Yeah it's fast and it's good at exploiting the game to it's full potential. But I'd rather AI that was much better and smarter at racing wheel to wheel. I don't really care for the speed of Sophy or how much the girl cheats. I want AI that can race me and impress me with is race craft and skill. F1 game has fun AI they may be dumb at times sure what AI isn't? But they give me the enjoyment I need from a racing game when I go wheel to wheel its very good most of the time I have no issues when we race its so much fun to race AI in F1 22. They need to still work on blocking you on Qualifying laps though, But in race trim they are quite decent.

No comments on video, of course. Wonder what the dislike ratio is.

I don't really car about a "program ai to win at max speed" mechanics, I'd rather have content, gameplay, and the removal of loot boxes so I get engine swaps or cars directly from an in game shop with actual in game free currency.

It's telling that they don't show the steering and brake/throttle inputs of Sophy in this TT replay. I guess it's all over the place.

I wish they'd rather show off the AI behaving like a human racing driver. So far it's plain to see that this is more 'artificial' than 'intelligent' racing. In the RACE TOGETHER videos where the Sophys were racing humans and each other you could clearly see artifical behavior, leaning towards reckless driving. Most of the moves of the AI would be sanctioned with proper stewardship.

I'd want to see a showcase where it's hard to tell if it's a human or an AI driver. And a demonstration of fair driving, where the AI recognizes a bad move and concedes by itself.

I would like to install Sophy in my lawnmower
She would cut across the sidewalk and driveway, and miss half the lawn.

I’m still on F1 2019 and have been having tremendous battles vs the ai. Once I finish the championship I’m doing I’ll be getting F1 22, I’ve read several times that the ai this year is really good to race against, probably the best in the series so that’s exciting.
Im interested to see what Sophy will do for GT7. The Sony guy is saying she will provide great racing for all skill levels, this sounds really promising if it can be achieved.

Not to downplay the achievement, but anyone who actually raced Hamilton's ghost in GT Sport knows that his Nordschleife laptime is hardly anything to write home about. Still, the lap is amazing to watch. Sophy is going to the very limits of what the physics engine and the track limits will allow. That's something a human being just won't be able to reproduce.

I just hope that we aren't eons away from seeing Sophy implemented as an AI model to race against. The current AI in custom races is hopeless. While there are some improvements over GT Sport, it'll still chug along right behind a slower car when it could easily overtake. Plus, anyone who has watched the replay of one of their longer races will have noticed that at some point the AI won't even apply full throttle anymore. I'm struggling to believe that that has anything do with the AI being "bad" because going full throttle on a straight bit of road is such a basic thing to do that it's probably more down to PD being just incompetent.

Gran Turismow 7
With such bangers like Briggs and Straton, Toro. Classic lawnmowers in the legendary dealership, such as the Ford LGT.

Let's not forget Gr.M racing and the Mower Internationals. I hear this year Honda's entering it's Mean Mower capable of cutting grass at speeds above 130mph.

For now I'm just grateful that the AI is not named after a certain unfair and unbalanced rotting bitch from a certain brutally unfair and unbalanced rotting title.

I think their roadmap lays around Sophy being added to aid the single player aspect of the game and future games. the current ai is terrible and probably why they use the 'catch the rabbit' races. The video shows a demonstration of what is calculated to be possible by an ai program, but will be 'toned down' for when it comes to gran turismo.

They have found that racing against this type of learning ai to be more natural like racing human players. The scaling will also be there to accommodate everyone's skill level, they wont just put the full bells and whistles in and call it a day.

The online is unfortunately in a weird situation, a lot of players still have not even bothered to complete their first sport race (less than 16% total playerbase iirc) and thus the base game could take a higher priority from that point of view. Not to mention different teams work on different parts of the game. The people working hard for Sophy have squat to do with the balance of online or the penalty system.

Sophy's next part to be developed will be making it match everyone's level of driving and to throw in some 'human-like' mistakes such as braking too late into corners etc. At least that's what I want to see progress on.

Another positive spin is that by everyone still complaining about the penalty system, they'll eventually take a hint and it'll be addressed in the future.
That's showing one helluva lot of confidence in PD's competence when they've done absolutely nothing to inspire such confidence in this current iteration of the game.

This is like what stockfish is for chess.

stockfish is used all the time by top chess players to see outside the box on how they can improve their own game.

this can be the same. Yes the tracklimits need work but thats not the AI fault. It’s the tracklimits Polyphony need to fix.

People can look at this as ways to improve their own lap times. we do it all the time with the worlds best players ghost.. so we can probably use this too.
I like this analogy.

Deep Blue for those who rememeber farther back. Changed the public perception of chess. Made it cool. Made it relatable to non players.

What I've never seen talked about with Sophy is how much of its learning it carries forward with it. I've heard a lot about it learning lap over lap but how much does it learn from combo to combo? Just something I've been curious about every since it was first introduced.

The car would break in two if it was driving like this in reality, and it certainly wouldn't keep this line driving like in this video. AI should stick to the track and not bend physics laws when it pleases.

It beat Fraga's WR time by 3.7 seconds.

Hamilton’s reported lap time in the game is 5:40.622. The best time logged by a Gran Turismo racer, Igor Fraga, is 5:26.682. GT Sophy, trained with the approach described earlier, demonstrated a lap time of 5:22.975, nearly four seconds faster than the best human time

...regarding Sophy, when will we see at least something better then it is in game currently regarding AI? AI in GT7 is much worse then it was in GTS, yet GT7 should revolve around "singleplayer"...
