0-60mph time below 6 seconds, reduced the lag, sharpened throttle response etc.

I haven't looked into it in the game yet, so unsure if it is modelled off the initial 2500 car homologation run or the later, tweaked run.

Impressive it did improve on the acceleration time, as it was down 5hp on the big turbo car, too. Shows how much of an enemy being below the boost threshold of a large turbo can be.

It turns out that the Spa Manufacturers Cup "Celebration Race" is exactly 26.2 miles and gives you a Daily Marathon bonus.

Pity that the 1m prize money is one-time only.
Turns out mine was 42.0km and I was missing 0.195km to get the DW...

That's the irony , some other games boasted about RT during gameplay but when you going high speed , do you really care about proper reflections? :P
Yes. What does speed have to do with it? Ray tracing is all about making the visuals feel more authentic thanks to how different objects interact. The point is not to stare at the reflections.
But to PD's credit it does seem like they've finally fixed the weird suspension physics bugs - forcing the 500 Mondial around on grippy tires is very floppy and reboundy as you'd expect, but it no longer physically leaves the ground when it gets too lively.
Indeed, car suspensions no longer seem to bounce around wildly when provoked in a certain way. Bouncing off a tall kerb can still feel slightly odd at times, but not to the point where the physics completely break like before this update.

My point was in a racing game having a strong RT during gameplay is a waste of resources imho

During replays or photos RT is great for that and i know RT can be really beneficial but that kind of RT is only PC atm

Yeah it's more about the limitations of the tech. If it could be released on PC that wouldn't happen at all.
Ya, I don't think "the tech" is the issue given that this thread talks about it in 2022. It seems they need to do a better job of terminating the rays so they don't go reflecting like crazy.

The issue is that this seem to be on permanently now, unless I can find a way to turn it off. ...Well, I guess I need to go check again

That makes it worse. They've had it like that for 2 years? Sloppy. That makes me CERTAIN that PD is being starved or resources
How do you fix it?

Noise is the result of too few rays, or not enough rays per frame, or a lack of temporal accumulation in static scenes, or dynamic scenes in general rendering the previous ray buffers obsolete, or some other trade off. Combine this with a high sensitivity to specular reflections (shiny objects with high local curvature: polished wheels) and you inevitably get a fizzy outcome.

Is ray reconstruction a thing outside of nvidia hardware? Would it even help here?

How long do we have to do these 2 races?

After 2 months off work I'm back on Monday and coming up to Xmas my weekends are pretty busy so nothing sure when I will get a chance to do them.

How much IS that Daily Marathon Bonus? I was thinking of doing them today BUT if there's a sizable increase for doing them first before any other race, I may hold off on that.

No idea. I'd guess that, since they arrived in an update, until the next update removes them.

Can't say when that'll be though.

At the risk of sounding stupid,is this a sport mode/daily race or a bonus, and where do i find it? Please be gentle with me.........
Top right area of your home page. You can do the Manu and Nations race previews against the AI earning 1mil for winning it. Each race takes well under 15 mins (@Thorson1987, if you can find 30 mins in your schedule you can knock them both out easy). Spoiler alert, they're both really easy to win.

Still left me short. Workout on map says 26.1 miles.

Oh well.

I have got a PSVR2 now so don't need to use the TV so can get it done while the wife watches her shows I guess.

Well that certainly makes the idea of driving the X2019 around The Nurburgring abit easier to stomach (Though still abit hairy if I can't all that passing done BEFORE the Nordschleife.

Yeah I'm confident with the Spa race.

The Ring the the Red Bulls is going to take me a bit longer.

Soo, they've made the Super Formula Fuji Race easy by...making the weather actually happen. I say this because prior to the update, Fuji had NO rain. I got destroyed in Dry weather regardless of what combo of car or tire I used. Last night however, I was finally able to win by basically doing the same thing I did at Autopolis: Out witting the AI on tire Strategy and watching them crawl as I blew by them. That's now all the Super Formula Races completed...but that also begs the question: Why No Suzuka Race? Super Formula Races there too.

The asymmetrical bulging and that big-ass windscreen fairing with rabbit-ears pins the Monoposto down, and the Mission X is just clearly the Mission X.

Now that the excitement has mellowed some, I was totally surprised when I found out what was coming with the W196R, just was not expecting an older GP car. So I now ask, how did someone pick up the visual clues to figure out it was the W196R Monoposto from the silhouette that Kaz tweeted? I do see your circles proving it but how did you know it was that car just by the picture? Do you have any other clues that pointed to it or other inside information? Before I got to see Kaz's tweet, I would not have even thought of such a car to be added in the update, I was going with the standard ideas that we would get a VGT, a rally car , and or such.
And when I saw your red circles pointing out the commonalities of the image to the Pic of the W196R, I was gobsmacked and happy to get such a car, I just don't understand how someone can figure out the car that accurately from the little we see in the silhouette.

Even though I was initially disappointed with the performance, once I set the car up correctly I was able to get some pretty good use out of it:

You need to have your focus at 100% when driving this car though because if it gives it's very unforgiving, but once you have it down pat it's quite quick and is way better on fuel than I thought it would be given it's engine size. Was a pretty rewarding feeling crossing the finish line in 1st after having a few bad attempts.

Based my livery (Or lack thereof) off of a plain bodied version of the car:
